When our kids were little, I would buy snacks like crackers, granola bars, small water bottles, or juice boxes from the store to bring to the park. Then, got Disney stickers from the dollar store and stuck them on all the treats. My kids thought it was so cool to have Disney snacks ;)

For my little ones we implement the "Disney Fairy". Every night in the hotel the fairy brings a small souvenir for each kiddo. The souvenirs are cheap and usual useful Disney related items. A coloring book, Target bubble wand, Disney tee shirt from Walmart, glow sticks, etc. it keeps us from buying souvenirs in the park and makes those activities we would already bring in the park more exciting. It has become ny kid's favorite part of our trip!

Also, the City of Riverside provides a fwy shuttle (RTA route 200) to Honda Center and Disneyland every 90 minutes for $3.50 (free on Fridays until June 2024). Something you can do to save money on tickets too is to check work savings programs or go through membership programs like Costco or Sam’s Club. Anaheim has a shuttle system that goes around all the hotels called ART. You can stay a mile or 2 away and take the shuttle to the park for $6 a day and you can take as many trips that day as you want. The hotels farther away have deals like free parking, free shuttle passes and free hot breakfast. It’s worth it to get more for less and a nicer hotel!

Aloha Amazing Chris Provost. First the three day pass is a great option for me. I am 70 and I just do not have the energy to park hop..or hop about anywhere really. What works best for me is DL first day..DCA day two (reasoning here is simple..the park closes earlier and I will be a bit tired from the day before. DCA is not really a full day park anyway for me and I do not drink so.)..I can still get on some DCA only rides and see World of Color and get back to my hotel before 12. I can maybe get more sleep and be ready for my last day..no park hopper needed.

Hey Chris- This is all great information and I am so happy to know this. As a person growing up in the Disney realm, my thing was to always get food in the park. Now as an adult, I am understanding how expensive food in theme parks have been getting nowadays. Next time I visit the park, I will have to bring in my own food and drink. I booked a reservation to eat at Lamplight Lounge and I had to wait a 1/2 hour. What I did in that time frame was go on Little Mermaid and I got a buzz on my phone stating that my table was ready. That is a lesson I pass on to everybody.

Thanks, Chris! I'm amazed that I knew all of this, lol. I would like to add to your point of the parkhopper ticket. Definitely prioritize the single park tickets. You'll be doing a lot of walking in whichever park you start your day at. Most people get too tired to go over to the 2nd park of the day or you miss a lot of things just in the time spent walking to the other park. Dedicate an entire day to one park and maybe on the last day you can park hop to get another chance at things you might have missed in the previous days. For me, I prefer this schedule at a minimum, 2 days at DL, 1 day at DCA, and the 4th day you can get the parkhopper ticket while starting the day at DCA. Obviously you'll be rope dropping your first days and each park so you don't have to spend money on Lightning lane or genie plus.

Bring your stroller, have your children nap in the stroller and enjoy the ambiance. BRING YOUR FOOD! Bring a thermos of something hot. Bring your drinks, bring juice/drink concentrate and add it to your free water. The buffeteria restaurants will give you a free hot water, add to your hot cocoa packets, teas, to save 5 bucks a drink. Get a free ice cup and use it for your brought in soda. All of the chicken dinners(Plaza Inn, Rancho Del Zocalo, Tiana's Palace) are splitable, bring a salad to stretch your dinner the money you spend on a locker will save you a ton of money if you bring a lot of food. You can eat your brought in food at the counter service restaurants. Skip the kids meals don't get pizza at DL. You can use your Starbucks gift cards at the local Starbucks, which by the way has the most affordable breakfast sandwiches in the parks, but better to eat an enormous breakfast before you get there. Rope drop, rope drop, rope drop and stay till the very end, the lines are shorter early and late.

One new way to save money on parking or Uber I just tried because we stayed at Anaheim Marriott was using the Toy Story parking lot shuttle to gain entrance to the park. I would only recommend this if you’re staying at one of the nearby hotels on Convention Way and Harbor Blvd. Like the Hilton, Anaheim Marriott, Hyatt Place, etc. It would be a short 5 - 10 min walk from Harbor to the Security and Bus area of the Toy Story parking lot. Another bonus is that when you get to the park you won’t need to pass the security because you already did. 😊

We had a rule for the impulse buying that the kiddo could only get their souvenir on the last day. So they could look at everything, think about it, and then really decide what they wanted. This worked well, except one visit, they actually removed one of the toys -while- we were there. Completely removed from the park! So it can backfire (I ended up getting it for just under double the price off eBay... I felt bad).

