Btw Christy, your profile pic is really pretty. Your face or bone structure of your face looks super angular (at least in the pic), plus I’m a sucker for a green smokey eye. You’re referring to their concealer, not the foundation, correct? Now I think I’ve tried it in the past & I’m not someone who looks for a lot of coverage & I think I remember it doing more by way of brightening than concealing? Does that seem right? Concealers are sooo very individual & for soooo many different reasons, but strangely, I think you’re the only person I’ve seen that’s even mentioned that concealer, never mind loves it! Lol. Wonder why it’s not talked about more.

As someone with acne and acne scarring, I’ve always found more hydrating products make texture look less pronounced! Really appreciate the recommendations Em!
@Allyson6C
3 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t agree more! I have acne scarring on my cheeks (below my cheekbones) & I also have enormous pores on the apples of my cheeks & nose. It’s always been a problem area, but I’ve found that when I use hydrating products & cream products (like cream contour & blush) my skin looks so much better. There’s something about cream products that just melt into the skin more flawlessly for me. When my skin looks good, I tend to keep the rest of the makeup pretty simple. I don’t really use concealer under the eyes anymore either because it’s just become so unflattering. But I will use a lighter shade foundation just around the eyes if I want to brighten & conceal. I think that works because it’s actually less coverage & pigmentation than concealers. I don’t really have darkness, but I’ve developed these puffy bags, like these hereditary fat deposits under my eyes & they’re beginning to become more pronounced now that I’m getting older (shhh, lol). So I don’t brighten too much because it will make those bags more obvious. It’s a very tricky color correcting technique if I’m trying to hide them - it’s very opposite of what the average person does with concealer under the eyes. Most days I can’t be bothered but I always cream contour, bronze, line upper lash line, brows & mascara. I can get that done pretty quickly.

When I put my makeup on every morning, I take my time. I want to look nice and it really helps my initial outlook on the day, like coffee. Maybe even a little more. It is a way to bring on the day. I don't require a complete face of makeup for my job it's just for me. I am in home healthcare and not glamorous at all! But every morning I greet my clients with my hair in place and my makeup just so. I also believe that if I look my best and smile then it help others too. I could go for the dress down look with just mascara but I want to be just a little extra. Keeps me motivated and seemingly on top of things even if that day I am not. Even if on the inside I am sad a little. For that 4 hours or more I am there for them to help them through their illness. I think right now so many people with quarantine people cannot even leave or they have covid am so lucky and grateful to have work and other people to be concerned with.

@@normalbeauty5644 - no, I don’t think you got a dud lol. There’s a LOT of coverage in those & they just don’t work well for everyone. I can’t wear them under my eyes either & for similar reasons, the accentuate everything. But there are thinner formulas out there & the L’Oréal is one & it offers some moisture too. I think when it comes to concealing under the eyes, it’s a super individual thing. I can wear the ELF hydrating concealer on my face but not on the eyes. I can’t wear the Maybelline rewind anymore either. I need something with very LITTLE or LIGHT coverage but is still moisturizing. So what I’ve been doing is just use a slightly lighter shade of my favorite foundation under my eyes & apply with a brush or damp sponge. I have yet to find a better color correcting and concealing product than Catrice’s HD liquid concealer in the shade honey. It’s a yellow-y tone but it does WONDERS for my under eye discoloration. I must be unlucky with some concealers. I love the Becca Brightener but it smells like bad lipstick. I purchased it from Ulta and it smelled immediately but I loved it so much I sucked it up and still use it. The smell goes away almost immediately and it doesn't give me a reaction. I totally recommend it. With my Tarte Creaseless, it was dry from day one so I gave up in it🤷🏻♀️ I still don't know if it worked for me because I just couldn't get it on me well. Thanks for your Top 5😊

KZitem keeps not showing me posts. I think new Kosas concealer is hydrating. Good for dry eyes.

