@@robindonnolly3261 The Rickenbender 4004lk is a limited edition bass that's based on Lemmy's three pickuped bass that had carvings and gold hardware. The LK in the model name literally stands for Lemmy Kilmister, and there's 60 of them made apparently(I assume that's beside the ones made for Lemmy himself). And interestingly enough it's not that original of a desgin either, on Google I found a picture of a rickenbacker 4004 "cheyenne" and it's the same body with the same kinds of wood and gold hardware but with two pickups instead of three and no star fret inlays etc etc.

Same applies to the Phil Lynott and Cliff Burton basses. A barried up late '70s P Bass is a £3000 instrument. An old Black and Gold Aria worth even less.

Knowing Malcolm Young succumbed to dementia, donating the proceeds is kind of understandable, as opposed to pocketing it all instead.

Entwistle is the reason I play the bass and his dog model is so expensive I can’t remember the price but I do remember how pissed off it made me Stanley Clarke’s signature Alembic is about $12K There was a Michael Anthony Yamaha that I had just missed purchasing but he has the Jack Daniel’s that’s unreachable made by Carl Thompson (?) I think it would be better to wait until I get an endorsement, seems cheaper lol😊

Ever watched "This is Spinal Tap"? There's a scene where Nigel shows the documentarian his guitars and amps collection (yes it's 'these go to eleven' scene. Anyway, there's one guitar which was so valuable they couldn't even point at. It's Fender Bass VI in seafoam green. One of two ever made in this color. i've heard this scene was based on an interviewer's encounter with steve howe. it was probably the legendary 175D, because of howe's notorious fanaticism about the instrument. apparently he made a point of telling this one interviewer in a tour of his home studio to not touch his guitar, and in fact to move completely away from it

Rickenbacker 4001CS, the Chris Squire model, though it’s not as expensive as it could be at the moment. Reverb has a mint condition example for €14k, a signed one for $24k.

🚩 I once owned a Washburn USA Dimebag Darrell Southern Cross and a Modulus USA FB4 Flea model behs. I had to sell both because of a variety of life issues. The pain of missing previously owned items, especially artist/signature model type guitars, is suffering I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. That Aria Cliff Burton behs has been on the bucket list for decades.

if you ever plan on purchasing, be careful the build quality isn't really up to par with it's price and it's electronics can get a little squirrelly at times...but if you're set on just having the bass just for fun and stuff it's definitely worth it👍🏼

One of the few reasons I ever wanted to get famous was so Warwick would reproduce my beat up "been to warwick" with every ding, dent, gash, wear mark, etc. so that a few asshats would buy them for 8G each. It never happened but I like to say I have my own signature basses, some with 30+ years of my playing on them.

The highest I've seen a signature instrument go is a guitar for Wolf Hoffman of Accept. He had a Framus signature going for $20k USD! At least it's none of the pre-reliced BS a lot of expensive signatures do, but $20k?!?!
