I was a casual cross country mountain biker, did the occasional single track, I do live in a MTB Mecca… demoed and rode my first full suspension this year, bought one 6 weeks ago and ride nearly everyday. Everytime I am going downhill and use less brakes, lean into turns harder, charge rock gardens faster, feel the bike feeling lighter while linking turns… I think of this video, darn! :)

Man... It's freakin' 115 degrees here in the summer! I really love my fingerless gloves! Now my fingers are going to sweat too... But the real reason I wear them, and you should definitely understand this BoBo, is because it's nearly impossible to work 2 action cameras, a cellphone for navigation and camera, a watch for turning action camera on and off and changing songs, as well as the volume control on my wireless headset, when wearing gloves with fingers... So I have a good excuse.

Full finger gloves, don't need them until you do. Have a 1/4 scab. with and with out on the tree would have taken a lot more, This is from retired heavy construction worker. Last. Picked up a rodie on very first MTN bike ride. Hey sailor we will show you a good time. 45 mins later at average 6 miles/hr. wow this is intense. speed up/ slow down every root and rock has a minor adjustment. that becomes muscle memory. I did the opposite. I went from mountain biking to road biking. Helmet (with visor), SPD pedals, mtb shoes, baggies, t shirt (hadn't earned my first "century" jersey yet - that came many long, miserable hours later when I was starting to wonder if my saddle had fallen off and I was sitting on the seat post), and a fully loaded Camelbak. Hadn't joined the cool guy roadies club quite yet (they made me ride in the back). In time, I figured out how awesome bibs, road shoes, road pedals, water bottles, jersey pockets and small saddle bags with CO2 cartridges were....😅

Personally, every crash Ive ever had, knee pads would be the last item i need. A chest protector/pad, and shoulder/elbow pads have always been more useful. Hell, even a sturdy longsleeve shirt is more useful than knee pads for the forearm protection. Lets be honest, most people crash going OTB, or a combo of falling sideways and otb, your knees are the last part to need protection in those cases. Id even wear hip pads before knee pads. I think most people wear them to complete the "look" and never really need them.
