Can somebody clear this up for me? Here is the situation, me and my friend were the last two alive, I just escaped a battle with red health, and they start attacking my friend, he was already at half health and stayed to get a kill in a 1v3, he died and got pissed at me for not helping, is this my fault? My logic is if I would've came and helped they would've focused and finished me, he should've just ran as it was our side of the map and he couldve easily made it

I follow most of your advice Raynday but the never surrender tip is kinda circumstantial with me. If I feel the team has a chance to make a comeback I won't surrender. But if my teammates are feeding and they just aren't competent enough players then I just don't feel its worth the time and energy to continue.

Honestly, I hate watching channels like this grow. You are just in that sweet spot where the community is so dedicated and you answer every comment. Once people are going to start subscribing more ( which surely will happen if you make more videos of this quality) you might loose this close connection with the community. Makes me sad, but if it's what you are aiming for then I wish you good luck! ;-)

Just a not-so-small note to thank you on this video. Although several of your advice come naturally to me, such as building to counter-act opponents, knowing your role and mastering as many gods in order to know their skill sets and anticipate their moves, the idea of becoming aware of your deaths and reflecting on what went wrong has truly been an eye opener. I used to just throw myself in team fights thinking the more damage or cc I do, the more effective the fight would be. I die, I repeat. While I’m perceived by many as a good, fairly aggressive player, this play style greatly compromised my K/D results and overall effectiveness in many matches. Since I recently started applying this technique, I am now more capable to control my engagement and that of my teammates. Less feeding means more leveling and ability to hold lane. Less focus on kills (and of course the overrated quadra- and penta-kills) means more focus on seizing opportunities and achieving objectives, which is ultimately the key resource for victory. Surprisingly my K/D has soared and when I lose, I’m usually at a great edge and competitive level to opponents which makes me sleep better at night :) Keep those great videos coming bro. This channel is by far the most thorough and enjoyable authority on Smite tips, tricks and game play. Looking forward for many, many more

The never surrender rule is a good rule but it's also rule that I don't follow. I'll surrender if I have trolls on my team or if I have someone that's like 1/12 on my team who clearly has no clue what he's doing. Because then the match has nothing to do with you. It has to do with this asshat who's fucking up. Either on purpose or unintentionally.
@ravaana7093
8 жыл бұрын
+Regal Panda But that doesn't help that player learn. Instead of just giving up, ask to offer some advice. Speaking as someone that has been that 0-12 person, and that couldn't figure out how to get away from a gank, the surrender plus "You suck, noob" comments haven't helped (and never will, for that matter) in any way.
@usaballplayr5
8 жыл бұрын
+Ravaana Darksong The problem is that most of the time (in my experience) when you offer advice, people get defensive (because they think taking help is admitting fault). Therefore, they are angry and tell you to shut up (at the best) and don't listen. Saying things like "hey you are a Ra, let us engage, stay in the back," is usually met with silence or anger, along with them doing the same thing and feeding. I have rarely met anyone in this game who is willing to learn. If they aren't willing to learn, and are feeding their brains out, I might as well just move on to the next game, hopefully with better team mates.
@ravaana7093
8 жыл бұрын
yeah, I know. I have run into that, as well. However, I have found that what works in the professional world (i.e. business) seems to work in game as well. Always lead with "Mind if I offer some advice?" Or something similar. This is asking for permission to do so. It helps the person feel like they are still in control, and not being talked down to. Try not to use negatives. Like Dumb, stupid, blah blah blah. That will, automatically, put people off. Instead make light suggestions. There are different ways, yes. There are, also, a lot of people that are just in a bad mood, for whatever reason. Then there are people that enjoy doing stupid things, for whatever reason. My stupid thing is Attack speed Nu Wa.. I love her, and people get angry about it. Or damage Athena. I ask before I do them, but sometimes people don't see them, or forgot that I said it in chat

+Regal Panda The never surrender rule is a terrible rule tbh, especially for 'new' players you build bad habits when you play from far behind often. You get scared even if you're the fed carry, ect. You end up with people who can make a game 54 kills to 10 and still lose because they are scared to push.

