I just recently had a hysterectomy and an oophorectomy. Since I was 13 I battled stage 4 endometriosis and had weak pelvic floor muscles. I’m 26 now and found out via IVF and after 8 years of trying to conceive before my surgery that I can never have a baby because calcium was layered on the inside of my uterus. It’s a miracle I haven’t died from an accident when I became paralyzed from the waist down or when I had blackouts, but I look forward to physical therapy. Practicing some of the exercises in hopes of functioning better without the scar tissue pain.

After reading up on it, I'm worried my pelvic floor might actually be too tight, as opposed to not strong enough. There aren't any pelvic floor specialists in my area, are there exercizes safe to do for both a tight and a loose pelvic floor?

@@Princesskeywest yes, I found through trial and error and water is really the only thing that didn't hurt my bladder. After babying my bladder for a while and making sure I was clean 'down there' I started recovering. I also have been doing these stretches and things have gotten a bit better. It is only when I don't drink water for multiple days, instead eating things like candy or having soda/energy drinks only, does it start to flare up again. So, point being, hang in there, it just takes some adjusting. Also, get checked for any vaginal infections as well, as they can cause UTI symptoms as a side effect due to not being treated.

Great exercise. I’m expecting baby number 4 and have pelvic organ prolapse from my previous birth. Have you ever seen POP healed by exercise? Thanks!

Thanks for this video Dr Jo. Very helpful for me, these are better than a lot of what I've been doing. Really feels like I'm getting to the core of my issues. No pun intended! Really loved your shoulder strengthening with resistance band exercises also. Thanks again X

Hey 👋 what is the height at which your head is from the ground? Is it necessary to have the head elevated?

No it isn’t. It’s just for comfort. I’ve done these exercises in yoga & movement (calisthenics) classes & we just learn to keep our neck & head long & relaxed on our backs & bellies sans pillow/cushion.

Hello! I'm 20 and I have some health issues caused by bad pelvic floor muscles. Especially I have erectile dysfunction and i cannot hold pee. The treatments are slow so what exercises do you recommend ?

Question! I love these exercises, which are new to me despite all the pelvic floor PT I’ve done pre- and post-surgery, but I have a big question: are you supposed to pull up and in (doing a kegel, in other words) when doing these various exercises? Many thanks!

Hey Dr. Jo....thanks so much. I just went this eveming to my Chiropractor. She is great. I've been having pain in my lower back and past few days have been bad. She feels it may be my pelvic floor is weak. I will do these and see if it gets better.

Just turned into this channel very informative I have just been diagnosed with bladder and rectal prolapse I am only 51 and believe it or not my children are 12 years apart..it’s a very uncomfortable feeling constant pressure and I am trying desperately to avoid a really nasty surgery on my way with diet just lost 3 pounds and I keep seeing different videos for pelvic floor exercises and Keagle‘s and almost everyone is different hoping this will help

I haven’t been diagnosed but, I know I’m experiencing odd pressure “down there” & I’ve visually see something different when I push. I only feel pressure when I push. I’m desperately looking for something to try before thinking about any surgery. Thanks for sharing your story ❤️

Cindy...I also found a physio therapist that specializes in pelvic floor problems, thank goodness.....has helped with understanding overactive bladder (since my 30's), few months ago I was diagnosed with mild pelvic floor & bowel prolapse (gradually worsening over last few years. I am 71 now)..& occasional leakage. Therapist has periodically had me keep urinary frequency diary, bowel movements, liquid/types & frequency intake..all on a simple chart. She has worked with me progressively incorporating exercises (same or similar to ones on this & other dr Jo videos), & perhaps most useful so far are tips & tricks for double voiding to completely empty bladder when urinating, tips to change urgency pattern over time (reprogram nervous system ) Anyway....I found my urgency signals lessening...except with over the top caffeine levels from coffee....my prolapse/strength of pf have improved.....Best of all...I am beginning to sleep 4-5 hours in a row before getting up to urinate (formerly about only 2 hours). My goal in asking doc for pf exam....was that I knew something was not right, not toned, heavy bulky sensations in vagina/pelvic area...she suggested pelvic floor physio. I had never heard of it, I am grateful, because I really, really want to keep prolapse from getting worse...DO NOT want to have medical intervention or surgery if at all possible

Im shaking a lot when I do this. This must mean I have weak muscles, right? I've been having the weirdest issues for the past couple of years with bowel movements and urine issues alo. These definitely make me feel better :)

Total newbie to pelvic floor exercises. Might be a dumb question: Am I supposed to tighten and hold in (and up) the pelvic floor muscles while doing the exercises or just follow along and let the mucles do what they naturally do?
