Great video! There is a few highlight channels for epee but it’s nice to find one with this format! And also from an active fencer with a fencers insight💪🏻

Lopez Pourtier vs Zhang: no touch + yellow card for turning (which is what the ref ended up giving). Zhang expected NLP to be a bit further past for his reposte, but NLP just bounced and didn't pass. Watching frame by frame it looks like the later hit is good, it may have bounced off the floor, but the moment the light goes on Zhang has his guard angled up and towards NLP.

@@GPFencing Have you ever fenced him, Sam? How do you approach fencers with that kind or reach and range? Love your channel!

@@fencer5411 I’ve never fenced him but lots of my friends have. Key vs taller fencers to me is to ignore the ignore the height and focus on your moment and you’ll be fine. Watch my bout vs Biro. For Jurka specifically I would focus hand and foot first to make him move his hand, if I can get that done then in theory finding an attack would be easier.

as good as Cannone is (and better than Mcdowald) I really think that their bout was more of a loss on Mcdowald's side than a win on Cannone's

With all due respect to the athletes, it is so tiresome to endure the overblown, self-congratulatory screams after a hit. As one elite epeeist (who does not scream) put it to me "Why should I scream? I'm just doing my job...do you scream whenever you send a successful email?"