Was just browsing smite videos in my downtime between games and came upon your channel. After watching this vid and listening to your take on "Never Surrender" I decided to sub right away! :) I can't tell you how many times I have begged teams not to surrender, or how many times I have debated until my fingers were sore from typing the multitude of reasons not to surrender a game...There is perhaps no greater feeling in SMITE than that of a hard won victory! To push the enemy team out of your titan room multiple times, to get your team to band together and in sync with one another, and to take home the win... It is EPIC! Until seeing this video, I felt like I was the only one who got it... Thank you! ~ F7 ~

Raynday! I listened to your video today while doing some dishes, and really enjoyed your never surrender attitude. A few hours later, when I had time to game, my team on Assault was behind in kills, gold, and our phoenix was vulnerable. We got wiped fighting on their last turret after barely taking it down. A few people started saying, "Well, gg" or "ANNNNDDD its over.". I remembered your core value and said come on guys, "Keep calm and game on!" With our titan half dead, we all spawned, wiped their team, rushed the Phoenix, and took that down. Then wiped their team again, and laid their titan to rest. A few people messaged me saying how nice to was to have a positive player, and that they wished more were out there. Thank you for one of the most positive gaming experiences I have had in any game. NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER.

I can testify to 6:58. I was playing a 3v3 once, and our team spent the first 10 minutes just barely holding on. We finally managed to pull an upset and had just taken down their pheonix when suddenly they retaliated and wiped the floor with us. It was a team wipe. They pushed all the way past our tower. At that point one of the team members wanted to F6, but I said "Not yet, lets just try one more thing. I have an idea..." I was playing anubis told my teammates I was going for a hail mary and dived into the jungle before the enemy team noticed I had vanished. My team members held the line while I met up with one of our waves that had somehow gotten past the battle that was happening at our pheonix. I pushed this rag-tag wave all the way to the titan, where I used the wave to buy me a few seconds to unload damage on the titan getting it to 50% At that point 1 of my teamamtes died and the enemy began attacking our titan. I Ulted their titan while it began attacking me, and thanks to my insane lifesteal and magic damage I killed it to win the game. I couldn't have done it without my teammates holding the line as long as they did, and I certainly couldn't have done that if I had F6'd.

+Joel Gawne I had a similar situation in Assault. They had been AGGRESSIVELY pushing all game long, and had killed our phoenix at least 5 times; We were all dead (though were almost back) they were assaulting our Titan, and someone tried to surrender. We vetoed it, and they said something like, "There's no point. We're gonna lose." Then, all of a sudden, we got out of fountain and all just completely unloaded everything we had and destroyed them with our Titan only at like 10-20% HP. Immediately we rushed the tower (yeah....we hadn't even taken tower yet) and phoenix and wiped 'em out in about 10 secs. Due to the length of the map, by the time we got to Titan some of them had come back and I could tell two of our team (including the "no point" guy) weren't really trying cause they expected us to fail. They went around hitting the enemies (though it distracted them and titan, so they actually did help) while the other 3 of us went for titan. When the strongest link on their team died, and titan was at half, we developed the best teamwork we had ever had the entire game. Healer did his job well, tank went all-out running around like a crazy person, dragging the titan with him, while we damage dealers crushed the titan. It was probably the best game of my entire SMITE experience. In fact, the "no point" guy got the last kill and last hit on titan. Other team even praised us for staying in the fight.

+shane smith I've answered a similar question to this in the comments section, shane. I appreciate your point of view however. Do you know why I am saying to never surrender, however? Do yo understand the reason I mention this as a tool to get you to become a better player overall? It still applies in a 4v5 situation, but I am just curious as to whether you understand my position that I have taken in the video and in my experience as a SMITE player or if you are asking the question as a means of saying that you don't agree with what I have said. Basically, my goal with never surrendering is not to be unrealistic and assume that every game will be won. It's quite the contrary. It's to allow difficult situations, like 4v5's, to teach us out of the box strategies for succeeding, and force us as player to rise up to the occasion and play under difficult training circumstances. If I ask you to practice running a 100 meter dash in 5 seconds, you may train for quite some time to do this perfectly. It may take a while. But if, after 3 months of training, I then ask you to run a 50 meter dash in 5 seconds, you may do that easily. Tough situations prepare us to be more equipped as players. It's the same with real athletic training. This video is about becoming a better SMITE player, not winning every game. Overall, becoming a better player and learning from tough experiences will lead you to win more often, but I consider moments where things aren't going your way to be some of the best opportunities to learn. Hope that makes sense! I appreciate your comment man!

