I lived here 30 years now, married raised a family. Most of the areas highlighted are the newer parts and smaller properties. I am below rolling acres and it's nice to have 55' wide lots. The Falling brook school is nice however the high school, Sinclair is way overcrowded, I counted 50+ portables when my kid played volleyball there, very sad since the school was only a few years old,. Anderson high school in our district has zero portables. I like the entire town, probably the only area I would avoid is White Oaks the two big subsidized apartments on the west side but even they are not bad just a few bad apples. The old section around the downtown is nice, no two houses are the same and the lots are huge from the old septic days.

Great video showcasing Whitby. Again, I think North Whitby near Ashburn golf course is one of the nicest areas. You can get nice homes in the town of Ashburn or acreage with ponds etc. Beautiful area and close to ski hills, golf, biking and walking trails. Hard to find real estate in the area though. Or at least real estate under a million.

Living in Whitby for over 5 years and I'm surprised you only focus on newer developed neighborhoods in higher price ranges as being the best places to live. Been living just south of Roseland between Brock and Anderson and the neighborhoods are older but have great schools, quiet and more affordable.
@BradGoetz

Hi Alan Lindsay, covering Whitby's top areas was a bit harder as all the areas are really good. On Average, the schools in Whitby are great and the people i have met have all been really friendly. Kids run the streets in every area. I focused on how fast houses sold in specific areas combined with the average percentage to list price they had. This set the bar in terms of the demand for specific areas. But in all honesty, when people reach out and want to narrow down a specific area, they are safe to select 95% of the Whitby area. You don't actually live too far from me. I am at Thickson and Dryden and love it so far. I bike and take my dog Riley through the streets around the area you mention. I appreciate you commenting on this video with your feedback and opinion. If you look at all of my videos (I don't expect you to as there are LOTS), you will see i keep all comments and respond accordingly, mainly because I want my videos to REALLY help people in deciding whether or not they want to move here. If so, which areas would be good. A lot of the people that have watched my videos have bought here (With an out of town realtor) but felt good with there decision based on my videos and the comments within. Again, thanks for watching and commenting and love that you provided the feedback that you did :) Sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for creating and sharing your video Brad. I read that there will be an additional hospital built in the Durham Region with both Whitby and Oshawa competing to have the new hospital built in one of those locations. Could you please advise on the status of that decision? I am hoping that the location chosen will be near the 407/Brooklin area. Thanks.

Hi Magz B, Thanks for watching and commenting...... To be honest the GTA as a whole has such little inventory that it doesn't really matter where the house is, finding renters (good ones too) is fairly easy. Brooklin is a very desirable area which definitely helps also. Hope that helps.

Hey Andrew, thanks for watching and commenting. They are a pretty decent builder. The whole development is going to be a good thing and those moving there should enjoy it. It's a convienant location being close to Lakeridge or the 412 which makes it easy to get to the 401 or 407. It is fairly shopping and the builders have designed some nice homes to make the whole neighborhood look good.

@BradGoetz
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Apurva, this falls within the Blue Grass Meadows neighborhood. It is a good area with a great mix of different kinds of homes (townhomes, semi detached and detached). what I do like about this area is that it is close the shopping, the 401 the go train station and bus accessible due to Thickson being a main road running from lake Ontario all the way north to Hwy 12. Great mix of young families and empty nesters. To be completely honest, there are not really many bad areas of Whitby to stay away from. What is drawing you to Whitby?

@BradGoetz

Hi Shoresh, thanks for watching and commenting. cost of living is really different from city to city. rooms for rent start around the $400 range (rare and not the nicest). 1 bedroom basement apartments start a bit under $1,000 per month. Jobs, depend on what you are looking for. Full time or Part time. This time of year tends to have more part-time and full-time openings are alot of the university students go back to school.
