Hey Joe, I have a story and a possible answer about the “No feeding birds” rule. My dad was in a couple different prisons for 4 1/2 years, and his buddy, Bullet was in with him for some time. Bullet was a big dude, and he had a bad heart condition, so they used to give him Nitroglycerin tablets that he’d cheek because he didnt like taking them unless he “really needed them”. My dad saw him feeding the birds one day, and my dad sat down next to Bullet, they all started flying away...as he asked Bullet why he was feeding the birds, and joked that it made him look like “a softy”, one by one the birds started dropping out of the sky and flopping around on the ground. He even swears he heard some make “popping noises”. Bullet looked at him and said, “Sick of them birds shittin’ all over my yard.” Evidently Bullet had claim to a couple benches in the yard, and the birds kept shitting on his seats. My dad told me that story when I was younger, but I havent asked him about it sense, so I hope he wasn’t pulling my leg, but I doubt...that’s the type of shit you can’t make up! Anyway, I thought you might like that...much love to you and the rest of APS. Hope the best for your buddies still struggling!!!

from military and historical references i have to conclude: a)the shaving of hair happens to prevent lice among prisoners and b)feeding birds *may* be related to the risk of using mail pigeons (or ravens lol!) you said yourself how important is to monitor all communications

no, you're *dead wrong my dude,* the shaving of hair is to take away any individuality, especially in the military. even more so in prison. less of you that you are makes you easier to break and far more likely to comply with that prisons rules no matter how extreme. in the military you're part of a unit, you're all part of a team, that team must act as one, cutting hair is incredibly psychologically effective at removing what makes someone unique, taking the individuality out of an individual makes for greater cohesion amongst the people in your unit making it easier to move, think and fight *as one.* where and in which fucking history/military manual/military history book(s) did you find that shaving your hair is to prevent lice amongst the enlisted men!?!?!?!?
@unfortunately_fortunate2000
4 жыл бұрын
@matt long thats maybe a small part of the answer what the real reasoning is though; have you ever heard of a carrier pigeon? yeah, wouldn't be too hard to get the pigeons used to being fed, train it up to be a carrier pigeon and then have an easy way of smuggling [albeit] small amounts of drugs into the facility's grounds. which is a no no, plus, that carrier pigeon could then be used for the traditional carrier pigeon thing, sending letters/notes to other parts of the jail/prison, which would enable inmates to have a totally secure, unmonitored form of communication to plan [again] shipments of drugs, or a riot/protest, or they could use the pigeon to send weapons to and from other yards to/after assaulting or killing other inmates. the cartels tried using carrier pigeons to ship drugs over the border, they found that it was a waste of time cause you're only able to send *maybe* an ounce at a time, anything more and the pigeon couldn't fly.

Regarding the hair cuts, I would've thought they would have filed a federal lawsuit claiming religious persecution violating their First Amendment rights. Where were the 'prison lawyers'?
@robertcorbell1006
6 жыл бұрын
Almost always those felony charges that get them put in prison are for drug charges, for owning and using either pot or peyote for religious use, ironically part of the very same religions that tell them not to cut their hair. Many Rastafarians and Native American followers of their pre-Christian tribal beliefs have suffered due to both of these things. It and medical treatment along with taxation and proper regulation, in a manner similar to tobacco use are why people argue for marijuana legalization.
@NotAFeminist976
6 жыл бұрын
Robert Corbell what about Sikhs?
@robertcorbell1006
6 жыл бұрын
Great question. Sikhs generally try their best to obey the laws of the land and live a "straight edge" lifestyle, avoiding alcohol, tobacco, and drugs as an article of faith for the same reasons they leave their hair and facial hair be. There have been plenty of cases however, where they have been charged with manslaughter in India for self-defense and home defense reasons, especially in regards to defending the Golden Temple in Amritsar and temples from hate crimes in the US and UK. In India, state and national prisons alike will not cut the beard of a devout Muslim nor the hair and beard of a Sikh out of respect. Yet in the UK and US where this has been an ongoing deal, Sikhs have had this issue come up many times and human rights organizations out of India and Pakistan have fought for them to keep their articles of faith. Nearly every lawyer fighting for religious freedom in jails and prisons these days are part of the religions mentioned, most often Sikhs from India. My opinion personally is that if it's a part of their religion and they obviously can prove it (sounds a little like racial profiling, but it's an unavoidable fact that these are ethnically and culturally entrenched religions) then anything these state prisons are doing and especially the federal ones is an outright violation of the First Amendment and free exercise. And national law trumps state prison mandates each time, plus while nitpicking wardens might say it technically says Congress shall make no law, the clause also extends to the practice of religion being interfered with by other government-run bodies. So yes. The hair rules in prisons that have hair rules shouldn't be applied to people of religions that it would interfere with in keeping with the law (as for Orthodox Jews, I don't see how they would end up there, but let's include them for the sake of argument, too).
@justinkassel4000