+shane smith I agree, personally I surrender not because I'm giving up but because I'm not in denial on how a game is going to end. If my team is down 4k gold and 12 kills I'm not going try it win anymore - no point we lost. MOBAs like SMITE have a tendency to have their teams snowball whenever they get a lead. I respect that and say "Hey guys listen, we lost, duo lane phoenix is already being attacked at the 10-minute mark.... Let's just get into a new game." and thus, a new game starts. No sense tryharding a doomed game like this, find different team-mates and pray that RNGesus lets SMITE matchmaking work for once

I really disagree with the "never surrender" one. Ofc, I too 'never surrender', but only as far as my team is willing to play. If my team is trolling, flaming afk. feeding on purpose, then I don't want to play anymore and I suggest everyone else to f6. A 40min. crap match will only breed frustration. Games where your entire team struggles and really tries their best, those are fun
@RayndayGaming
8 жыл бұрын
+DeLiXx I've answered this question about 100 times in the comments section, but I want to honor your comment with a comment of my own. Basically, my goal is to improve. I hear that a crap match isn't fun, but think of it like this. You ask for patience? Then you get a situation in your life where people piss you off. In many ways, this could look like exactly what you didn't want, or it could be seen as a way to practice patience and TRULY master it. Bad situations take place in game. AFK, Trollers, BM and more. When people run from those situations and don't look to resolve them, or practice resolving them, then they inevitably will come up against them again and again. I'm looking to improve in the game in many aspects, and sometimes the game gives me ways to improve in communication, patience, clarifying my decisions with teammates, rallying after a bad team fight and playing carefully etc. There are numerous things that we can glean from every "bad" situation. My goal is to improve. This video is about improving. That rule supports those two things in my experience. NOW, here is the caveat. If you simply want to win, or enjoy yourself and have fun (which is completely fine and a part of video games) then this rule doesn't apply as much. If you always F7 then it doesn't always mean you have fun games or enjoy yourself. It certainly doesn't mean you win more often either. What it does, IMO, is help myself and others improve. If your level of "never surrendering" ends at about 1 AFK and 5k gold down (or whatever you consider enough to surrender) that is fine. Use the rule/s in ways that support you in having a good SMITE experience. This video doesn't imply it's all about winning. It implies my goal is to teach ways to improve that have worked for me. This is one of them. It's fine if you disagree with it, but make sure you understand my ultimate goal with this video and the rule. If you do, and simply disagree that it works, then that we means we just have different experiences in game. Also note that I haven't surrendered a game in a year. I practice what I preach. If you are on the borderline, then just give it a try when you feel like surrendering one game. See if you can find some value out of it. See if you can somehow make it work so that you gain something from that loss or horrible game. See if you can practice patience, or communication, or adjusting your gameplay on the fly to have more success against your opponents. If not - then drop it and do what you feel works! IF it works for you, then keep doing it! Thank you for reading, watching and commenting. Appreciate your engagement on the video and channel. All the best man!

+Raynday Gaming You seem to have put a lot of thought into your moral, which pedagogic worth I don't mean to question, but I bet that part of the reason as to why you were able to follow it for so long must be, that you're probably not solo queing that often. Having a game with a disbalance of experience surely would impact your creativity and push you to towards new heights, but it may very well just lead to frustration when the settings weren't excatly set fair. Imagine a worst case scenario where your loss seems to be unavoidable - no matter your skill -: Such matches tend to cause severe disinterest in the game, which avoidance I would priorise over achieving greatness. With your experience I am sure you had some of those matches that felt like a slideshow. By the way, great channel!

When a player plays so bad I just feel like AFKing, I often go to see his profile and match history. When a dude masters every god and has a handful of Mastery 10 gods, it's just unbelievable that he would still build 3 magical protection items against a team of 3 physical gods (In joust). I've seen that kind of things very, very often and it drives me mad. These guys (aka retards) exist, and no amount of F7 can make you win, especially in conquest; people with no map awareness, that don't rotate or place wards, that keep pushing the tier 1 tower they couldn't touch because they were destroyed in lane), while the teamfight phase comes up... etc. I've been playing for a bit over a month, and I've experienced that it's not about being new or veteran. It's about having common sense; when a player in your team is just that bad, you wish he just didn't connect; at least he wouldn't being feeding or splitting XP. And yes, one can make a difference between ''Yeah, he's having it rough in solo, let's rotate to help" and "I told him in the lobby, Ratatoskr is NOT a good pick for sololaning. What have I done to deserve such poor company?'' And so forth.

