Java is definitely heavily used but my personal opinion is that it sucks. I would rather build my app with assembly than suffer that hell. If I need an OOP language that allows itself to run on a wide variety of machines, I will choose C++, Python, or even Swift before I choose Java. Having it run on 3 billion devices doesn’t matter to me if the language is overly verbose with little to no gains, has countless security vulnerabilities, and lastly I have to install several layers of the JVM, JDK, JRE and countless other things that make it a dependency hell. I do not see any benefits of java besides that a lot of companies use it so it lets me make money. The last language I would ever choose for a personal project, is java. rant over, sorry to ramble.
