Scott!!!!! I took the plunge this weekend. I'm now the proud owner of a male dovii!!! His name is Zeus, he is about 20cm and is currently in a 4x2x2 by himself. I've starting shopping for his upgraded home already. Never thought I'd have one this soon but he popped up for sale and I had to get him 💪

Thank you for your video. I have one of these cichlids I’ve had them for almost 5 years and he is a monster but I did not know what he was. I just figured he was some sort of cross breed red devil. He’s all by himself in a 75 gallon tank And he’s a total savage. He bites me and everything in anything I put in the tank. I love him to death. He’s got so much personality.

I have had a Chancho for about five years now and I had no idea what he was. People told me he was a bar Midas other people said he might’ve been a cross breed but after watching your video, I finally realize what I have and he definitely is a monster.

@@silentbearhunterakitaskenn2018 well that's exactly it! Red Devil fits in my Tank. Bright color all Red absolutly aggressive and when a fish greets you with a nice color you feel better than a dark grey greenish fish in my opinion.

Hey Scott, I’ve been keeping mid sized cichlids in my 180 and 120 tanks, just wondering what you would recommend minimum for the big boys.... dovii, chancho, jags, black nasty?
@Buttikoferiii

Probably 180 for all except Dovii

I had one male red devil that was an absolute fucking monster. No matter the size of the tank or what I changed in the tank he would kill ANYTHING I put in the tank with him. He was in a tank with jags, Jardini butter koff etc. That red devil was a big ass bull and I believe he would have smoked your chancho XD

Sorry Scott but the chancho imo don't live up to the hype until they're bigger than everyone. My Amphilophus Hogaboomarum male(9.5inches) is in a solo tank because he took out a slightly bigger chanco(10inches) and a (9in) midas barred male and all the females

Color by itself can quickly become boring. Fish with interesting behavior are much more fun to keep. It's why people like little shell-dwellers!

I'm sorry, but that story you gave about the dovii bowing out to the chancho. I can't agree with that one right there. That is definitely an over exaggeration. Nothing is more powerful, dangerous and aggressive than the parachromis species.

You must never owned a chanco over 10 inches. Chanchos are hell. They're not community amphs like the rest. Gotta have one to see

there are a decent amount of cichlids that can put members of the parachromis family in their place, don't get that twisted. A big male chancho is one of them, a big male trimac also, big buttikoferi etc