Also, I've been following your Chrono 'build', swapping Warlock for Thoth and keeping the last slot as situational rather than just building my progression. Chronos is on my list of gods I wish I could play well and a main reason i came to the game. I've gone 4 to 1 k/d ratio the last few games and just kicking it. Thanks so much.

+pplzdude Absolutely. I even agree with that (given your ultimate goal). For me this is strictly a mentality for improvement. It doesn't mean winning, or enjoying yourself. Hey man, this is a good list. I really appreciate what you said about "staying positive". One of the main reasons I quit Smite was because of the toxic community members. I use to like playing with random people. Now I hate it. Everyone is a critic but no one every gives constructive feedback. You seem like a good dude and your clan sounds like a fun place to be. Keep it up.
@RayndayGaming

Many thanks dude, that means a lot to hear your Positive feedback. I hear you. And I apologize about that. But I believe that the best way to combat that is to create a place where there is a different norm, where things are the way you aspire them to be. I think that's the goal with my clan and with my KZitem. To create a safe haven and constructive and positive place for smite lovers and gamers to interact in a way that encourages everyone to play, enjoy each other, and put their best foot forward. The more this grows, the more this becomes the predominant MO for smite. So that's my intention and I think we have done a great job so far. You are always welcome on both the channel and clan, buddy! All the best :)

The only thing I disagree with is the never surrender attitude, it is a great way to put people on tilt and just generally upset someone who doesn't want to have to fight from behind. But if you run with only full pre-mades from your own clan and they understand that rule, more power to you. But fighting from behind definitely breeds cowards to be honest, I'm a very competitive person but I know when I'm beat and thrashing on the field and feeding my brains out against a medusa who can 2 shot me with just autos is not competitive it is masochism. 9/10 times if 3 of the people in your group want to surrender and you have nothing to show them in the way of hope, you're going to lose, either because you make them mad from forcing them to keep playing a game from behind or just because they go afk out of spite. Don't be those 2 guys that force 3 other players to camp phoenixs for 10 minutes and piss everyone in the game off.

I agree completely with that "Master at least one god of each role" thing, for the longest time I only played Hunters, Mages, and Assassins, and a Warrior(Bellona) as an assassin But recently I've gotten in to actually doing a straight up healthy popular warrior build and I can't believe how much fun I had while doing it! I even got complimented by my team for how well I played, it was amazing! I'm still taking baby steps in to tanking (Especially since season 3) but I have been getting more comfortable with actually getting in to these roles :)

+Wandering Maddie That is a great way to do it, Maddie. Taking baby steps is often hard for some people in SMITE because of the fear of BM when a bad performance shows up. But that is really one of the only ways I know to get better at something I am not currently good at. There is a period of figuring it out, learning from mistakes and ultimately finding my way. Glad to see you taking action. If you ever want to play let me know!

I hate giving up a match and I hate it even more when playing with a team that just wants to give up as soon as things go bad. i play 1 god only, 7k worshipers on Loki. I play him to stay away from my team because my team is the reason why i get deaths. Example, In solo conquest lane, I tell my jungler to NEVER gank, crazy?? well no, i do this to avoid more attention to my self and to avoid the enemy jungler. I follow most rules in this video, but i do f6 if we are losing badly and this is just smarter. f6ing a game and getting to a new one is better for me than wasting another 10-20 minutes losing more. Sure there is always a chance for a come-back but that is really rare and its much faster to just play a new game. Being positive is just blinded reasoning and false motivation. If someone is doing bad, you should mention it, not encourage them. (not to bm)

+Mohammed Ahmed Of course. I hope you know that my intention for you in saying that is to make you better. Not to win. You will not have hope in a lot of games, but those are most often the games that if you commit to problem solving, looking at why you are in the situation you are in, learning to deal with teams that are ahead and seeing what your limitations and what possible strategies of success you can create in those situations, you will become a better player. I think adversity breeds development of certain skills that, when in higher levels of play, will really support you to have in your back pocket. My goal isn't to say that every game is winnable, which I think some people have started to think my tip is about - it's about allowing yourself to learn from not playing well, being in bad situations, and really experiencing them and analyzing them from within, rather than surrendering and chalking it up to a various amount of plausible reasons as to why it happened. Does that make sense? We are actually agreeing, but I'm just speaking on the same subject with a different purpose - player development, not winning!