Almost always for pot and peyote? That's fucking stupid. They make just as many mistakes as any other group of people, from drugs, to murder, and everything in between.
@robertcorbell1006
6 жыл бұрын
Usually it is for non-violent drug related reasons in the cases of Native Americans and especially for Rastafarians, although there have been cases where it did become violent due to police brutality and other times where they did actually fight the cops over it. Likewise, there have been cases where like with the Sikhs, Native Americans were arrested for self-defense and given a harsher sentence, often racially motivated due to the jury. religionnews.com/2017/08/03/rastafarian-pot-farm-shootout-sparks-religious-use-debate/ Hines v. I wonder if women are allowed to wear hijabs on their heads in prison. That is very important to their religion.

APS podcast everyday is kinda overkill Joe. Once a week would be better. To keep it from getting old for you, and your fans. Just my .02¢

"vio-later" lmfao that shit kills me each, and every time I rewatch this video!! ahhh man, where'd all the passion go Joe? I think you need yourself a break from youtube brother, sure the views will drop but with a new found passion for the youtube game and, a new game plan for fresh and original content I'm certain that with your drive, you'd be able to launch APS to new, unforeseen heights & success, Joe. love you man, hope y'all & Gay Dave are doing good.

During a live pod cast, will you be talking random phone calls from the #APSArmy? I could totally dig that as I'm sure everyone else could too. Just a suggestion, that would be way cool. I'd call in. I'd even be entertaining....LOL, Please consider it guys. Thanks and have a great day! #APSArmy4Life

Skype has the capabilities, granted it's only one person at a time. I've seen much smaller channels do it and it was no big deal. Audio, of course, matters greatly. But what I've seen these smaller channels do was great. By smaller I'm talking less than 150 subs and maybe 20 or so watching. I think it's a bad ass idea and how many people are gonna tune in knowing that they might just have a chance to talk to Joe and Yonnie?

The first time I went to jail it was for 6 months and I got to do it in work release. There they had a rule that you couldn't have more then $35.00 on you at any time or you would be taken right to county jail. I was never checked so I kind of forgot that rule. I came to work release on a Friday afternoon after work and the guard asked me to empty my pockets. He looked in my wallet and I had $50.00. I figured I was off to jail losing my job with all of my tools. For us Friday night is pizza night. The guard asked me if I would rather buy 2 pizzas or go to jail? I ended up with 2 pizzas but I could only eat one. I didn't know vary many of the guys. One of them was a guy that had done quite a bit of time, guessing by the amount of ink he had. He was just about ready to be a free man. I was telling some guy I knew about the excess money and to many pizzas I'm going to have later. There was a short muscular black kid in there that heard my story. He didn't have a job so he never got out. When the pizzas were delivered he made sure he was close to me and was the first guy to ask for the pizza. I had no problem giving it to him. Off he went and I started eating. Pretty soon that tattooed guy came over to me looking fairly disgusted. He said, you gave that N-word a pizza. I said I did. He said I don't ever want to see that again. Next time you ask every white guy in here first before you give a N-word food. He was still looking disgusted as he walked away.
