Fed contractor working armed in the projects, I’ve learned to leave the little fish and non-violents to their own devices and focus on the big movers and shakers, and the shooters. You learn who is who real quick, and often times the residents who really have no Ill intent will feed info to us regarding what’s going on underneath the surface. The projects are a tough game to navigate, especially because we don’t get police back up, but if you know how to deal with people who live on the fringes of society you get along okay. Just remember you’re not a cop, you’re not there to investigate some dimebags being sold, you’re there to ensure the overall safety and order of the residents and guests, and sometimes that comes with letting the small time guys do their thing

@Michael Scheidle I agree, and it is one guard with no gun or anything other than the gift of gab. The Models have many drug deals and drunks not sure how anyone would take such a job. I make $ 17.00 per hour, and I make random rounds on my mountain bike every 40 to 50 minutes. I can read, write, draw, color, play games, and watch movies. I am not dealing with the public. Just checking doors, gates, windows, that's it. I have had drug deals go down right in front of me. I am at two car lots, so I am close to public areas.

I'm gonna say something that might get me crucified in the comments but I don't care. Ultimately, as a security guard, you should not be accepting positions where you are going, hands-on with people. 90% of the time you are unarmed and have no training to do so. Further, in most circumstances security does not have any more authority than the average citizen. You are opening yourself up to a major lawsuit by accepting a position where you're gonna end up putting yourself in the middle of a fight. I've been in this field for over 15 years. And I've seen way too many people get hurt, fired, or wind up with charges for trying to be something they are not. If you were getting into security to see action in my mind, you are a liability period if you want to tackle people, arrest people, Chase people etc... be a police officer.

The companies that do security for concerts, Pro football, Basket Ball etc. Well I have hired them to do arens, festival concerts etc. The same company does the sporting, they just dress a bit better, that the Security T_Shirt & jeans. These people do have radios, that helps getting more people into a problem situation. These folks do NOT have pepper spray, even if they have a CCW, they do not carry. We paid them 18.88/hr.- the employee was paid 8.00 /hr. Many times there job is easy. The real problem is the rap & Rap/rock shows. I did hire once an overnight armed security out of necessity. We had several million dollars worth of famous art. That was 125.00 /hr. I should have done it myself. The armed guard for the (Armored Truck) people were only getting 18.00 /hr.--No insurance package. This is a major company. Loomis.-The guys who were paid the real money were the guys doing private security for "The Rolling Stones, Ozzy Ozbouenr, Tim McGraw-when he toured with his family. The rest -and the are many, get nothing. I know "Sweetwater" paid big before they filed. Those companies pay big and the risk is sickening.

So Ive been in the security industry for 3 years now, I started when I was 20. I’ve been at 3 different companies, and I’ve worked unarmed at apartments (in sketchy areas), shopping plazas (in sketchy areas), a construction site (in a really rich area), cemetery (in a rich area), and did vehicle patrol at a warehouse (in a decent area). I can definitely say at the 3 different apartment sites I’ve worked at, those were some of the WORST sites I’ve had to work at. I got mugged at one of the apartments, and got my car broken into. Currently I’m at that cemetery site I mentioned, it’s pretty chill but I’m ambitious about going far within security so this site is not cutting it. I just got hired at a big casino/resort on the Las Vegas strip that pays WAYS more than what I’m currently making, offers benefits, PTO, vacation days, etc. So for me being 22 this is a big step forward in my career! I got orientation in a couple of days so I’m hyped! This video definitely was informative and entertaining, you just earned a sub from me man!

Some nights I just stay home and check cameras, other nights I physically appear. And yeah even if the contract states unarmed it states senior staff is armed. I purposely wear a col eagle and a general Star to indicate I’m upper management. It’s a hood job and I absolutely randomize when im out driving around. We also help subsidize an officer purchasing a firearm when required. Three just have to agree to work with us for a year to pay it off. We believe in helping where we can

Note: Often security corporations will require a series of State certifications including years of experience and a higher education for a higher hourly wage. However, the security employer does NOT give you more than 16 hours of week, if that. The company uses the trained officers to boost what they can charge their client. Watch Out for that. Also, watch out for companies that offer you to work in high end and risk environment; However, the company fails to inform you that you will not get paid until 30 days after your security services has been completed. Watch Out for that scamming bull-shit. I appreciate the video content because it is resourceful and full of facts-Thank You! There all lot security companies that are willing to deceive you to make a buck off of you. You have to be smart to avoid being scam or getting a very risky situation. 30 years of experience + working a variety of types of security, including armed. You must do your research and evaluate the risk to cost benefits, often the pay is NOT worth it unless the work is more like a hobby that you enjoy.

I wanted to ask I’m a new security officer and I was offered a job to be a floater working two sites not a full time position yet do you think I should take it starting out ?

@@ilovewoe717 depends on your situation and if the hours are guaranteed. There’s a difference between moving from site to site, and being on call. If there’s a solid site somewhere and the pay is the same I’d take that. Floating will have different drive times, distance etc, so in the end you’re losing money as opposed to being at one place. Just my opinion.

Worked number one unarmed, wasn’t that bad, dealt with domestics, People selling dope, got a lot of respect for how I handled domestics. Kids giving me high fives. A lot of bullshit to deal with was fulfilling though. Now I’m about to start security at Amazon warehouse

Security officers do not get enough PT training. They should be trained as much as police officers.

I agree with you 100%! That’s why I started this page almost 3 years ago and have now developed a security guard training app available on iOS in Google play. Download the security guard net work out and join us, and becoming better trained and more equipped to handle the issues that we deal with in the industry of security. Take the responsibility of being more informed into your own hands. Nobody’s coming to save us. We have to do it ourselves. I hope to see you over at the app be great

To be honest I'm a passive, non-physical, and non-social guy, even as a unarmed security officer I will never get involved in jobs like this, because I don't like engaging customers directly especially without a self-defense weapon, so you'll never find me working in jobs like this.

What’s your opinion on riged termination? Apparently my paperwork says if someone does not show up I have to call my supervisor and apparently voicemail. Email and text messages do not count as contacting them. They have to physically pick up the phone and talk to me and it says I am required to stay four hours after my shift if no one shows up and then after that, call my supervisor will they never pick up Also the security company that gives the licensing to everyone else broke their own rules as well as my supervisors. Tell me that locking and unlocking doors are not a part of my routine but apparently in the guidebook, it says I’m responsible to limit all access to the building lock and unlock all doors and check for doors a jar which they’re always is, apparently the company that’s not here that’s in charge of the security guards besides, my supervisor said this other person is not my boss/supervisor apparently in the guidebook they broke their own rules because of the guidebook it says the highest ranking person at the plant or chosen by supervisor is the person in charge until the supervisor comes back so I’m in the middle, and both sides are breaking their own rules. Also, it states all janitors and cleanup cruise have keys to all doors and fences, and must sign a sign-up sheet. If that’s the case why do I have to always open the doors for the janitors to come in and clean the facility and they’ve never signed a sign-up sheet unless they carry it with them.

I work downtown ft worth. Currently. We have already had more threats this year than the entirety of last year. I'm currently enrolled In level 3 training in hopes that my post will be level 3 soon. It's unfortunate the day and age we live in to worry about being shot up just for putting a uniform on but here we are. Purchasing my own body armor to do what I can to preserve my life. Stay prayed up folks and stay safe!