Please dont teach people to always hit f7. If you fuck up my ranked game and go 0/20 in duo but dont want to surr, you'll get bm'ed for a reason. Its not fun for you or your mates to get stomped by a fed team. You just get tilted. F6 that game, start over again with a fresh game.
@RayndayGaming

+Licious0815 +Licious0815 This is a great example of what a lot of people come up against here in this discussion. I've answered a similar train of logic before, in many other comments, but I'm happy to answer again. I think you believe that the goal of this video is to win, or win more efficiently, or to not ruin a ranked game. Unfortunately, that wasn't my intention. I agree that when winning is simply your motive, then I think quickly f6ing may give you more opportunities to do so. But the point of my last rule, and this video is to improve as a player. In my experience the level of lesson, learning and experience gained from playing a poor game, analyzing your performance, or simply overcoming deficits makes players better. To your logic, anyone who feels that they are behind should just quit, but in competitive play, when money is on the line, that is never an option. Even when you are stomped. The thing is, when you allow yourself to experience defeat or very difficult circumstances in game, you find that you become more accustomed to playing in those situations when they happen and you DON'T want to F6. The thing is many people, and this may not be you, take a very easy road out and quit at the first sight of blood, and avoid learning how to play from behind or overcome a deficit and that truly is not a way to become a better player, from my experience. I have also had my very best and most memorable smite experiences from coming back when all odds were against us, and I wouldn't trade those memories for the world, or the confidence I gained from knowing that even when things are most dire, I believe in my own gameplay and team enough to never count myself out. It also forces me to think strategically and analytically always, whereas many people who F6 just stop thinking and wait for 10 mins so they can end the game, missing some key lessons or opportunities to improve in the mean time. All in all, I appreciate you sharing your opinion. I just happen to really believe there is a lot of value to be had if you play each game doing everything you can to win. Will it result in some horrible losses, yes. And Ultimately, I have found it to also result in my improvement as a player. I've learned more from my losses than my wins. All the best dude and truly thanks for the comment!
@Prayywastaken
8 жыл бұрын
As i said, you just get yourself tilted and you wont learn much from a pupstomp. There is also not much to learn if you go 0/20, because the first 1-5 deaths might've been a mistake done by you, while the rest is just your enemy snowballing over you, limiting your actions drastically. At certain levels of games you dont even have to make mistakes in order to get stomped, its just your mates fucking up by feeding and or not calling misses, incoming enemies, i even had a friend who got caught out of position, said he was killed by all of our enemies ultimates, i walk in to clean up and get a kraken thrown right into my face.
@RayndayGaming

+Licious0815 I believe that we find lessons in things when we look for them. If you are determined not to see any learning opportunities in a loss, then that is gonna be true for you. I agree. I think many people shut off at that point. I know I have at some times. But there is value to be had in different places for different people. I know that adversity is one of the best ways to train for success. I just think that most people would love to win on their way to being a better player rather than lose, but I think that there's a much more well rounded approach in improving your play. I say never surrender not because you have to "never" surrender, ever. I say it because I think when people live by this rule, they open themselves up to all the game has to offer, and just do their best and forget the rest. If they really committ, and know that no matter what, they are in it until the end, a lot of people end up just making the most of it. Maybe it means getting stomped some more, but maybe it means having a few good moments and rallying as a team. Maybe it means just gaining more determination and focus for your next game because you are so upset about your last one. There is value where you choose to find it, I believe. But, definitely see where you are coming from. I'm offering a relatively new and radical point of view but it's just something I speak about strongly as I've experienced the personal benefits. The other thing I believe strongly is that this may not work for you. And it doesn't have to. That is OK. So no need to agree with me. But I appreciate us being able to discuss our opinions and have a conversation that may help elucidate some of these points to other viewers and readers and also potentially give ourselves a greater point of view and perspective. All the best man!

