***Paddletek ESQ-Cs 12.7 and 14.3 go live Oct. 1. I’ve enjoyed them both so far the longer handle (5.5”) is nice. The updated ALW-Cs now have 5.25” handles and have enough room for a 2-handed backhand if you don’t have too big of hands. Paddletek will only be offering the 10% discount until November 25th.

Let’s go! Although its technology is standard, I feel like the cap should be right around the Bantam paddles. They are legit, but not impossible for 4.0 level players to defend against. Great video & thanks for doing the giveaway!

I just played with the Mod TA-15 14mm last night and it is a surprisingly controllable hits-like-a-truck paddle. Returns were a little difficult to keep in but probably not too difficult to get used to. Volleys, drives and serves were excellent with surprisingly little swing required for how light the paddle is. Needs weighting at the lower corners and at sides for stability and to lower the balance point (a little head heavy stock). Only downside is that it has a pretty muted feel. To give my thoughts about power paddles, I used to be about pure control (had a Neonic Flow) but as I’ve gotten better as a player they just doesn’t have the oomph to hang with more advanced players, High spin power-oriented all court paddles suit the evolving pickleball game better.

Loving the Olympus! Your right has the perfect amount of pop any more and balls would be flying out 😂

Cap it at the bantam… and do additional testing to see how the cores change and put the changes into account for testing. Nice review

Agree. At some point probably now, it's getting dangerous so let's capped it now before someone gets one in the eye.

Great list and honest opinions! Perhaps power will be capped at the Pro Power level.

Love the video! Regarding power, I feel power should be capped around the TKOs. Like a little higher is fine. But I’m sure it can get ridiculous haha.

I’m still figuring it all out. I bought some lead to add today to my bread and butter filth. I’m still working on hitting harder so I’m not at max power I’m sure but as soon as I get there, I’m gonna want more!

I think the cap should be at the power pro. That paddle is literally a cheat code for pickleball.

I love Power paddles because I’m weak and don’t eat my veggies with Protein. I think Mod, Ripple, gearbox should be the cap in Power.

Power for Paddles should be capped at where we are now and not to be exceeded. Gearbox should be the LIMIT

I feel like power should be capped where we are right now. Trying to go back and retroactively delist currently used paddles feels like a recipe for fracturing the community (as it already has with USAP vs UPA).

I agree that the power should be capped at where they at right now, wouldn’t make sense going higher

Olympus has a very nice feel, handle battles are crazy with it as are ground strokes. Would you say the Ripple R2 has more or less power than the Olympus?

I personally think the gearbox is still too powerful, but that’s just my opinion. As far as interest in the paddles on the list, the Spartus Olympus intrigues me. But of course I wouldn’t mind winning the Joola, lol 😆

I haven't played with a real power paddle yet. A couple people play with the original Gen 3 and it seems a tad much. Somewhere below that.

I mean if paddletek can get close to these gen 3 power paddles with gen 1 technology I feel that's where the power cap should be

power paddles need to be capped at a certain point but within reason. I love power paddles because they increase the intensity of the game, improve hand speed, and improve reaction time/ increase hand eye coordination. however, if companies begin producing all power paddles and they get out of control, while it adds those aspect to the game, it will remove the spin and control aspect and turn into an all drive game which isn't as interesting to watch.

When you talk about the swing weight of a paddle being low to high. What are the actual numbers in? Are we talking in grams? Ex: if the swing weight is 108 … is that in grams? If not what would 108 mean in grams? Help me to understand that? I already understand how the weight can be distributed from paddle to paddle. You can add weight all over the paddle and it will play differently. I get that but that is not what I’m asking. I hope you know what I’m asking here? Thanks
@AllDriveNoDropPickleball

The simple breakdown is it is the effort needed to swing the paddle through the air. The easiest way to understand the numbers is to find one of the paddles you use and look that number up on something like pbstudios database (I’ll have mine soon). Let’s say most widebodys are 108-112 whixh I would say is low. Hybrids 112-116 which is medium. Elongated 117+. Exceptions exist for each of those categories. The lower the swing weight the faster your hands will be.
