I have four cats with flea infestations and will be implementing many of these tips! But I will actually be using bug bombs to treat most of my apartment, I've done this before when we had an ant infestation so I know it works! I put the cats in a separate room or area of the apartment then I duct tape the door to the room with the bug bomb and I do this to each area of the house until every section is treated, moving the cats and myself accordingly. It's a length process for sure but I want to be absolutely certain I stamp out these fleas. My babies will no longer suffer! Best of luck to everyone treating flea infestations.

@66anf

Journey Towards Salvation Bravecto is prescription only, so you would have to get a prescription from a vet. You can fill the prescription at your vets office or a pet store like Petco/Chewy. One dose costs about $60 but it lasts 3 months, which is long enough time get rid of them for good if your cat is always indoors. You need something that works for at least a month because fleas lay eggs that drop around the house. I also tried vacuuming w/ a flea collar inside the canister but honestly I think the Bravecto solved the problem for me. Good luck! Fleas suck...

I found out it does work though by spraying it on fleas I captured to do tests on to see what works. I use it constantly but I think it may irritate my girl’s throat so I be sure and air the room out after I use it.

If 1 have 2 cat. Is it ok if they both have collars. What if they lick each other?
@AllAboutCatsYT
2 жыл бұрын
In theory, it should be safe for the cats to lick one another, but I've grown increasingly cautious of the Seresto flea collar. It has been connected to almost a hundred thousand reports of illness, including over 2,000 deaths, and the company refuses to recall them as requested by the U.S. Committee on Oversight and Reforms' subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy. And the EPA seems to have stayed quiet on it, which is also worrying. oversight.house.gov/sites/democrats.oversight.house.gov/files/2022.06.15%20ECP%20Seresto%20Staff%20Report%20FINAL.pdf

My cat is a Russian Blue. She had a reaction to a spot-on on back of her neck. Created a bald spot. Took around a month to grow back in. I put the cat in an upstairs bedroom. I took the cat room & bombed it with Hot Shot bedbug/flea bombs. I then vacuumed the room good & mopped. I bought the cat back in & applied Zodiac spray on her. I then combed it in. No more black flecks being combed out & her coat looks good now. I'm not sure why she had a reaction 2 months after the last Bayer spot-on treatment. It may not be that. She also was recently fed some ocean fish cat food. Could have been an allergy or an itch from the fleas. I'm afraid to try another spot-on. Is there a better brand than Zodiac to spray her? It doesn't last that long.

Hey Luna, while the oral medications shown here haven't been evaluated for safety in pregnant or nursing cats, you can safely use certain topical medications on your pregnant kitty. The Frontline Plus shown in this review is considered safe for lactating mother cats, so I would consider it as an option for her. Hope this helps you decide what to do!

Hello Nhu, Advantage II is a good option! It's made with well-established, safe insecticides and has a good reputation overall. I would recommend it. As for dewormers, I would advise Baeyr's Drontal broad-spectrum dewormer. It targets tapeworms, roundworms, and hookworms, so it covers both of the types of worms you're interested in eliminating. Frontline. I used to use it on my cats. Then for some reason it hit me as to how safe was it for humans. I became paranoid when I noticed how long it took to dry on my cats and how greasy it made them. I didn't want to touch them after applying. I tried doing research to find out if it was really safe for humans and cats but couldn't find any at the time so I quit buying it.

The vets best spray does not work. Fleas seemed to be unphased by the spray on my cats, and I continued to see eggs and dirt on my bed. sofas. And hard surfaces. I used the capstar tablets yesterday, and gave them all a dawn bath and after vacuuming all fabric surfaces to hatch the Eggs I sprayed with the hot shot bedbug and flea killer with egg killer. THE STUFF CAUSES SERIOUS RESPIRATORY ISSUES, I was coughing and sneezing, and had a lot of mucus coming from my sinuses. But my cats seemed to be unphased. After waking up this morning I did not have fleas in my bed, despite all 3 of my cats being in bed with me (my youngest sleeps above my head on my pillows). I sprayed the hot shot spray onto my bed after fixing it this morning and I’ll be giving the cats a second dose of capstar this afternoon before combing them with a flea comb. I will grab the raid spray today, hopefully it is not as strong as the hot shot spray but spraying and killing the ones in your home while the capstar does it’s thing to kill and prevent the fleas on your animal is your best bet in finding relief. After $200 of wasting money I am starting to see an improvement but to be sure I’ll keep spraying, and provide my cats with a frontline plus topical treatment. Thank you for the suggestions!! A flea problem gets out of control fast- I would rather have a roach issue! Make sure you are all taking preventive measures to keep your cats from bringing fleas into your home over the upcoming summer months!!

I made a comment about how seresto and capstar almost killed my cat. I made a mistake, seresto yes causes my cat to have violent seizures even if she's around the dogs with collars on or flea meds on they're backs. But capstar was a chewable we gave the dogs and worked great for them. Being that its not a topical I don't believe it contributed to my cats seizures. I only gave them to my dogs. I just remembered those two brands when I typed my first comment

People you need to watch Paw Paw's 50 cent flea treatment on KZitem, I put it on my dogs and it worked for a whole year , then I put a small amount mixed with a little bit of water between my cats shoulder blades and i rubbed it in around the neckline and i gave them milk in case of poisoning and it worked for a whole year too, The flea treatment is green colored but it fades away in a couple of weeks, Just keep them from licking themselves for awhile. The best flea treatment I ever seen.

@AllAboutCatsYT

Hello Ange, a long-haired cat's fur will generally take between 4-6 months to regrow, so I'd put it at about 4 months out. He should have a fair amount of regrowth by the time the weather turns cooler.

@@AllAboutCatsYT Thank you. Very helpful and appreciated. I tried the food grade DE Earth, flea spray, spot on Frontline. Not made any difference this year. I am in SE England, and have never before know so many fleas to grow so fast. I can't keep putting chemicals on him, nor using a harsh metal flea comb 3-4 times a day as it could make his skin sore. Nor can I keep using my small finger nail to go into his face fur and flick them out. It's like prodding him in the face and even though he tries to bear with it, he is becoming wary of me. I know bathing cats can rob them of oils and make their skins vulnerable to infection. So a gentle shaving seems to be the only answer but maybe for next year now, as we have had rain and cooling since I asked (which will help kill them off when I let him out again). 4-6 months here and it will be the depths of winter with possibly freezing temperatures.

What about coconut oil?
@AllAboutCatsYT
4 жыл бұрын
Coconut oil is a folk remedy for fleas on dogs and cats, purportedly thanks to its lauric acid content. Lauric acid may act as a mild flea deterrent, but I haven't been able to find any clinical studies demonstrating its efficacy. It won't hurt your cat, but coconut oil-used in any capacity-will not wipe out a flea infestation.
