I hauled a load of trees out of Florida into Georgia and the shipper included the total sales order with the BOL. Broker made 45% of the freight, facts!

Carriers, low debt and if possible equipment paid off, and stick to your rate that covers your cpm and brings you profit. These brokers are greedy and brutal and if you are forced to run on cost its just a matter of time before you're bankrupt or in deep debt. Not worth it. Ive been sitting a lot and just enjoying life while these brokers destroy each other and kill capacity. Good luck everyone.

Broker should get flat % rate on every load, should be law. It's another screw job on the truckers. Drivers take all the risk, and only get a small portion or halk of the total load pay. What a joke. More regulation on brokers is s must

Lmao what risk did you take when you put $5000 down for a used truck? Be real man, driving is just the easy part of it. There's a lot more that takes place to build profitable continuos relationships than just driving the truck. Anyone can get a CDL but procuring and maintaining relationships are a lot more tricky. Its constantly changing too

Every ft you drive down the road is a risk, if anything happens the driver is blamed, thus the driver takes all the risk. I was saying all the broker has to do is sit inside and talk on the phone. Do you think of there were NO brokers at all, all the sudden no freight would move? Yes building and maintaining relationships is work but it's not something drivers couldn't do. Oh man, what a risk the brokers have, to build relationships via phone calls, wow so much risk they take whew! Thank God for brokers, we drivers would just not survive without them. yes plz take huge chunk of the total load pay for your amazing risky work.....give me a break

@@NickJamesHarrier I was talking about financial risk because you seem to think that a broker is one guy in his basement wearing sweatpants who just picks up the phone and he magically has freight forever. It's not like that AT ALL. These large brokerages have huge expenses that you have no clue about. They have offices, tons of employees to pay, constant technology to implement, insurance, office expenses etc etc and they have all those expenses regardless if they are able to get any freight so when you scale to that size there's HUGE risk. If you think all they do is pick up a phone then I suggest you try it. You probably wouldn't have a clue who to approach or what to say. And if somehow you knew what to say you probably won't say it right and not make any progress with a customer who has certain expectations. Trust me they won't give you the time of day so there's a reason why there are brokers/3PLs. Direct customers have certain needs that only brokers can fulfill. Customers need all their freight covered so a broker will take any lane where a carrier can only cover the area they run to. Stop bi*ching about brokers and provide better service than everyone else in a regular lane so you'll have a broker that wants to use you on a regular basis at a good rate because your service speaks for itself. Don't be mad that a random broker who doesn't know you AT ALL offers you market rates. Why would you expect him to overpay you and do you a favor? Market dictates the rate, not any individual. Supply and demand determines market, don't get mad at a complete stranger who's doing exactly what you did when the market was in the carrier's favor in 2021-2022. You can't gouge complete strangers when you're able to and then cry and moan later that they're not being nice to you now when conditions have changed. You should have been ready for this correction anyways. Sick of hearing grown men cry and make excuses for their own decisions. You're a business owner (apparently) so deal with the decisions you made, nobody else And before you think I'm only saying this because I must be a broker, I'll stop you there. I'm 100% a carrier with 105 company owned trucks, I have direct customers as well as brokers when I need them. Nobody owes you sh*t so stop blaming others when it's business for everyone. Stop calling brokers and go get your own loads somehow but stop acting as if they shouldn't be paid for what they do. How much they make is completely up to them the same way it's completely up to you

They truly believe deal flow “magically” APPEARS..🤦🏽… Shoi is sickening bruh.. smdh. Despite being and established broker, we STILL fight with equipment owners daily!!… We tell them, if it was so easy then YOU DO IT!! Anywho, business is going great despite all the BS. 💯💯

@@garddog1108 a broker is selling a load to carriers. If carriers are taking a load at low price, is their problem, not a broker problem. It doesn't matter how much a broker keeps for himself out of a shipper pay per load, a broker will always sell a load to the lowest price possible. No one can regulate how much a broker can keep out of a load pay. The problem is at carriers. Any branch of workers is regulated , needs to follow classes and certification in order to get licensed. Trucking business doesn't require anything, any human being can complete a written test and a driving test and become a "professional " driver in an hour. So the industry can be flooded with unskilled drivers very quick. Regulations must control the number of drivers that can start interstate driving. This way, trucking business will maintain a specific freight moving price per mile, basically carriers will make the price. Regulators must not let anyone to qualify for a CDL testing but people hired and trained by trucking companies or truck driving schools and hired by a trucking company. After testing, any new driver should not be allowed to drive on interstates, but highways only and in an area of no more than 200 miles from their terminal. After 2 years, if no violations, a driver is allowed to drive for 2 years on interstates in his state only. After 4 years of continuous driving, no interruption in driving a truck in those 4 years, no violations in those past 4 years, a driver is allowed to drive on any interstate, in any US state. If in the next 2 years of driving on interstates a drivers gets a violation, he must step down to driving in his state only , for 2 years and if no violations, he can move up again. This way ,truck driving industry will not be flooded by drivers overnight, increasing the load demand overnight , lowering the freight prices, spoiling the industry with accidents , speeding violations or other violations, bringing in new restrictive regulations from authorities , and many other...after all these, leaving a destroyed truck driving industry , as it happens today.

@@garddog1108 because you insist on full transparency. A broker might bring a container from China to US. The broker must figure it out, transportation wise, not permits, fees, taxes and others, transportation only, prices and how to move that container from China to US. So...a truck is needed to load that container at shipper in China and move it to a port, or a DC and from there to a port. A broker must book an overseas transportation company in order to move that container to US. In US, a truck is needed to move the container out of the port to a warehouse. A truck is needed again to pick up the load and move it to a final destination or a DC, and from there it will be a final delivery. How come it helps you to know that a broker takes from a shipper 20k to move his container from China to a final delivery somewhere in US? Do you think that "the shipper" is the warehouse from where a carrier is picking up his load? The warehouse is just a 3PL storage company which a broker is using to move a load from overseas to US. If you are talking about straight hauling from an American poducer to an American buyer, that's different, but it's still selling a load. A producer wants to make all the money out of selling his products so it is obvious that it will look for the smallest shipping price. The broker who can move the load for the smallest price will be accepted by shipper to move his load. You cannot think that a broker sits in his office joking around with buddies with a fresh coffee in front of him and just throw a price to a shipper to move his freight and the shipper is just a stupid who doesn't know how much he can , wants or have to pay to move his products.

NO. We will never get along. Transparency will not do it. Brokers are simply no longer necessary. Before technology made it possible, brokers were on the ground and provided a service to truckers. Thar service is outdated and obsolete. Brokers only exist as a shipper convenience and they are no good for carriers.
