@BallTistic Screecher i don't care for the start stop style they used, i mean that's the structure of the song they've gone for, and not all the songs uses that, and for the sound, just listen to the guitar hero version man, i have it and it sounds much better, yes i know for an album from a major act in 2008, sound quality shouldn't be discussed, it should be top notch but they screwed it up, but there's the guitar hero version anyways so no biggie

Phew... I saw your fb post the other day asking for suggestions, and meant to mention that Through the Never riff cause it's way underappreciated. The push-pull feeling you get when playing it really stood out to me when I was a young highschool kid back in the 90s learning how to play guitar. When I saw your video I was kicking myself for not mentioning it in the fb post, but super glad you included it!
@nateroberts6747

I love that you're giving the Black Album the love it deserves. A lot of Metallica fans dismiss the Black Album because they only consider songs like Nothing Else Matters, Unforgiven, Roam, and Sandman, but they ignore how may badass and awesome riffs, solos, lyrics - just songs in general there are. In that sense the Black Album is kind of underrated honestly, so I think everyone who likes Metallica ought to listen to this album the entire way through before they form an opinion on it. Also, I'm glad someone else other than me notice that the sickest 'Tallica riffs often come right after the solo, especially The Struggle Within. Hell, overall Struggle Within is such a big bad motherfucker I can't believe so few people pay any attention to it, like you said. Anyways, thanks for this video, Uncle Ben, I didn't think I'd be writing a paragraph about how much I love the Black Album tonight but here were are. You rock dude, keep on doin what you're doin. P.S. I'd love to see a Weekend Wankshop breaking down some of Kirk's lesser appreciated solos on this album

Great vid Uncle B! Another Metallica song Ive seen/heard played wrong is Whiplash after intro, “1234, 1234....” thing... then where the fast low E ride kicks in and the accompanying 3to4 descending chord bursts. Cliff’em All clearly shows how James played it live with a lil hammer-on at end of cycle. I think it’s interesting how simple it is but people play it in various ways.

Also on the sad but true comment you made in regards to the tuning, if you watch the documentary metallica did for this album you can see James playing like a surf green guitar during those parts and notice that the guitar has a really thick string too. Never realized how low it was actually tuned!

If you watch the documentary "A Year And A Half In The Life Of Metallica" you can see James recording the guitars for Sad But True and there is a section where he plays the low D chord and the 2 chugs only, to make the riff sound heavier. I also think this was a suggestion by Bob Rock. Turned out to to be one of the nastiest riffs ever.
