We're diving right in in this vid! Who needs an intro? I've been using some these transitions for YEARS and they've all become my go-to plugins for getting s**t done in Final Cut Pro. What are ***_your_* favorite plugins?

You know I'm a huuge fan of your content and that relaxed style of yours. A very friendly remark, at 10:18 you said you'll be linking to more resources regarding the plugin you were talking about….and then nothing in the description. Of course we can do the research ourselves but if you said… I've seen people nagging in the comments about this on other channels and getting really unpleasant. Cheers!

Hello Matthew, I am new to the filmmaking. However, I have a Mac Pro, a Decklink Quad 4k PCIe Card 3 Panasonic DC-BGH1 cameras and 1 Canon C70! When I connect my C70 via HDMI cable to my Decklink card, the camera appears online and live in the Blackmagic Desktop Video Software. Now my question: How can I make it visible live in Final Cut Pro. I could not figure out where and which are the correct settings to view the live C70 picture in Final Cut Pro X. Do I need another plugin for this? If I go on Multicam View it only asks for an IP address but I want to run it through my Decklink Quad Card via HDMI. Sorry for bothering but I could not find any details description how to do that. Thanks a lot. Kind Regards. DimiZ

I believe the only way you can record directly into Final Cut Pro from a camera is to use the Import Media window. Go to File < Import Media and then look under the Cameras heading in the sidebar on the left. If your camera is visible there, you can select it and then click Import to begin recording from your camera. Apple's support document says you need to connect your camera using FireWire which seems strange since FireWire was discontinued on Apple products quite some time ago. I think the Thunderbolt Display was the last product they sold in 2016 that had a FireWire 800 port. Here's the Final Cut Pro Guide document that covers how to do record from a camera directly into FCP: support.apple.com/guide/final-cut-pro/record-into-final-cut-pro-ver41814595/mac

Thanks for Your Video, as aLways "Well-Done" . . . I Agree, I absolutely Love MotionVFX's "Peerless" (style-wise) Plug-Ins which are Sophisticated, Elegant & RENDER at BLAZING-Speeds. I believe MotionVFX knows more about MOTION-5 than anyone on the Planet and their VFX Designers are ARTISTS. (Plus, ALL My Discretionary Income goes to those Guys.) However, I do get frustrated with their "M" Products not having all the CONTROLS that an Editor Expects & that the Controls can Vary from One PlugIn to the Next (that's the artistic part, uniformity not important) Controls Problems: ⚙TitLes _> No Access to the Text>Inspector (just Title inspector-thats LIMITING) _>An Element in the Title may have a SINGLE size-Control, NO X & Y Scaling >An Element in the Title may not have a way to turn it off i.e.., Opacity/Scale. _> NO Real Opacity ControL for the the Title as You go to the Video Inspector & Reduce the OPACITY & the Underlying Video Clip is AFFECTED (This comes from the PLACEHOLDER in Motion-5 being Left ON) _>Only One-Choice of Intro Animation, No Fade-In / Scale-Up, giving you only an ON/OFF CheckBox (☑️'s are so 2010's) ⚙Drop-Zones _>All over the Place, Some are Fine, Most will Scale all "hay wacky" once you Scale the Outerscale to a Certain Size & sometimes it's the Same for Scaling "Within" the DropZone. The 2 Controls need to be Separate. Sometimes there's a Mask Control to Offset this effect, but Not usually. ->TitLe animation Length Stretches as You Lengthen the Title (from Not having Markers in Motion-5) ⚙Animating PIP/End Screens etc., _>(Like You Encountered, usually just have ONE Direction to Animate in & that's not very HANDY.) I'm Constantly taking MotionVFX Plugins into MOTION to add those controls which Consumes Time & Clutters Up my FCP Titles Browser with My Customized MotionVFX Plugins. Since the Asking Price of their Plugins is nearly TWICE that of PHOTO-Editing Applications, I would Like them to ADD ALL the Controls that a Logical Editor would Expect to have at their Disposal. I haven't had the Same Experience with MotionVFX's Support that You Did. They are nice enough but the Responses are usually explaining the situation with the Developers-('just the way it is). I once Facebook Messengered Szymon & He referred me to Help-Desk. Thanks for Listening, Man. I Love Your ChanneL ✌🏻 #motionvfx

