So, I don't understand the "Oasis Song Pattern. Whether it's one measure or 2, doesn't matter. It could be 2 bars of 1/8th notes or 1 bar of 16th notes. What I don't understand, is how do we have 7 beats? is this song in 7/4 time? Or 7/8 time?

Does this type of exercise work with 16th note strumming. Some of the sixteenth nite strumming patterns are very fast. Do you have any advice for 16th note strumming? Thanks

This is amazing, I began playing 5 months ago as therapy for PTSD with Guitar 4Vets through the VA and another online instructional website. However this is the first video I had seen with this particular strumming exercise and, it finally clicked for me, so thank you very much. I think I will actually improve my guitar playing 10 fold.

I'm sorry if this question is too personal, but do find playing guitar is helping with your PTSD? I never thought of it as an actual therapy method before. Now that I'm thinking about, I think playing is helping with mine--very fortunate side effect. I'm going to talk to my therapist this week and get his opinion on the topic.

@@RC-bs6eb Yes, completely. I have had issues and being retired after 33 years military service and 30 years law Enforcement, I wonder why I never began this prior. I have had a guitar since I was 7 and now at 54 I finally began to play and it is very helpful.

In the 5th pattern, it seems like your notation on screen is for 7 beats, but when you play at normal tempo, there is an 8th beat at the end, which is at rest. Thanks for these!

Took me almost 1 hour to find back this video of yours again. EXTREMELY frustrated I did not save this video. Watched all the others (though high quality visually and audio) but this is by far one that helped improved my strumming tremendosly in three weeks. Great teaching! 👍. The V_^ really helps a lot! Keep up your good work.

If you play the first drum pattern with Knocking on Heaven's Door then you are playing 16th notes rather than 8 notes because the g chord in Knocking on Heaven's Door is over 2 beats whereas it the strum pattern is using 4 therefore it has to use 16th notes

Returning to guitar in my mid-40s after an absence of decades - I was classically taught in my teens so stuff like chord grips and fingerstyle has come back to me pretty easily, strumming is something I've always struggled with though so thanks for your brilliant little exercise - I can already feel it creating new neuro-muscular pathways between my arm muscles and brain!
