@@lukaskovac6778 The building system is not that difficult, it´s just unbalanced, especially for the Romans. The positive effects of high level buildings are usually not good enough to compensate for the downsides. In most provinces, you are unable to build max levels of buildings, because it would either make them unhappy, starve them, or cost way too much gold to maintain. On the other hand, it really makes it feel rewarding to finally get that max level palace or barracks, because you have to actually plan your entire province around it. Also, the battles in Attila, at least the open battles, are truly amazing. I like games focused on cavalry, and boy does Attila deliver.

It is also a very polished experience. Maybe I'm biased because of my love and passion for the sengoku jidai and european late medieval period and renaissance:)

One of the main things that a lot of total war players forget about is the epicness of the history surrounding the game. Shogun 2 is also my favorite total war game. And possibly my favorite game of all time for all of the reasons he stated, but also how badass the history of Japan is. People don’t talk about the Bushido war, or the Sengoku Jida at all. It seems like an epic thing lost to history, and now all that japan is known for it anime and WW2 war crimes. Another thing about it is the art style. Idk but the Japanese and Chinese art style just has something so amazing about it. It just gives me a sense of satisfaction. I wish there were more games about the Sengoku Jida or the Mongolian invasion and other things like that.

Atilla Vanilla games only experience. Some games I actually prefer watching over playing, such as Warhammer. I find that game incredibly tedious to play. Not complex in a sense that it overwhelms you, just tedious in that in asks for 50 things to be done (also my complaint with Medieval 2 and bloody merchants and princesses and agents and holy fucking hell, let me just play the game). Napoleonic area of history is my favorite. Gun units in line formations, brutality on battlefields, amazing looking uniforms. I love that period. But all TW games set in it have been dreadful. Hopefully Three Kingdoms can top them all considering it now has a revamped diplomacy system (provided it actually works), the music is REALLY good and also the art. Add on the fact that we have unique leaders and heroes (like Warhammer) and two modes - Romance and Classic - I sure hope TKTW will be the BEST Total War to come out. Edit: Don't forget the fact we have population back and a supply feature.

I've been hooked on the Total War series since The first "Shogun Total War." Guess I'm showing my age here now, I remember how many hours I used to play The first MTW what a masterpiece that game was...it had a unique charm, I especially liked how you could groom your generals in vice and virtues if you had a general with high dread he would make a great fighter. I also liked how you could strip general's of their titles and how you could choose different heirs. The expansion pack Viking Invasion was a great add-on to an already fantastic game. Rome Total War and Barbarian Invasion expansion pack was my absolute favorite. Medieval Total War 2 was a great game with so many fantastic mods it really makes that my favorite for replayability hands down. I still want to try Shogun 2 Rome 2 and Attila.

I just can't play Shogun 2. I don't know what it is about it, but I find the entire experience terrible. The battles are fun, I love the setting and atmosphere, but there is something that completely ruins it for me. It might be the general clunkyness of large scale battles, especially with fall of the Samurai. Battling two armies, one made up of mostly melee units and one mostly gunpowder units, simply doesn't work for me.

I totally agree with your choice.Having been playing for all these years for so many hours all Total War games,Shogun 2 still gives me that chill when I press the button of the clan that I choose to play....and its the same clan for one more time....TAKEDA

I do have a question, regarding what you said. What difference do you make between two lines shooting each other and two lines battling each other? In both cases, the strategy disappears since it's a fight until the weaker loses.
@MrSmartDonkeyLP

Not at all, it’s range vs range compared to melee vs melee, range vs range, cavalry vs range, cavalry vs melee, etc. there’s so much more to do with other units while 2 units are hacking at each other in melee. Try hammer and anvil with line battles, not possible.

I would love to see a Total War: America’s. One where it focused on the amazing cultures that have lived and ruled there. Aztecs, Mayans, Incas, etc. could even have Indian tribes too. I just think the graphics would look amazing in a central/South American landscape. The jungle in the intro movie on warhammer 2 made me think of it haha

Could be like the Total Warhammer campaign. Everyone's happily fighting lots of wars with roughly balanced armies, then suddenly an OP force bent on wiping out everyone rocks up.

Empire and Medieval had something that all of the subsequent games lost and that is, the tech-tree having a visual impact in-battle. And trade determining the success of your faction. It’s been lost and it needs to come back.

9:44 -- Biased since you haven't played vanilla M2:TW, but the best agent to get attached to is the Merchant from M2:TW. A good merchant basically carried a huge part of your economy and losing him felt devastating.

Idk I liked medieval more than shogun the dlcs such as the Viking conquest of the British isles made it have wayyyyy more replayability in my opinion tho my number one total war game is probably Rome 1 too many hours spent in it and multiplayer clan wars were amazing tho I do not like how after medieval 2 faction variety and unit variety was nonexistent until Warhammer sure Rome 2 and Atilla gave it a fair shot but every faction in a given culture was practically an exact copy , Warhammer brought a good change back to the direction of better faction variety and finally adding more game mechanics instead of removing them like Rome 2 empire and many more did, the campaigns lost that “grand” feeling to them when everything was easy to manage and simple as hell like Rome 2 , tho thrones of brittania was sadly boring and forgetful like empire, now we can hope that three kingdoms isn’t as much of a clusterfuck tho I would prefer more historical titles and for CA to not become like paradox and make shit like “blood dlc” in a historical title games are now released in a horrible state like Warhammer 1 which only had 4 races to play with? 4 campaigns until a new dlc was added and this constant paywalling everything has just made the experience worse in general.

Shogun I is the first Total War I played as well. I was 12 and my cousin had just bought it. I was annoyed because he picked the Hojo and I wanted to share the camapaign if he had picked the Uesugi. The first time the Ninja video popped up we were so excited. Or when another damn clan would send your emissary back with his head chopped off. It's crazy to think that was almost 20 years ago.

Mister, i have been watching your videos for quite some time, and there is something that bugs me: why you dont use weidge formation for cav? From what i know, its better for charging, unless if there is some secret that i dont know (like, by activating it, it lowers "X" stat somehow). IDK im just asking XD. I own a steam copy of this game since 3 years ago and there are still things that i dont know (like how OP yari wall actually was or what the heck does +1 command buff does).
@MrSmartDonkeyLP
5 жыл бұрын
Wedge formation gives more penetration but less damage, I tend to use Yari Cavalry which have a very strong charge but aren't very good in sustained combat, so I want to do as much damage with the charge as possible, and that means leaving them out of wedge formation. Hopefully that answers the question. :D

Not sure if people will consider it a true total war game but I really loved Total War Arena, I remember having a blast playing it with my friends, working together to stomp randoms who played alone. I think the fact that both sides being controlled by multiple people makes it pretty interesting. I remember having to adapt my strategies to my allies when they failed to work together, the satisfying feeling when random players somehow managed to coordinate a pincer maneuver and so on. Pretty sad they shut it down