I am in absolute awe of this guide. Humor where it's warranted, and very informative. Admittedly, it can get a little frustrating when I'm in a Joust with randoms and they have no idea what they're doing with their selected god, but I stay as positive as I possibly can. And this is coming from someone who used to main Medusa and Janus exclusively. I have recently come to realize how important getting used to every class can be for the overall impression/enjoyment of Smite, because there are a ton of gods. There is likely going to be one of every class for (almost) every play style. This game is wonderful, and the recent release on PS4 means the community is likely (hopefully) going to be better for a multitude of reasons. Hopefully, I can spread some 'Raynday' (GIGGITY DENIED) on my console bretheren. :D

4/5 Yes. Never surrender? Yeah, guys, not all of us have infinite amount of time to play. If you're 0/8 (game kills, not your KD) @ 6mins and the other team is clearly better, why drag it out? why not just surrender and maybe have another game where the odds are better? It always irks me when people don't surrender if the game is VERY clearly one-sided (say 3v5 or total kills are at 2 to 47 at 12 mins). It's just wasted time after that. If I have 45minutes per day to play, I'd much rather "lose" just one 10min to a surrender than drag out a 35min loss and not even have a chance at winning that day because something happened that threw the game early on.

I'd like to ask a question. Would you prefer winning? Having fun? Or becoming a better player, even if it means not having fun and not winning that day. This is a distinction you are making with your comment, as the way I see it, you are saying that your enjoyment of the singular game, and lack of time or using your time for as much gaming as possible is most important. I agree with you my man. I really do. There are some situations where it's obvious there is too big of a gap for anything to be done. The majority of people who surrender do NOT surrender at that gap. They surrender much earlier. For the reasons I mentioned. This video is about how to become a better player. Many athletes and professional players or champions will tell you that losing is not fun. But it teaches you some of the best lessons, and in my life I have found this to be true, about how to win. That's my opinion. I believe that the lessons in losing are often so valuable that they make us better.

Positive thinking, also, breeds creativity. Like placing traps ontop of other traps, or dodging towards instead of away! I had a match where we were down 45-32. And I had an idea to kite the team around using Artemis' traps, sprint, and otherwise speedyness. In short, I lead them half way down the lane, and ditched into the jungle. Only to circle back and hit the titan, while they thought I had backed. :)

Hey Rayn, great video, as always! I have a question for you, though. I've been trying to expand my horizons as per your #4 tip - I started with only playing mages because I always main mage in every game ever, magic is my schtick, and I loved it. But when I started solo queing in casual and ended up on teams of four mages and a hunter, I figured I should start playing something else. So I moved to guardian, mained Khepri for about a month, and had a great time and Guardian is now my favorite archetype. Moving to to other archetypes, I keep finding gods that I enjoy - except assassins. I'm completely, 100% garbage with every assassin I've tried so far and I feed mercilessly. What's your advice as to who I should try to learn, as someone who is pretty bad with the whole assassin group? Who's the most noob-friendly one of the bunch?

Sometimes you should just surrender tbh, once you've learned what you can about playing from behind and dealing with less competent teammates. Certain matches are just a waste of time. Personally, as an ADC main, I've fucked up and fallen behind more than a few times. If my team is doing good I'll hang on and try to play it out, but if we're down 10k at 15 minutes I just want to start another game where I can take what I learned and apply it. So I'd never say "never" lol

@ScentSense

Dc Pl I love Apollo, he was my 3rd diamond :). He's extremely safe, easily the safest of the hunters. He has a long mez, a CC immune ult that flies him around, and at the end of his dash (in the circle AoE thing on the targeter) he applies a movement speed buff to himself and allies and a debuff to enemies. Simply put, you can get him in a sticky situation and he'll just mez you and ult away. On top of his safety his monstrous passive gives him hyper carry potential (after 10 successful autos he gains 100% attack speed for his next 5), which is super effective lategame but is also a tool for getting surprise kills during the early laning phase. Apollo's basics have the highest base damage of any hunter (tied with Anhur: 43 damage at level 1) and people don't really expect to be hit with more than 2 of them per second at such an early point in the game. Every enemy (minions included) you dash through gives him a stack on his passive, so you can get it up pretty unexpectedly while the other ADC is out of position and punish the crap out of them. He's the true king of split push with his passive giving him the boosted DPS and his ult giving him the ability to just fly out and get to safety. He works extremely well in solo lane, as he's is one of the only hunters who stands a chance at fighting Bellona (who's super popular in solo) since he can mez her hammer and stop her clear. His lategame is destructive. Maybe not QUITE on the level of Xbal or Rama, but it's damn close. When he has full build and his passive comes up, you either run away or die. 50% base chance (assuming you picked up Rage and Deathbringer, which you should have) of a 700+ crit at 2.5 attack speed for 5 attacks in a row is terrifying. Gotta love his Elite Agent skin as well ;) A lot like Thor or Bellona, there's rarely a time where picking Apollo detracts from your team. He's always a neutral or positive pick because he's never really helpless *cough* AMC/Artemis *cough* like other hunters tend to be, and when he comes online he comes online HARD. He's one of those gods who I think everybody should get comfortable, if not excellent with. Now for Ullr..