Former SoCal resident here (also former annual pass holder) who's been living in the PNW for 15 years. I relied on your videos for our last trip during Xmas 2023 to get myself up to date with the state of the park (last time I went, Fast Pass was still a thing). As far as your food tips, I found the food extremely affordable and high quality compared to what I remember being an annual passholder *with* food discounts. When I consider small things like coffees or baked goods, to actual meals, they seemed affordable on the cost of the food. Then you add the fact that you're not tipping on the food , and eating at the park is actually cost effective compared to everything except fast food places outside the park. The xmas macaroons totally blew me away. On average, you pay $2-3 for a regular 11.5 inch macaroon. The Disney Xmas macaroons were 5-6 inches in diameter (basically a sandwich), thicker than a standard macaroon AND had fresh fruit in them, and were only $7-$8 each. That's a bargain- I bought several of them and celebrated the new year back home in Seattle with the mint ganache macaroon. I bought a 16 oz holiday coffee (which was amazing) for $6. These days I have a hard time buying a 12 oz for $6 (and that's without tip). The cajun spiced chicken at Tianas is one of the best values I've seen ANYWHERE, and was great quality. For me, the money saving hack when traveling to Disneyland is to EAT AT Disneyland.

I am disabled and we always stay across the street since I bring my own scooter to the parks. Park Vue, in my opinion, is a better stay than desert inn. Camelot was so so but we stayed there many years ago. Haven't stayed at any of the others there on Harbor. When we stayed further, we took the ART transit and I thought is was time consuming to board and unload from the bus. They have to lower the bus for you to drive in and then they have to strap you in. If you don't mind the time it takes for all that it might be worth it to save money on the hotel. As far as helping the disabled at the parks, I agree with @Erik_m509. The cast members are wonderful with transferring to and from ride. I don't need that service as I am ambulatory but I've seen them assist others who do need it. I recommend renting a scooter from an outside service as their pricing is much better for several days than renting a scooter from disneyland. They will drop off the the scooter at the hotel and pick it up when you leave. I believe some hotels already have scooters available to rent as well.

@MaxPowerVideos the walk from Candy Cane is negligible, in my opinion, so it is definitely worth the reduced price and throw in the free shuttle, and it's a non-issue. I will admit that good neighbor hotels dont give quite the same feeling as the Disney properties, If remaining in the Disney bubble is important to you, but oh, the cost for that is high. I have stayed at least one further away that also offered a shuttle, but they charged for it, and I don't recall the cost being any less than Candy Cane. For me, it's the combination amenities at Candy Cane that make it the best bargin in the area. I generally don't pay for Genie+ or park hopper but G+ would be a better investment IMO. I can easily make a day at DCA but if not combine the park with an evening of dining or shopping at Downtown and still no need to hop. Best of luck.

The Ultra Uber money saving hack is not to go to Disneyland but go to Disney on Ice or surrounding Walt Disney landmarks in Southern California for FREE and more educational.

Don't park hop. It's already too much to do in one park and it wastes time.

I'm learning I don't need to spend a thousand dollars to wait in line all day. I'm done being brainwashed by a REDD pirate who teaches kids Men just want rum.

Another note on the park hopper\California adventure in general. If you have small kids and are doing like 3-4 days at the parks, consider only spending one day in California Adventure. There are only a handful of rides that smaller kids can do compared to Disneyland. This is our rule of thumb at the moment. As our kids get older (taller) we will probably split our time more evenly\get park hoppers!

I'm sure to bring ziplock bags for all sorts of things, but especially for leftovers like a turkey leg. The security guard at the checkpoint asked me about them, and my response --Disney Pro move. I see so many visitors toss food in the trash cans at the entrance of the rides because they can't bring it on. Even a corndog or chimichanga, while best eaten hot, I place in my plastic bag for a snack later in the day. It keeps my day pack clean, too. Oh, and a cup that can be sealed instead of throwing out that expensive soda or other drinks in paper cups before getting on a ride. Personally, I think the turkey leg is one of the best values at the park. It's a great shared treat.

Plastic bag is a great suggestion! I usually bring a lidded plastic container, the kind you get in some restaurants for leftovers. Adding a plastic bag will let me keep “odd” shaped things.

Great idea but I am shocked you ever have leftover corn dog. Lol. Even if I’m too full…rare….husband will stuff the last bit down his hatch.

We just got back from DL. We found all the cute things we wanted at World of Disney store and then purchased them online at Shop Disney and they were 30-40% off with the friends family/holiday discounts, plus free shipping. Bonus, we didn’t have to pack it home, and we have new t shirts to wear on our next trip. The Christmas spirit jerseys are deeply discounted on the website and full price at DL.

Exactly what the commented above said, we live in California and sometimes just do one day at a time and spread out our vacations. So we'll park hop.

Some people only want E-tickets and nothing else, and neither park has enough E-tickets to last an entire day (by design, obviously - the guests are meant to experience a wide variety of attractions, not just the thrills). It's not my preferred way, but it is a perspective to view from. I know folks who think that way for sure.

We usually save money on eating thru kids menu. They give so much food for kid price. Usually 8.99 a full meal. Drink snack and meal included.

Good video Chris. We went in December 2022 and used many of your tips. Getaway Today was great to use. Definitely recommend bringing your own snacks and eat 1 nice meal in the park (we saved one of our fancy dinners for Blue Bayou). We also didn’t get park hoppers for all 3 days we were there.1 day at California Adventure was plenty. And if a family is driving to Anaheim like we did, it’s totally worth driving over to Walmart to buy Disneyland T shirts. They have tons of Disney stuff for half of what it costs in the park.

It’s a little extreme - but we found it was worth it to drop a day, and then buy all genie plus and lightning lane attraction passes. Make the most of the days you do have!
