Thanks so much for the kind words! I am thinking of doing a top 10 list once a month for different suvjects (top 10 coop family games, top 10 most replayable coops etc.) If you have a suggestion of a top 10 you would like to see in relation to solo and coop games let me know!!

I apologize, I really should not have called this a co-op/solo list. I am just starting to delve into solo's (ones that are normally competitive but have a solo variant, or a specifically a solo game). Give me a month or two to sink my teeth into some solo's and I will get a list out. Thanks so much for watching!

I tried to put together a list of my favorite Co-op board games and I came to the sad realization that while I have a lot of Co-op games on my wishlist, I have scant few that I've really played so far. So, based on my BGG rankings, that leaves me with the following as my top # 1) Descent 2) Pathfinder Adventure Card Game 3) Onirim 4) Friday 5) Paperback And my theoretical top 5 Solo/Co-op games that I've never actually really played x) Gloomhaven x) One of the D&D Board Games x) Flashpoint Fire Rescue x) Mice and Mystics x) Hero Realms Solo/Co-op mode

Great video! I own the top 4 (almost... waiting for the kickstarter of Gloomhaven) + Martians; that's 5 out of 10! Seeing how much fun you had doing the solo XIA video, would that make your new top 10?

Great top 10. Some of these I have on my wishlist. The only ones I have are Aeon's End and Robinson Crusoe. Even though the video is long, I really like how you show the game and basic concepts. I haven't even thought of getting Martians but now I'm thinking about it though First Martians (The game that is supposed to be like Robinson Crusoe on Mars) might be the filler for that. Thanks for the list. I'll be watching to see what playthroughs you do in the future.

Thanks for watching! Sorry for the length but glad you still enjoyed it. Pretty sure First Martians will give you your martian fix, and most likely the rules will be a bit better than Martians a Story of Civilization! Hope you enjoy the channel!

may have jumped the gun I've only seen the list and time stamps and commented on it. Didn't realize how interesting Martians sounds. I worker placement that can be somewhat played solitaire? Yes please. The only ones I know that are worker placement that I own and can be played solo are Tiny Epic Western, Robinson Crusoe, Viticulture (Curious why that one isn't on your list?) Any game that's coming up that you are anticipating? Mine are First Martians of course and Spirit Island. Also where did you get those cool looking silver cylinder containers?
@OneStopCoopShop
7 жыл бұрын
I think First Martians will be a solo worker placement too though, but if you want a game to play now, go for it! I also have Anachrony for solo worker placement and so far it is my number 1 in that area! Viticulture I just haven't tried yet, but to be honest, since it is essentially a "Beat your score" it will not be as cool as Martians or Anachrony. My favorite games are ones where I am defeating something instead of just going for high points. That said, I still enjoy those games (I liked Caverna a lot!) Anticipated games would be most of the ones I have backed on kickstarter ha! Hope City, Victoriana, Legends Untold, Myth: Dark Frontier, Defense Grid, By Order of the Queen, DUNGEON ALLIANCE, Sword and Sorcery, Aeon's End Expansion, Widower's Wood, Rise to Nobility, Clans of Caledonia, Diceborn Heroes, Fantasy Defense, Roll Player expansion, Kitchen Rush. . . Just to name a few hahahaha!! If you can't tell I enjoy a lot of different types of games! The one catch they must all be able to be played solo or co-op. Sorry for the long-winded response! Oh the containers I got at Hobby Lobby. 10 bucks for 20 of em!

Great list! Do you have any info on Thunderstone Quest? I cannot decide on deckbuilder for solo play...
@OneStopCoopShop
7 жыл бұрын
ohhh I have the old version and love it for solo. It actually has a co-op expansion (Tower of Ruin) or something like that? But it is the Advanced Thunderstone Quest. Then they just kickstarted another version of Thunderstone, but do not have details on a solo mode yet. . . If I were you, I would grab a different solo deckbuilder (ShadowRift, Cross Fire, Legendary Encounters, Hero Realms) first nd wait to see if the new version has a solo mode. Just my suggestion!

It's crazy that Atlantis Rising didn't get more love. I'll never understand it. I commented once that I could imagine all kinds of expansions and the designer (Galen) responded and said that he had some ready, but it just never sold. It just amazes me when i see some of the garbage that is loved and then a game like this is hardly noticed.

I KNOW!!!! What the heck? Atlantis Rising provides something for everyone! Worker placement for the euro fans, dice rolling for the people who don't like 100% strategy and 0 luck, but ways to mitigate it. The game is fun, looks awesome and I just wish someone would pick it up to re-publish it and get some expansions out there. . . .

Awesome, I really appreciate it. A few I can think of, not in any particular order and not sure if you have played or enjoy them: Paperback, One Deck Dungeon, Onirim (I'm told it can be multi-player. I've only played the digital one player version), Sylvion, I think one of the Tiny Epic games is co-op, Hero Realms has a co-op version if you were a kickstarter backer (though I wasn't one, so I only have the base pack)
@OneStopCoopShop
7 жыл бұрын
All good ones! I think the only one I have not played is Hero Realms as I did not kickstart that one. Do you think it is a goodie? Or is it a basic deckbuilder?
@LucasGentry
7 жыл бұрын
Well, it's relatively basic, in that I've taught it to kids with little more start than explain that you spend by discarding, that this symbol means money, this one means attack, this one means healing, and everything else you can just read from the card. So, yeah, I would put it on the list games that can be used to introduce the concept of deck building (along with Paperback and Dominion), but I still really enjoy it. This base game is a competitive game, but kickstarter backers also received a boss card that had different actions, depending on which faction card you drew. According to the playthroughs I've seen, it looks like just the addition of this one card, it really made a fun co-op game, so I'm pretty disappointed that this one extra card wasn't included in the base pack.
@LucasGentry

Another game that has mechanics 95% the same as Hero Realms is its predecessor, Star Realms. The primary difference is just that Hero Realms has a fantasy theme, while Star Realms has a space ships theme. I just prefer Hero Realms because the base set can use up to 4 players, but Star Realms' base back is just a 2 player game.

Hi Sam! Although I really enjoyed Xenoshydt, I think the randomness just started to bug me a bit. Especially reveal effects when you do not have items that can sprcifically negate them. Awesome deck building mechanic though!

whole-heartedly agree. I've even been trying to re-create some of the mechanics from Gloomhaven (card decks instead of dice, special powers come through cards instead of skills) to create a mod for Descent, just to scratch the itch that Gloomhaven has made in me
@OneStopCoopShop

Yeah it is insane all the work that Isaac did. . . The way each character has their own personality with those cards, and the response deck to provide some randomness in an otherwise randomless game. Ahhh makes me so happy just thinking about it!