Ullr is a bit different than other hunters. What he lacks in AoE damage he makes up for in sheer kit versatility. Versatility, in the MOBA sense, is usually synonymous with difficulty however, and he's not at all easy to get into. He has a stun, a leap, a line damage ability, a long range ground target ability, a power steroid, a movement steroid, and passive attack speed and lifesteal depending on what stance he's in. Ullr is the god of cold calculation. Easily one of the highest skill ceiling gods (up there with Awilix), he also has a pretty high skill floor. When you first pick him up you're going to be spastically pressing buttons trying to make him work, and it's not going to. Lol One of the things (yes, there's a few) that makes Ullr unique is that he's a hybrid ability/AA based hunter. His full combo (stun axe into bow stance 3+1 with an auto just after the stance switch and an auto after the 1 lands) will slaughter just about anything (does about 75-80% of an enemy ADC's health) without a defensive item or two, especially once he has 2-3 items online (with his ridiculously high mana usage, one of them is going to be Transcendence). Early to mid game he's going to be reliant on his combo to get him kills, but as he transitions into the late game and gets points in his 2 & 4 (you want to max his 1 & 3 before putting points in either one) he becomes AA based. The usual Transcendence hunter build (Season 2: Trans -> Tabi -> Soul Eater -> Exec -> Rage -> DB) is what's best imo. He can be played efficiently in almost any role, from ADC to solo to jungle and even support, which I'll get into now. Because Ullr has the highest base HP of the hunters, as well as passive AS and lifesteal, he can be built a bit differently and still do very well. Something like: Breastplate -> Trans -> Warrior Tabi -> Frostbound -Urchin/Exec -> Exec/Urchin can turn him into an efficient bruiser. I'd give you more on him but I'm getting distracted, get back at me with any specific questions and I'll do my best to answer :)

See, I massively disagree with the surrendering point. You can say "Well, you'll learn something". That's fine. Learning to play from behind is fine. Here's the thing: Sometimes you are being completely fucked, especially if you aren't with clanmates and are just playing with randoms. You're down to one tower by 20 minutes and haven't even touched theirs because your jungler is five levels behind, your mage called you a faggot, your support is using racial slurs and your hunter has disconnected. The way that Smite's current system is, if you leave, only you're going to be punished for THEIR behavior. Let's be 100% honest with ourselves, this game has a horrible community full of rude, racist, inconsiderate people, and I hate the fact that I can't leave games because "Never surrender" is a mentality, and I can be banned if I get enough reports for leaving games where two people are just VELing at spawn for ten straight minutes.

Actually I think Smite has a great community and the rude toxic people are the minority.

Ludicrous Stier Yeah, the issue is that HiRez is pretty scared of actually doing anything about it. Their bands are pretty insignificant when they're issued at all, and they aren't common at all, so there really isn't a way to weed out the shittiness.

+ImJTHM Surprised I didn't respond to this! Thanks for the comment man! After reading your comment it seems like you haven't had the best SMITE experience to date. I really haven't shared your opinion about the community! In fact, I find it to be one of the, if not THE best MOBA community in terms of positive mannered people and interactions in comparison to LOL, DOTA 2 or even HOTS. However, I want to address something you said that was interesting to me. You can always leave games, my friend. You don't have to adopt these rules. Even if someone else, or the entire team adopts these rules - you can still leave the game. If your goal is to just enjoy yourself and have fun playing SMITE, then I highly encourage you to NOT use this rule and only partake in situations that bring you joy..this is a GAME after all :) This is really a rule for those who want to get better, and part of their joy in playing SMITE comes from improving and moving into a consistently higher level of play. Never Surrendering is a way to do this. It isn't always fun, it often takes a lot of time, and definitely isn't always easy or realistic. But when done, the benefits are great. Check out the latest TOP 5 I made regarding this for more of my thoughts about this rule. Would love to hear your thoughts on what I'm saying. I'd find it interesting! Thanks for sharing your opinion on here my man! All the best and talk soon, hopefully! If you ever need some more positive people to play with - you know where to find me :) kzitem.info/news/bejne/rquX3YGJjZF7gH4&google_comment_id=z12rc3gjrrrrxj5dq23rsdsgoxzzvbtdv&google_view_type#gpluscomments

Raynday Gaming Yeah, and I feel you. I have my own clan that I play with when I'm on. Still, I feel like the game being free means its extremely easy to abuse. I love the game, people are just terrible and will always ruin things for others, know what I mean?

