45 to 50°C which is 113 to 122° is quite high for a basking spot for a mangrove monitor. My mangrove monitor is basking spot is 97° ambient light and temperature. Her dragon stone will get up to 105. And my monitor is all over her terrarium I like the size of your terrariums, but having two of them you should have a larger terrarium available. And your ambient humidity temperature needs to fluctuate between 50% and 90% humidity. And my mangrove monitor is in amazing health and he’s three years old and 46” long and doing great. And I feed her better than most humans eat.

We can agree to disagree, if it was too hot my monitors wouldn’t bask, esp for pre longed periods of times, if it was too hot my female wouldn’t be regularly laying eggs every 70-90 days, if it was too hot they wouldn’t bask. A isolated hot basking spot then nice cool ambients is key with indicus They’re not ackies But will bask similarly but run much cooler. It’s also about options, your monitor can’t get much over 100 if she wants… mine can… mine can also choose to Bask at 95-100-105-110-115 if they want That’s what I try and do is give them options. This set up was purely for people who have them and don’t know how to set them up as I stated and I don’t agree with, I have a female who’s 28 inches total length in a 6x4x6 I’m massive on space 50% is too low for this species I’ve found all this out via trial and error with the species and what my animals react to when I change things, this isn’t shit I’ve found on the internet from someone who’s kept for 5 days and the animal is alive 🤷🏼♀️

Edit, this isn’t the video I thought it was, the young pair is purely for a how too, and the older pair are not even adult… they’re tiny, they’re juvi at best

Bro Mango is such a gorgeous animal it is insane, no wonder you've fallen in love with her and her species in general! But I get it, I feel the same with Ragnar and rudicollis now! Really enjoyed the video, excellent information, and inspiring for people at all levels of reptile/monitor keeping. Keep up the good work man

When my mangrove is one year old im moving it into my Kages 8x4x4 i just got my mangrove yesterday, captive bred, the owner of the shop breeds 80% of his reptiles its incredible amazing. My mangrove as a baby is a little smaller than my ackie, so im super determined to have this animal in my life.

A couple questions: First: what monitor should I get if I want one about 3-4 feet that will interact with me and has the same shape as something like a nile monitor or Asian water monitor? Second: if I get a baby monitor should I just put it in a full sized enclosure immediately or wait for it to grow?

Honestly, not many, indicus, but they’re shy, peach throats, but some males can push 5ft from bigger locations, flavis are good, so sand goannas I do smaller and upgrade
