I am a 76 year old teaching professional. For years I have watched every company’s new driver to guarantee 10 yards longer than last years model. If that was true then I would now be longer than I was at 25 years old. My perpetual problem is that I have never been what I would consider a good driver of the golf ball. I have been a very good iron player with a solid short game. I won one high school tournament by hitting only 2 fairways and shooting 2 under. I noticed last year that Callaway Rogue did not advertise a gain in distance but said the Rogue was a fairway finder. I was intrigued. Bought one last year and for the first time in my life I actually hit more fairways than trees. I would love to order a Paradyme but I am afraid to give up my Rogue.

Five ppl could theoretically get 5 different results in regards to what's "most forgiving" but for me personally TSR2 (swallowed my pride coming from TSi3) was without a doubt the most forgiving. It's surprising lower spin (2000-2400 avg) & I actually gained 4 mph ball speed because it's very, very efficient. Also, I agree with a previous commentor, you hit the Ping best. 😉

I just recently went through driver fitting and what ended up being the best fit for me was the TM Stealth HD. It wasn’t even on my list to hit but I just let the fitter do his job; and quite honestly I was thinking I would end up with a Titleist TSR 2 or the Ping G430. I hit 6 or so different drivers, number 2 ended up being the Mizuno ST-Z 230.

I know most people refer to "forgiving" as a club's ability to hit the ball nearly as far as when you hit it in the center, ie north-south dispersion on a sim. However, for a vast majority of high handicap players, it's the east-west dispersion that is most important, ie fairway finders. I know that has a lot to do with the swing, but some clubs do help there. Too many high handicap players watch videos like this thinking they will get a fairway finder when in reality they are only getting a driver that goes nearly as far on mis-hits, but that's not what's most important to them.

It's a tough call as so many great drivers but not having the Ping in the top 5 when looking at forgiveness is slightly bizarre, when it comes to forgiveness for higher handicappers it generally walks all over the Stealth in most tests. The new Wilson is also an excellent driver and very competitively priced. For me in terms of pure forgiveness/a good driver for a higher handicap then I would say Ping or Callaway in any order followed by the Mizuno, then Wilson then the Srixon. It obviously comes down to individual swing type/personal preference though and none of these will be anywhere near as helpful as a couple of lessons for most golfers. That said given the price point the Wilson is a strong choice for many.
