Thank you so much for sharing in depth of how you put all the different curriculums together. I am a new homeschooling mom and have been down a rabbit hole of curriculum research. Your videos by far have been most helpful-even compred to people with a huge number of subscribers! THANK YOU and I hope you continue to make content as it’s so helpful for us moms. By the way I have a almost 10 year old boy who is a reluctant writer and almost 8 year old girl who loves to write.

Thank you for mentioning that you don’t do all of this everyday. I am the same where I buy a lot of different curriculum to change things up and supplement and to keep things interesting for both me and my daughters. Love your videos and I’m glad I came across your reviews!

Thanks so much! Yes! Having different things we work on keeps it fresh for all of us! Even certain things I really love can grow old after awhile! :)

I appreciate your comments about grade level. As a new homeschool mom I struggle with the notion of staying at grade level vs meeting my kids where they are.

I understand and struggle with that myself! I just remind myself that even when I taught in a classroom, there was a huge range of abilities between all the students. It all evens out in the end, and when your child is 20 it won't matter when they learned a specific skill. Remembering that helps me! :)

All of your videos have been so helpful. Thank you Karla! I homeschooled my second grader for the first time this school year and I’m starting to think ahead toward next year. I had been eyeing the different components of the LA curriculum you use but I wasn’t sure how to put them all together, or if it would be too much. This was helpful! All of your curriculum reviews were great too.

Thank you Katie!! I still take a pretty gentle approach in third grade, and dabble in a few things as you see, but it's worked really well for us! :)

Hi Karla, do you buy the teachers manual, quizzes and tests, and teacher keys for the abeka science?

I don't buy the teacher manual, but I do purchase the Answer Key for the textbook as it's nice to have the answers for the comprehension questions. That way I can do a quick comprehension check here and there without having to read the whole chapter myself. Depending on the year and age of child, sometimes I buy the quizzes and answer key for those. I do if I feel my child is ready to get some practice with quizzes and tests since we don't do a ton of those in our homeschool and it's nice exposure. If you are ordering from A Beka, I like their Read & Think or Read & Comprehend books too! They are easy and quick to use! :)

Thanks so much for sharing your tips and experience. I wish I had seen this video years ago before trying to push my son to fit the grade level on a book! Have you ever looked at the good and the beautiful language arts? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one since it is available free to download and combines the various parts of LA together so I don't have to manage 5 different curricula, that stresses me out!

I think if you are excited about TGATB, then give it a try! You can always print a few of the lessons and see how it goes before you buy anything. I have looked into it, and decided it's not a good fit for our family. First, there is a heavy emphasis on art and paintings, which isn't a bad thing, except my 5th grade son has zero interest in art. Writing about a beautiful painting would be torture to him, so I'd rather him write about things he's interested in. The other thing that didn't appeal to me was the stories it uses. They tend towards old stories that are morally beautiful. This is great, but the problem came when I started to read a few and realized they were quite dry. However! Just because it wasn't a fit for us, doesn't mean it won't be for you! I know several families who do like it, or use portions of it. :)

Karla you have been such great role model on picking curriculum , games audioboooks, my kids do xtra math and we are starting our first year of homeschooling well. I do have a question about wordly wise. Could you do a video on how you use it ? I have seen very few reviews apparently if you use it the way you are supposed to it can de boring and overwhelming for the kiddos.

You are so sweet Claudia! Good job getting started on this homeschooling journey! I know it's a lot, but sounds like you are doing an amazing job!! I have actually been meaning to do a video on Wordly Wise, so I will try to get to that in the next week or two!