You are so right about being light handed with the concealers. I loved your prior recommendation of the Tarte Clay Corrector, and I notice that plays much better with products on top when it is dabbed on lightly. For anyone who's interested in the L'Oreal radiant concealer, but you want something cruelty free, e.l.f. has the new Flawless concealer that is more lightweight than Camo with a slightly radiant satin finish. Drugstore concealers had for a very long time the absolute worst tones and shade ranges. e.l.f. in my experience is the only drugstore-available brand that is killing it with concealers. Now they just need to tweak their foundation offerings. (Colourpop is also decent at base products, but I'm just talking what is consistently available at mass market stores.)
surprised you didnt mention age rewind-you got me hooked back on it recently! love it!

Lol Emily, I thought you said with your lovely Southern belle accent (I am Irish) Kevin Aucoin Skin cancer instead of skin enhancer I had to skip back as I was like surely they can't call it that.

Did you see Tarte is coming out with a creamy shape tape? Its at QVC now. Ulta is going to start carrying it late December.

Definitely smart on their part if they want to cash in on the more mature crowd!

Have you tried the Dollar General Believe Beauty color correcting brightener? I'm wondering if it's a dupe for the Becca.

I'm glad you add links to what you mention. I swear I heard Kevin Aquoin skin cancer. I scrolled down immediately and saw it's skin enhancer! Lol

I used to love the Lancome effacernes concealer it was my HG before going cruelty free. I have the becca corrector but sadly the shade range is really bad I have the darker shade and it's too light for me (I'm a NC 40) so it makes my undereyes gray , I recently bought the creaseless concealer because you raved about it and can't wait to try it!! I'm really thinking of buying the Kevin aucoin one :)

Does anyone else think the BECCA one smells like old school wet n wild lipstick in the white tubes from the 90s? It has that old school classic drug store lipstick smell to me... If you know, you know!

For me it’s because I like the video before watching - I know I’m going to like it so I don’t wait until after 😊

People like the video before watching 🤷🏻♀️. I believe KZitem counts views until certain percentage of video has been watched and some of us (I’m guilty of this) hit the like button right away before starting the video.

Have you tried Tatcha’s the pearl? Its not high coverage, it is more a skin care product but Its amazing! I certainly see the difference!

I found the Elf smells odd, like paint thinner. It didn’t feel moisturizing for me. Has anyone had luck with Nars creamy concealer? I’ve been wanting to try it. I see it comes in a mini. Waiting for macadamia to come back in stock. I have it in a stick and loved that but it discontinued.

I tried the Elf Cameo Hydrating concealer and it didn't work at all. Not hydrating. It is more of a high coverage cakey concealer. If you have dry under eyes, stay away from this concealer. If you have oily to normal, it might work for you.

Emily, do you notice you need to pull in another (more pink/peach) colored concealer after using the Kevin A ? It LOOKS super yellow on camera. Also, does it come in peach or deeper shades (not so yellow)? Curious.

good question! But no it's not as yellow as it may appear! Really pretty neutral in person. Sorry about that! :)

Hi Emily, i went onto ulta to browse after one of your last videos. I have been skeptical about ordering from ultra since i heard they resale returned and used makeup. But i recently saw the brand I Heart Revolution which reminds me a lot of the brand too faced. Do you know anything about I heart revolution, any recomendations?

My favorite is the Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer and for the super light thin texture Garnier Skin Renew Anti Dark Circle Roller the down side off this one is only one shade in medium... but it is fantastic on very mature skin... when I'm in a hurry I can roll this thing across my face to fade my dark spots and problem areas and just tap it with my finger tips since it is so watery it just melts in the skin and gives a decent coverage to give me the confidence and run out the door.

I finally could find a dupe for Becca brightening concealer. Bell hypoallergenic has one as creamy and moisturizing as the one of Becca.

Hi, Emily! That Becca product isn't a concealer. It is a color corrector and brightener. I put concealer on top of that product.

Could you do a top 5 tubing mascara? It’s the only type that lasts (for me) and is easy to remove with warm water.
