(Recorded Dec 2014) General surgery residents at Barnes-Jewish Hospital engage in friendly battle during the annual Top Gun laparoscopic skills competition at Washington University School of Medicine. The winner goes on to compete nationally at the annual meeting of SAGES -- The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. Residents are required to master a variety of skills, including laparoscopy, as part of the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Skills program, which must be completed before residents can apply for board certification through the American Board of Surgery.
