I recall the one time I was at disney, and I wanted to try out the Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough, but my dad didn't know it existed, so we spent about ten minutes disagreeing over whether it was a real thing or not. He was surprised when I showed him it.

Same here! My mom hadn’t been to DL in over 15 years and I told her about the walkthrough (which I had done before) and she didn’t believe me when I said it was a thing lol! She also didn’t know about the DL Railroad or that you could go on the Mark Twain. Now she’s just as obsessed with the parks as I am!

I will always remember when I was a child my stepdad and I went trough the Nautilus attraction and I got so scared of the Squid I ran through the whole attraction back to my mum and started crying. When I look back at it, it wasn’t that scary but as a child it was terrifying.

It's also been in b-mode for years (I'm not even certain if there's video of it in its full a-mode), so there's a chance it really was scarier than you remember.

Randy Sorry I’m dumb but what is A and B mode?
@madderandmadder
4 жыл бұрын
@@showboy6649 You're not dumb! It's not common knowledge. When an animatronic is operating to its full extent, working exactly the way it's supposed to, it's in A mode. The animatronic is put into B mode when critical functions aren't working, or if operating it like usual would damage the animatronic or the attraction (for example, the yeti in Expedition Everest is in B mode because it was so powerful it was cracking the foundation it sat on). B mode means it has minimal movement and is scaled back, but still functions enough for the ride or show to be operational. I've really only ever heard it used in regards to the massive and highly complex animatronics, like the yeti and the squid. More modern rides like Rise of the Resistance and Naavi River Journey have B modes that involve screens-- they'll remove the animatronic from the ride for maintenance and will replace it with a screen that plays an alternate sequence, so that the ride can still operate but you're not looking at a Kylo Ren that isn't moving.
@showboy6649

@@madderandmadder I remember going to Disneyland Paris and not knowing the squid was an animatronic. I thought it was a screen! Though to be honest the whole Nautilus walk through can be quite scary for younger children.
