These are all excellent suggestions, my top 5 modifications would be; 1. Hyperdrive with 4 warp speed settings for boring motorway journeys. 2. Indoor heated swimming pool for rainy days. 3. Twin forward firing plasma cannons for traffic jams. 4. Invisibility cloaking for stealth camping. 5. Glass fronted trophy cabinet for displaying the skulls of my enemies. Best get the tools out!

Good video. We've had a tow hitch fitted to carry ebikes, as weren't convinced the bike rack would stay put with the weight, also lower to mount/demount

I've considered this as well, Jools and Deb. WIthout the batteries the bike rack will hold our ebikes otherwise they'd weigh over the 50kg limit. However, they are still heavy and need to be lifted quite high. I doubt Zoë would be able to lift them. Thanks for commenting 👍👍

Herman Hits the Road Hi You two. We have a Swift Kontiki 645. I have all the mods and upgrades you suggested but I apparently can't do air lift suspension because it is on an Alko chassis. I have also installed rear view and rear park camera's. Upgraded all internal lights to led and fitted dedicated 230volt led strips and additional 13 amp socket outlets for when we have hook up and low level and hold area12 volt led strips, additional USB charging points. And currently installing all round remote control high level flood lights flood lights for when we are on wild park ups. Plus a seperate 20watt solar vehicle battery trickle charge unit. We call her Connie named after my mum who used to love to come on holiday with us. We have managed to get out once before lockdown and once recently to Bridlington, Cumbria and York and plan to go to Norfolk in August and hopefully fit in a few unplanned trips before that. We are retired now so loads of time. We had planned an open ended UK tour from April but lockdown put paid to that. As you may have guessed she is also one of my hobbies. Do live full time van life or like us " weekend warriors"

Herman Hits the Road just be sure to match the AH capacity to your existing one or better still buy two and replace your old one if it’s tired. Then wire them in parallel so they are balanced - positive from the charger(s) to one battery and ground/negative) to the other batter). This should give best results on an SLA system

As we have now put a Deposit down on a Van, not what we were originally looking at or at the same budget level. We will be looking at a good few of your upgrades on the list. I did look at the cost of having a awning fitted, but we also want a driveaway awning, and the Driveaway will be one of the first purchases we make as the windout awnings are expensive and easy to damage when the wind gets up. The cost of getting on added or fitting it myself would cover the cost of getting refillable gas system installed. Its just a awaiting game now till the Van is released and we can go and pick it up.

@@HermanHitstheRoad We have gone for a Rapido 962M, which will put us on for a few years or so. We were originally looking at Burstner or Hymer, not many Burstners around and the Hymers only one fitted the bill with in the budget we now have and it had afridge issue that put the Wife off. probably a simple fix that wouldn't have cost a great deal to get fixed. We could have another 3 weeks to wait till we pick it up. Will ring them in the morning as I am after the width including the mirrors as I may need to alter my Gates to get it in my Drive. Lucky I still have a few boards left from making them almost two years ago. I will have to remove a old pair of Oak gate posts which I'll end up milling down for boards for wood working projects.

Hi just found your channel. Have subscribed and working my way through your videos. I’m looking at getting my first motor home but also considering a caravan. @HermanHitstheRoad

Hi Charles. Reliability doesn't worry us. The older vans are more reliable, less to go wrong. However, things do wear out and this might be what you are worried about. New doesn't mean it won't break down. You can get some amazing advice on groups like Classic Hymer on Facebook. The choice between motorhome or caravan really depends on the type if touring you want to do. Moho are great for moving around and wild camping. Caravans are great for staying in one place and using the car for exploring.

Charging booster to charge batteries while driving - IMO and experience = better than solar; my RV has one with 40 Ah charging 3. Tow bar for bike rack - better than fixed bike rack, since rack can also be used on tow bar of regular car 4. Normal (RV-)GPS (G.... or T....) + normal radio, no naviceiver.
