With very little changing year over year especially considering that GPUs aren't being refreshed, it's worth saving money and picking last year's machine, and using the savings to get extra RAM if needed or software and accessories, or just pocket it. I have the Acer Helios 16(not Neo 16), and I'm super happy with it! Like you said, the main downside is battery life, which is about 2 hours for me. I take my laptop to the library for school everyday though, and it is indeed portable, even with the very large power brick. 😂
@eneskaraca6519

Can you tell me about cooling performance, im an architect and I want to buy this laptop for work
@Sethsimracing
26 күн бұрын
@@eneskaraca6519 The cooling performance is quite good I think! While gaming on heavy load, it doesn't get higher than 86 C on the CPU usually, and that's leaving the fan an Auto Mode. If I tweak the settings just a bit and customize the fan speed, I can get it to run games at max load without exceeding 85 C usually, so about the same temp but I get much higher load on it. Also the GPU temp always runs cool usually, never seen it get above 80 C. Also, one time I did a 4 hour long race and the laptop was on and running the sim(iRacing) for the whole time, and during those 4 hours it never thermal throttled or anything, which is pretty good cooling performance I'd say, whenever I checked the temp it wasn't above 85 C that whole time. Like I said in my original comment, biggest downside is battery life, but pro is that it also charges from l;like 5% back to 100% in just abut an hour cuz of the big power supply. And final note: The construction of it is super durable, sadly I spilt hot tea on the computer once but cuz it's well constructed it didn't hurt the computer at all! :D Won't do that again though was careless on my part. Sry for this being so long, I just thought I'd be detailed in my answer. 😂 If you need a longer battery life and can deal with weaker hinges/frame construction, maybe the Lenovo Legion is worth looking into, but I've never owned one and this laptop is pretty dang good, especially when considering its price usually.

For gaming 4070 is like 20% faster than 4060, this will make more of a difference in most titles than the CPU difference, and the GPU power for your 3D work makes it the better choice too.

Thanks for the roundup Jarrod. The Legion 7i looks near identical to the ProArt Studiobook Pro 16 (reviewed last year) but it still has the side intake vents - where the 7i has none. According to that review you did back then, the ProArt Studiobook managed to squeeze out 2,198 & 28,778 scors on Cinebench R23 (and this with limiting factors i.e. lower power. The Legion 7i only managed 2,137 & 24,920. Does this mean the ProArt Studiobook is an overall better gaming laptop ? It's processor is slightly less power hungry than the Legion 7i so perhaps this then leaves some extra room/power for the GPU to eek out additional fps. Just thinking out loud. 🤔

Dear Jarrod, I am planning to buy a laptop soon with a budget of €1,500. The laptop should be suitable for programming and video editing. Do you have a recommendation?

Hey jarrod, 2 years ago you were recommending the tuf a15 over the legion 5, but now it's being compared more to the loq series and other budget laptops, with the legion 5 being seen as universally better, but I don't feel like the legions have improved that much the last 2 years other than specs. Any reason for this? Did the tufs get worse?

Hey jarrod what do think of the omen 16, non transcend one, I found one with r5 4050 for $800
@JarrodsTech
3 ай бұрын
Don't have an opinion of it as haven't been able to get it and test it out, but I believe it's a higher quality machine similar in tier to Lenovo Legion series, so $800 for a higher end 4050 is a decent price yeah.

Hey Jarrod, in your Gaming Laptop setup video you mentioned that you'd prefer fresh clean installation of windows for your personal laptop. Can you do a video on that, particularly about downloading system drivers and other software that come up with laptop in factory state after clean installation. I know there are some videos out there, but if you could do a video on that, I would have no more doubts and would just simply follow your steps.

I bought the Lenovo Legion 7i earlier this year (13th gen cpu 2023 model). Man I love this laptop never thought mobile gaming would have been this pleasant with basically no compromise. My only issue with this laptop, and I am thinking it is a windows related issue, you can fully switch off the dGPU without first putting the laptop to sleep.

I wouldn't recommand buying a Legion for gaming. Mine, bought 2 years ago, has a motherboard issue. The PC turn on but the screen stays black. I ve found that a lots of people has similar problems on internet. I also had many performances issues with this laptop from day 1 but it was wirking so LENOVO didn't do anything. Lenovo is not a gaming brand and I regret I following Jarrod advises. I ll stay on ASUS for my next Laptop.

This was a great video! The only criticism I have is using a 6 year old game for benchmarks doesn’t help very much. Also using the same game across all laptops would help me to compare better. I would like to see how it can deal with games coming out now.

I'd like a Legion 7i Pro from last year as towards the end of the year it was around €1000 cheaper than the new one but since the new model came out it seems impossible to get a gen 8 model. Any ideas? Do you have to go second hand/used? The new gen 9 model is almost 3.5k in Belgium.😭

Looking at the specs Asus Tuf is better. ASUS also uses higher quality parts and builds than lenovo in my opinion. However price is an important factor because that Cpu looks a little expensive. I'd say side with which ever one is more affordable to u because there isn't a huge difference but I can see the TUFF getting better results.
