Mason Miller appears to be a blown out throwing arm waiting to happen, and frankly, I've seen enough can't miss A's pitchers fail spectacularly in the Bronx. The cost will be way too high and the risk far too great. No thank you on Miller.

There is always the risk of injury when trading for pitchers and I don’t believe that should be any reason to not trade for a guy. Also, this isn’t Sonny Gray or Frankie Montas, Mason Miller is about as much of stud coming out of the bullpen as we have seen. It would cost a lot, which is a fair enough reason to pass in him, but don’t think for a second he wouldn’t turn the Yankees bullpen in one of the best in the game.

Mason Miller scares me when he pitches against us, but he’d scare me pitching FOR us……I think he’s a short rest away from TJ surgery. He’s already had UCL and shoulder issues in the past couple years, which, I get it….it’s kinda the norm anymore. Don’t forget, just a few years ago, Miller was 155 lbs. Can his body handle the torque he puts on that elbow? If the price is right, I guess it’s worth the risk, but…..

The Yankees need a closer. I love Clay Holmes; he is a fantastic contact pitcher, but you don't want him in extra innings. You cannot allow the man on second to score and that is hard for a contact pitcher to do in extra innings.

When I watched the Yanks play Oakland and Mason Miller shut our guys down twice that series, first thing I said was wow that kids a freak. Then I thought, one day he’ll be a Yankee.

Why all the pitchers? You really feel the Yanks have such need for pitching? Maybe a reliever but I think they need a first or third baseman more than anything, and the long shot of getting rid of Torres for a better hitter at 2nd base.

Any Pitcher from the A's a no go for me. Any other team I'm open to,and we beed an elite closer. If we get THAT GUY,we can trade Holmes, another good arm, or two for the pen, another good starter,or two,and another good bat,or two,and trade Torres.

Considering we have our third basemen hitting in the nine hole, they've done enough. With the return of DJ, we will have to see how he comes back, but I'm comfortable going with a platoon of Cabrera and someone to face lefties. I'm more concerned with the fact Gleyber is costing us games with his poor defense and base running. Even during his modest hot streak the past couple weeks, he probably cost us 2-3 games because he made a bad error or got picked off to stall a rally. My move would be immediately promoting Persuasive has a couple months to show what he's got before the deadline. And if he hasn't played well enough, make a move for a second baseman.

At their current status, the A's would be crazy not to trade Miller this year. His value will never be higher and the A's are on a multi-year restructure/rebuild. He is fearsome; the Goose Gossage of this era, and would significantly improve any contender's "right-now" chances. Having him and moving Holmes down to mostly the 8th inning or earlier high-leverage situations would transform our iffy bullpen (let's be honest) into more of a powerhouse (although I think they could use even one more reliable, preferably lefty, arm to be fully complete). On the other hand, if offered, Miller is almost certain to command an absolute King's ransom. Given his health and style of pitching (high arm stress), he is high risk, health-wise, for the longer term.

No doubt Miller would be a huge add but they are going to want a kings ransom for that many controllable years and very few relievers can be consistently good year after year. Plus he has an injury history so I'd be reluctant to give up the farm for him.

@@christian37837 it either went over your head or you need to brush up on your reading comprehension. Follow the bouncing ball……I. Did. Not. Say. They. Were. Bad. Still with me? I’ll let you take a break…………………what the comment meant was that starters only go 5 innings. Cortes….5.8 innings. Gil…5.7. Rodon…5.6. Stroman…5.6. Poteet….5.4. Schmidt…5.4 as opposed to Roy Halladay for instance who averaged 7 innings a game FOR HIS CAREER. It’s funny how the narrative is pitch count/innings, being soooo careful, yet, more guys are getting injured than ever. Hence my comment, it would be nice if they didn’t have to carry so many relief pitchers, and focus on the lineup. That’s why the 98’ yanks were one of the best teams of all time. Starting staff average 7+ innings, and the yanks used Jeff Nelson, Stanton, Lloyd (lefty specialist) and Rivera. That’s it! lol and were absolutely stacked 1-9 in their lineup/defense in the field. Now because theses guys are trying to blow their arms out by throwing as hard as they can, they have to waste salary on extra pitchers who can hold it down for HALF a game!
