He truly missed a chance to be a voice for the Black community and expose our darker (ha) inclinations and what's wrong with our mindset. In Acrimony, the wife played a huge role in the outcome of the situation. However, to suggest that she just gave up is summing the situation down unfairly. This chick stayed down with this fool for 20 years. She used her inheritance to pay for his education, car, and financially support him over the course of decades. That is not a display of giving up on someone. He was using her. He got way more out of the situation than she ever did. Some thing was off with her the first day them met. He still decided to pursue a relationship. To be honest, she should have dropped him when she caught him cheating in college. Her mistake was staying at the party too long. Then, after she decided to stay, she fumbled. There are not a lot of women out there who would have done this. If she hadn't, he wouldn't have had the opportunity to get the big win in the end. The real message of the movie was to get the help you need because both of them were flawed, and that is putting it lightly.
@marlondavis9450

That movie is incredible because the fact his plan actually worked after their marriage was crazy. Then for her to go crazy because his idea actually worked after she gave up on him was ridiculous. No one was right but obviously she’s more wrong in the situation & the joke is most women still sided with her crazy ass.
@elizabethjonesb2b
17 күн бұрын
@marlondavis9450 I have to say both were equally wrong. I refuse to believe that man didn't know what he was doing. There wouldn't have been a battery if it wasn't for his wife sacrifice. He knew he had the right one from the beginning. She had the opportunity to leave him over the years, but she didn't because she believed in the fairytale he was selling. Now, when she left and he got on and repaid her for everything, that was for her to move on. She wanted too much in the end. On top of everything, it was with the woman he cheated on her with, and from her perspective was the cause of why she couldn't get pregnant. A lot of men feel the new girl was somehow better because she "believed" in him. The truth is that it is easy to come in and finish the job after someone else did all the work over 20 years.

He approaches this in a comedic way but it doesn’t change. How many times have you’ve heard someone say “stop acting light skin” ie sensitive/soft. For the dark skin men part I agree it’s the same with the women tho too we either the villains or destitute (drug addicts, broke and struggling ) even in his plays or always a clown like mr. Brown .

A large portion of Tyler Perry's success is due to his actors. He has to pay them well because his projects would not be as successful if they were not exceptional.

TP was a good writer early on, but between 2014 and 2017, his work started falling off. By 2018, you could tell that he was getting really complacent and lazy.

See this is what I love, as a Tyler Perry watcher there is a hierarchy with his films. Kind of good, trash but enjoyable, and then simply trash that send a terrible message at that.

Oh my goodness I so agree with you, but there’s one other movie. I think it’s the Madea funeral or something and the guy just kept saying, my daddy just died, my daddy just died, my daddy just died what don’t you understand and I was like oh my goodness how many times is he going to say that line lol and that movie divorced in the black that funeral scene was stupid and I didn’t like how all of a sudden all his movies have so much cursing in it and Megan is not the actress that is known to curse she sounded so stupid lol

I got the message of Acrimony the first time. I don’t know how people got that he was wrong in this movie. She gave up on him. She ran into his trailer with her car and ruined her chances of getting pregnant. She chose to stay with him. She was constantly causing issues in the marriage and was holding him back. He paid her ass for everything that she did do and even saved the house. The people that agree with her character are narcissistic and blame everyone else for their failures. Narcissism is supposedly more common in men, but I think it’s just normalized when it’s displayed by women. The whole “I’m a strong independent woman” is a form of narcissism that she doesn’t need ANYONE and can do it all on her own for her own glory. Ignoring the government assistance, parents, family members, and friends that assist her in her success. We ALL need others to help us succeed. NO ONE does it all on their own. I work incredibly hard, but I acknowledge the Most High is the driving force behind my success and the people he has placed in my life.

Madea’s Happy Family should be on this list as well. That movie’s climax filled me with so much rage. Tyler Perry wrote and entire cast of characters with problems that he could have had them solve through character development and what does he do? He has Madea tell everyone what to do, they do exactly that--end movie. He is the LAZIEST writer I have ever seen.

For Madea's family reunion what else I could not tolerate, how evil the mother was dude. Sadly I get some bad mothers would do what she did to her kids, but the fact she never got any severe punishment AT ALL angered me. The most that happened to her was at the tail end where she shames her abused daughter for leaving her abuser, straight up guilt tripped her and Madea told her to shut up. That's it. We find out she let her second husband assault her oldest daughter, forced her second daughter to stay with her abuser and never apologized once, but that's it. 😂

His movies always have the same concept someone is either cheating or getting abused or family problems or drugs then magically find happiness its okay for the 1st 3 movies,but then it's like damn all black people dont have drama we do have happy times

Diary of a mad black woman scarred me. I’m thinking it’s supposed to be a comedy (based on the promotion I’ve seen), by the time I watched it I was offended.