Maybe those 20 kills for your team wouldn't have been possible without you. As stated in the video "5. Be POSITIVE". It's not the KDs that define your skills, but your gameplay itself.

I totally agree with this, I already take all of these steps and I do great in Smite! The only problem I have is with the first step, knowing how I die and changing it. I usually let my emotions overrun me and go into battles trying to avenge friends or get revenge, you should post a video showing how we can avoid stuff like that, it'd be a great help, thanks!

N console there is som much more surrendering because there is no option to chat to team besides just quick chat so there is no point in trying to deal with a team you can't communicate against a team were struggling to fight.

I'm three tips in and I'm just thinking "This can apply to all games really." P.S. I love that never surrender tip. I always hate when my team surrenders or (in other games where you can leave) leaves games because they're losing. Sometimes you learn the most from your losses. I come from LoL and Overwatch and I've always believed in that same mindset, never surrender. There have been so so many games where people kept putting a vote in for a surrender, I'd decline it, and then we'd win. Anyways, well done on the tips.

Raynday Gaming For sure man. I think I will be sticking around and seeing what more there is on here and there are some cool stuff. It's already helped out since I am slowly learning how to counter build. My clan helps me out too since we're friends and recently getting the god pack lets me try out all the different gods. I think watching people who know what to do (while they're on the mic) like on twitch helps. I used to suck sooo bad with warriors but i watched someone play Chaac and actually looked up some builds and now im a MONSTER with him...hearing people call out plays and explain why they're using at what times helped me alot overall

I have to add the point to learn the maps you are playing on and what the Jungle Camps on the map can do. I had an 1 hour game on Joust once and just knowing this little Detail what the Bull Demon King does (if you don't know he gives a nice buff and stops the enemys tower or phoenix, depending on what you have to fight at the kill of the bdk from attacking you) helped me to guess (we had so many problems we couldn't think about warding everytime ... another good tip is to know where to ward and of course to just ward as often as possible ;D) where they are and let me steal the Bull Demon King more then 5 times in this one game. At the End of the game we could turn around everything, fight them back and win. So "knowing the map" and "don't forget to ward" are my tips that I would add :)

I had this one guy in a game today. He was 19/1/0, I was not doing my best, to say the least. When we lost the game, he told us to uninstall so that we don't stop him from "reaching greatness". Here's the kicker, he was Rama, was only ever Rama, and we were in casual conquest.

I'm gonna be starting smite, but it's much different than other games. Each person takes a role, but where is that role assigned? Is there a jungle to farm? A bot lane with carry and support? What should I be expecting from each of these roles?

I love that number 5 is "stay positive." It really ruins my experience when maybe I make a mistake as support and get caught in a sobek-pluck + neith root and I get killed in the first two minutes and my carry is immediately like "you rock you rock you rock you rock." Like...I get it, I did something dumb, but let's keep playing and recover from that because we weren't going to win in 15 minutes with a 60-0 kill score anyway. When I'm on comms I always try to be that guy who says "don't worry about it" or "plenty of game left" and I genuinely believe it makes for a better game/team/experience.

Over my 2000 games of smite played, I can not stress how important it is to be able to play at least one god from each glass. And while I main assassins, there is at least two gods in each role i can play to a decent degree, the one exception being guardians in which i can only really play ares very well.

Honestly, Raynday I don't know if you'll read this comment but I want you to know that for the past month and a half I've been seriously trying to improve my smite play. This video was one of the first ones I ever watched and I really took these tips to heart. I can tell you that I've improved by leaps and bounds and have become a much, much, better player after watching this video. However I soon after started watching live streams and not KZitem. This caused me to forget about your tip on positivity and lately the community has been such a toxic environment that I've considered dropping the game altogether a few times. Your channel is such an inspiration to me. I really appreciate your content because it's like breathing clean air inside of a toxic environment. I think for the first time in my history of watching KZitem I'm not only a fan of the content on a channel but I'm a fan of you as a person.
