All great tips. When I bought my '19 Civic, the first thing I did was get a set of Husky floor mats to protect the carpets then in the fall of that year I had it protected with Corrosion Free. The next Spring I had a Ceramic Pro coating put on the the entire car including the windows and wheels. Just had the Corrision Free applied again a couple of weeks ago. I get it done, this was the third application, every fall even though it's good for 18 months between applications. This past Spring my detailer here in Halifax, Hooked on Detailing, did the maintenance work to keep the warranty for the cermaic coating up to date and will do that every Spring for years to come. I tend to keep my cars for 10-11 years and want every advantage I can get when I go to sell it. You'll get more for it if it's for the most part rust free and the paint is in good conditition.

I bought my first brand new car back in April of 1994 and after that, I bought three more brand new cars. I still own the last two cars, Toyota Corolla 2006 and Toyota Yaris 2010 and I'm planning to keep those two cars as long as possible. I did a couple things with each one of my cars from day one. The first and most important for me is to replace the engine oil and oil filter after the first 1000 kilometers or 700 miles. Second engine oil and oil filter replacement at 5000 kilometers or 3000 miles. After that, I do oil and oil filter replacement every 5000 kilometers or 3200 miles or maximum every four months, whichever comes first. I take down disc rotors, I clean them and I brush lightly an anti-seize compound at the back of the rotors where the rotors meet axle hubs. This way I don't have any problem removing brake rotors. I live on West Coast so I don't know if this would have the same effect on vehicles from Rust Belt. I also like to replace manual transmission fluid and coolant every two years.