Hi, we’d like to address some of it here if you don’t mind: - we can not publish every single parameter - FCP tends to get EXTREMELY slow if the publishing list is huge. Project optimisation is very important for us and for our customers - the more we add, the slower the host app which is why we usually concentrate on the most important and most often used features, - not every text can be edited via the Text Inspector. For example, you can’t edit: layers with masks that use text as their source, text layers that are below other layers (overlays such as flares or leaks), clones layers that use text as their source and a few more, - single size control: this should rarely be the case but happens usually when there’s no way to publish the scale on the other axis (for example: you can not publish animated parameters in Motion - they lose all animation in FCP if you do that), - to control the opacity of the entire title without affecting the material below, simply put it in a Compound Clip (select it and press ALT+G). Note though that this will not always be possible, for example in cases where the title displays the cloned copies of parts of the video below (for example, as glitches), - our early products didn’t contain in/out animations because, from what we remember, build in/out markers didn’t exist back then. We do add them very often nowadays though, That said, thanks for your in-depth feedback. We value our customers opinions and criticism - please feel free to contact us at support@motionvfx.com if you have any questions or problems.

Any recommendations for sharpening plugin? Final cuts default is pretty bad. FCP Effects a Pixel Film have one, then FX factory has Pro Sharpener 2.

i love motionvfx, it's my favorite set of plugins. I am curious now how you use plugins with vertical video? any effect I add on vertical content within fcp, doesn't display properly and will usually have thick borders around it. I tried compound clips too but never got it to work so I usually set normal/boring transitions on my vertical content lol

ps, i swore I posted this question earlier but for some reason it's gone. youtube sucks sometimes when it comes to removing content/comments randomly
@matthewTobrien

Hmmm. I'd have to double check the vertical content thing. Are you creating your FCP project in a vertical aspect ration like 4096x2048 or do you have vertical video in a traditional 16:9 project (1920x1080 or 3840x2160)?

@@matthewTobrien thanks for reply. Yes I set the project as 1080x1920, most transitions that contain movement(zooms, slides, pans) don’t display properly in these vertical projects.

Some of our early products were designed mainly with the HD (16:9) resolutions in mind - these will not work well with vertical video. Be sure to contact us at support@motionvfx.com though, and we’ll see if there’s anything that we can do.

I would be curious too. I have just started to explore Arthur Moore's plugins (viewing them on his site) with the hopes of expanding my plugin library. It's possible his work just as well (or better), but I'd have to take a look. The big thing with Stupid Raisins is they don't use Drop Zones so the plugin is really stable and easy to use. Do you have any plugin recommendations for organizational charts and/or timelines corporate videos?
@matthewTobrien
2 жыл бұрын
Not off the top of my head... That's a very specialized thing as far as plugins go. A quick Google search by me yielded a few possibilities: Corporate Infographic for Final Cut Pro (via motionelements.com): bit.ly/3ojEgSm Smart Infographic - Bar Charts (via Motion Array): bit.ly/3ESKIps Motion Array has some really good stuff that I've used in the past, but they're a subscription service. And you can only use the plugins while having an active subscription. So if you subscribed for a month just to use these plugins and then cancelled ... if you had to go back into your project in a few months you'd have to re-subscribe to work with their plugins.

Hey matt. Quick question: I’m torn between one of the mframe series plugin bundles and the s raisin one you mention here. Any chance you can share some advice and/or make a video comparison?
@matthewTobrien

That is a great recommendation! I have not used the mFrame plug-in to be able to compare them. You can check out my dedicated video on Stupid Raisins's Slice Pop split screen plug-in: kzitem.info/news/bejne/o39-saWCa6efnm0 One thing I love about MotionVFX plug-ins is that they're managed by their mInstaller app - you can manage your activations and, most importantly, your updates. Very, very convenient.
