The High Prices are a result of Distributors Selling Guns and Ammo at Retail Pricing instead of Wholesale to us Dealers. Don't believe me, go to all of the online retail sites and see for yourself. They are the ones causing the increase in Pricing, not the Dealers.

@@chrisclark4037 Whenever there is a massive wave of inflation, people try to find someone or something to blame. Here are a few things that are surging in price now despite a severely-depressed economy: Houses, lumber, cars, college tuition, firearms, ammo, cryptocurrencies, gold and silver, etc. Inflation is caused by money losing its value because of an increase in the money supply. The money supply is controlled by the US Congress AND the bankers who own the Federal Reserve. We are entering a period of high inflation similar to the 1970's when house prices and car prices quadrupled.

Went this Saturday Jan 2nd to the St Charles MO show. Watched your video before I went and should have listened and saved my gas and the $10 entry fee. Everything you stated was sadly true. The dealers were very friendly but there wasn't anything worth buying. Zero hunting shotguns - not a single over under. Lots of knives, swords, medical supplies, cheap optics, hats and magazines. Lots of ammo and you can pretty much purchase quantities but at super high prices. Prices will continue to rise and if two individuals from Georgia win next week the prices will go even higher. I can understand why there aren't many true dealers - they can sell their pieces online easily without paying the venue cost, transportation and hotel costs.

I went to a gun show a few months ago and it was just the you had said. I was in the market for a Glock 19 5th gen and found one... for $1,100. (before uncle Sam got his cut) No way I was going for that. I stopped at a gun shop on the way home and they had the same gun for $700 out the door. After I had made my purchase I told the salesman/owner what they were going for at the show. He looked surprised to hear what they were going for. I'm willing to bet as soon as I left the store he jacked his prices couple hundred $$$.

I'm late to the party for comments, but your experience very much reflects my exactly same reasoning. Shows back in the 70s were awesome...superb variety of old guns, private collections, and interesting models of guns and accessories you never saw anyplace else. Moreover, folks would swap and trade, I could almost always walk out of a show with a new treasure every time. Unfortunately now, vendors simply move their gun shop stock to a show, where yes, we see lots of guns but no variety of guns, (table after table of Glocks), and almost nobody trades. As a lifelong reloader, until last year I only went to find powder and primers at a good price, but now they're both pretty much gone.

There rarely ever was a "deal". I started going to gunshows in the early 70's. Quickly learned gunshow is synonymous with buyer beware (ripoff, fraud) and wildly optimistic pricing.

Wow...every point you just brought up are the exact reasons I don't go to gun shows anymore,it's completely changed. And I think it boils down to the wrong type of people are getting in to this industry. It's a shame, I remember going with my uncles and their friends when I was a kid. You're right.... I noticed the same thing. If you offer a lower price you have offended them. People are rude hold group conversations in front of the tables and will not move. Like you said high tension or anxiety So I move on. I always think I will come back later. But I don't.... group conversations= no sale for the seller. I thank God I have just about everything I wanted. They will always be that 1 or 2 on the bucket list. By me not going to gun shows I will save enough money on entrance fees and that equals more money for a new firearm.

You are correct that gun show promoters will sell booths to anybody. On my last visit to the Dripping Springs, TX gun show, the Austin Bureau of ATF had rented a booth to supposedly recruit and answer legal questions. There were a total of four agents in attendance in casual clothing and name tags, yet only two were in the booth at any one time. A quick look around turned up the missing agents, minus their name tags, wandering the aisles and running undercover surveillance on both the attendees and the exhibitors. Upon returning to the booth, the other two would remove their badges and begin prowling. It wasn't long before they had snagged a young man with an AR that they didn't like. He was led to the booth after being relieved of his rifle and then escorted out of the nearest emergency exit. As I left the venue, they were cuffing and stuffing him while a completely different agent inspected the rifle. That was my last gun show.

My last gun show was 5 years ago. I only went for reloading supplies because I realized years before that there is a big waiting period/delivery hassle buying guns at the show. In my state the wait was 3 days handguns, 1 day long guns. I already had to drive an hour to the show location, then I'd find out the dealer was located even farther from my home than the show. So I went to the last show intending to buy only reloading supplies. But then I ran across a LH bolt action .17HMR and I liked it, and the show was a 2-day event on its 1st day, and I could meet the dealer for delivery on the 2nd day, so I bought the rifle. The dealer lived a long way from me, so I would not have bought the rifle if I could not pick it up at the show. I really like that rifle too, bagged a few varmints with it, glad I bought it. Fortunately my ammo supply is all good at this time so I am not in the gun market for anything right now, and I hear it's nuts. If I decide I want another gun I have a local dealer I can see, between him and the internet I can get most anything without having to get up at dawn and drive a long way to fight my way thru crowds.
