I agree to an extent. I thought Oikawa is better than Kageyama but then Oikawa did admit that Kageyama can do pin point sets. Something Oikawa has trouble doing. However Oikawa does bring out the best in his players, no matter what team he's on.

You could definitely argue any of them as number 1. Tsumu has the freakish athleticism and determination to give the best set possible, Oikawa is able to adapt to any player and is able to easily understand how to make a player the best they can be with his sets. Kageyama has a freakish natural talent and instinct, very deceptive as a setter and has a boldness in his play style, and of course his pin point accuracy that we don’t really see in anyone other than Tsumu. All 3 all have freakish servers but Tsumu is definitely the best server being a dual threat server, all 3 also are pretty good at spiking and receiving. Their differences really end up coming down to what you think makes someone the greatest.

@@Edward-Tamati yeah, not really a wrong answer here. If you think about it, you could also argue that Kageyama is the best considering he’s only a first year and is comparable to a second and third year. Yet Oikawa is not considered a “genius” and yet is comparable to two genius setters. To me, that just proves what you prefer in your setter. What’s funnier is this doesn’t change even post time skip. Kageyama and Tsumu are setters for two top Division 1 teams and Oikawa is the setter for the best team in the world in Haikyu’s world.

Some people are saying "Oikawa or Atsumu should be the the Top 1 because they can bring the best to they're team" but BRO the topic is not about Top 5 setters that brings the best to they're team..NO!! The topic is about Top 5 setters that have the best own talent!! Kageyama deserve to be the Top 1. because Kageyama's the kind of athlete that displays such an aptitude for the sport that it seems as if he was born to play volleyball. He possesses a frightening genius and tons of natural ability, which allows him to see the court and everything on it with such a clarity that he's able to set and spike with pinpoint precision from anywhere on the court. Kageyama also has amazing game sense and all-around technical abilities, allowing him to make split-second strategic decisions that when combined with his speed, makes his moves almost impossible to predict. He also wields a powerful jump serve, able to break through even the strongest defense. Don't blame me for the mistakes this is from google. Don't hate me this is my own opinion and im just saying some facts no hate!!

Manga spoilers! All the Kageyama deniers yet Atsumu is the one sitting on the bench 😂 for the national team. Even till this date, Kageyama is only acknowledged as starting setter. He is part of the monster generation(Bokuto, Ushijima,Hinata,Kageyama) Oikawa is debatable since he plays setter for a top volleyball country team. Although we have not seen his plays..setting for Argentinian team is not easy. I would put both Kageyama and Oikawa at #1 and Atsumu at #2.. but as a server Atsumu does have 2 weapons..but currently as of the manga the top server is still Kageyama

Awards are not completely accurate. And going back to the basics of volleyball, the best setter should be the one who can give the best tosses to every player on his team. Only Oikawa has been shown to do that consisently. He does not use pinpoint tosses, but rather gives perfectly placed tosses to his hitters.

I want give an honourable mention to Shirabu and Kenma. To paraphrase the words of a more experienced player than I: Shirabu is very underrated I find. He isnt a great all-rounder that other setters in the series tend to be, which isn't necessarily what a setter has to be. He gives his hitters choice, and more importantly, he's smart and stable. He's not very big and doesn't have a great serve, so the story does him dirty by taking for granted how difficult it is to delivery consistently good sets. Kenma also deserves a mention for his technical skills and strategic mind. He's one of the few (if mot only) main setters to have a clear understanding of the match in the long term. Out of all the setters, I believe he has a rudimentary understanding of his players' conditions at any point throughout the match. He's thinking and strategizing, which just feels more in line with what a setter is. Of course, this is just an opinion (and one I've come to appreciate). Furudate has his own opinions on what makes a great setter, and so does everyone else. I think your placement of Oikawa was really good regardless of what I said. While he is a great "all-rounder," his way of playing is very setter like. Ty ohno and crabapocalypse

Atsuma and oikawa should be higher than kageyama bc oikawa brings out the best skills in his teammates and atsuma sends sets that even any libero can hit nearly perfectly Edit: I'm not a biased fan at all, I have been playing setter and outside for 4 years since I was 12 and anybody who actually plays volleyball and knows a lot about volleyball will know that kageyama is the exact reason why Hinata had to train in Brasil to get better bc kageyama was the one who held Hinata back.

How did kageyama held Hinata back?just curious!
@beninho07
8 ай бұрын
@@midhunraj.s7065kageyama is the reason the coach of shiratorizawa told Hinata that he isn't anything without kageyama, the coach of shiratorizawa thought of Hinata as a useless player bc of kageyama, if Hinata played at aoba johsai, he most likely would've learned the basics and learn how to pass and would most likely be played as an outside or right side, Hinata is useless as a middle and he can't even jump serve or float serve. You have to remember that Hinata actually brought more attention to kageyama bc he would hit the ball with his eyes closed and not even looking at the ball which showed how much skill kageyama had and not Hinata, just bc Hinata can hit a ball and jump high doesn't mean he's good at volleyball, the only time he actually seems like a decent player is during nationals when he makes a few digs and passes, Hinata is not actually good at volleyball and that is bc of kageyama

And I get that but kags isn't the best setter in the whole prefecture I feel that should be tsumu as he has a more experience and connects with the players he's setting too and kawa also has the ability to connect and learn about his team mates as shown when hinata and kags were spying and oikawa switched to the other team with completely new and random people hes never met before then and still ended up winning because he knows how to bring out the best and form connections wirh the spikers. Even though kags can do his pin point sets and is now doing the falling ones for hinata, he lacks the connection between him and his team mates resulting in him not being the best setter as he can't bring out the spikers full potential.
