Oooo.. top down is my favorite. My game on top down has been amazing to make. Movement, hotboxes for Fighting, health and experience system, inventories and interactable objects. Gonna be a great series!

I'm excited for this one. This was my favourite genre growing up, so it should be fun to explore it more. I'm looking forward to researching some topics along the way, too, since this is a departure from my game's genre.

Absolutely love this tutorial! Im just struggling a bit changing void Update() to void FixedUpdate(). I keep getting the following error: "The referenced script (Unknown) on this Behavior is missing!" Everything else is working fabulously. TIA!

That message means you have an error in a line of code somewhere in the script, or sometimes that the name of the script doesn’t match the name at the top of the class (inside the script). Fixed Update shouldn’t be the issue unless there is a misplaced bracket or spelling error or something.

my sprite editor says that no texture or sprite is selected when I try to open it

Make sure that your texture type (top) is set to Sprite (2D and UI)

I can't add Rigidbody to the Player in the Script. Why is that?

Make sure that it is Rigidbody2D you are adding, and that your code includes the 2D part... that's usually the reason.

I know this is an older comment, but for anyone else who's having trouble with this, make sure you also have the proper extensions required for Visual Studio to communicate with Unity. I had the Unity extension and C# and C# Devkit installed, but was missing the .NET Install Tool the C# extensions needed. Adding that got everything working properly for me. Not sure if this is obvious to everyone else, but I'm new coming from Godot, so still getting everything set up 😅
