When I was a child (11-ish) my neighbours had a brand new two-tone Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham d’Elegance. My parents drove a much older Lincoln Continental Mark IV (a big coupé/2 door for a family with 3 kids and a baby(seat!)) - a cool ‘family’ car in itself. So … because I’ve always had a soft spot for Cadillacs, I think that I would consider the quite progressive looking XT4. Even though the Audi is probably the best deal, has superior quality and possesses a much more ageless design. Well done them! So … the Audi wins the recommendation with my ‘head’ (for friends/family), whilst the Cadillac wins my ‘heart’ (‘my’ money). Thanks for yet another comparison video.

Totally agreed with the number 1 choice. Even though Audi has cut some corners with Q3's interior plastic, it remains the best well-rounded package in its class. The use of Regular gasoline is definitely make for an even appealing choice. I have driven the XT4, I am not sure about such a high ranking though. It feels very GM-ish, in execution. X1 should placed higher given it has aged gracefully.

I agree with all of your choices except for #1 - I had a Q3 Technik for a few months and felt it simply wasn't worth the money...no heated steering wheel with the optional driver's assistance package, no remote-close for the hatchback, no remote-release for the rear seats, no wireless charging, clumsy CarPlay connection, no back-up camera cleaner etc. These features are ALL included in our Tiguan HiLIne and it costs $11,000 LESS! I feel like Audi is overplaying the branding on this one.

Purchased a ‘21 Q3 a year ago. I was also considering an xc40. The tipping point for me was a better dealer experience with Audi and at that time, the under MSRP deal they offered. I also, like the interior styling better than anything else I tested. You know back in January I purchased a 2022 Lincoln Corsair. Great ride, smooth motor. But, way too much plastic and flimsy exterior material. I got out of it five months later and into a 2022 Audi Q3 45 S Line Premium, without being upside-down in terms of numbers. In the beginning of my search for a new vehicle last year, the Audi Q3 was what I initially wanted. I didn't like the 188hp version. I tried to go American with the Subcompact, but there was just too much compromising on the interior material. Without breaking my bank the Audi Q3 45 did it for me. Excellence!!!

Love your reviews! I recently purchased a GLA 250 and I have to say, I agree with your ranking. I completely understand why you chose the Q3 for the number one spot - it’s an overall good “value for money” car if you’re considering tapping into the luxury market. Ultimately the GLA’s superior, luxurious interior and comfortable drive pushed it over the edge for me. It was worth the little bit of extra cost and premium fuel. But I suspect if that fuel were different and the packages more paired down, the GLA would’ve been in the #1 spot 😉

It should be comfortable(this is important), no more than 50 000 euros, has average/good gas mileage(no diesel, I know is good for highways, but I don't want one), good noise isolation(this is important), a good size fuel trunk(it should travel at least 800 km between gas stations), and it must be a sedan with 4/5 doors that has AWD (no SUV, I also don't like them). As a longtime Audi fan, the Q3 sorely disappointed me - the laggy, buzzy engine and cheap plastics made me think "glossed-up Tiguan" the moment I sat in the Q3 and I am not pleased with the direction Audi is taking, being a brand formerly known for its quality interiors. Personally, I would rank the X1 at the top despite its age and lack of common features because the powertrain, handling, iDrive, and cargo capacity are still better than any competitor, with the XC40 a very close second and losing marks only for the infotainment system (the T5 turbo is a hoot to drive too, with its blow-off valves!). The GLA is 90% of the BMW, lacking slightly in power and delivery, but making it up in its awesome Mercedes interior design. I expect the new gen X1 will once again set a benchmark for its class in terms of driving fun.
