Really like the BMKT. I wouldn’t normally think about edc fixed blades for the kind of money as I don’t edc a fixed blade that often but lately I’ve been getting into it more and more and this checks all my boxes. Only problem is you can obviously see which one everyone loves. I think every version with either black wash blade and/or black micarta are sold out.

I will say the Italian designers make some beautiful designs, especially the Vox designs, If they would get their heat treats up to par I’d buy quite a few of them. That being said I definitely will be getting the Vox Chillin even though it’s not a fixie. For an EDC fixed blade I’d love to get the Elementum, the backpacker, or the 10V mini Harpoon.

My newest fixed blade is the Civivi Elementum fixed blade, and though it's a little bigger than these, I really love it. Love that Boker. I want to mod my Sea Snake with Mexican Blanket micarta. Or maybe the Atomic green fat carbon fiber. I hapoened upon Mike Elmer's video on Wharnies and said I love my CRKT SPEW but wanted something similar with better steel. Though, it's still razor sharp, anyway he mentioned his Sea Snake 🐍. I bought immediately. It's got a lot of sentimental value & will be my neck knife for life. I'm a Navy Brat & Mike's Navy Vet. I gotta support the Vets. I like the green G10 but really want custom scales & new kydex sheath. I am watching videos on making your own sheaths. I may do it all myself as an artist & engineer. Great bunch of knives! Especially the BMKT! Guardian goes without saying... love the Sheepsfoot Guardian.

I own close to 1 hundred knives, most of them fixed blades. The knife that I sue the most, is a fixed blade made by Manly, the Manly Patriot. It has the perfect sheath, the perfect size, the perfect design, for everyday use. I own Lionsteels, TRC Knives,KA-BARs/Beckers,, Morakniv, and a ton of Custom, and other popular factory made knives. I still go for that knife, no matter how many I've bought since that. As for folders, I prefer Victorinox like the Explorer, the Hunter, the Harvester(Swiss Army 7) than any other "Tacticool, or other style folder I've tried..

these are all very nice but my EDC knife is a hunting knife with an 6inch blade that i made myself, its a knife that suits my purposes for a knife: something i can chop up brush do grunt work and also do the fine work like skinning and processing game, leather sheath set up for a scout carry on the back of my belt, clipped point antler grip... a nice pigsticker tbh i wouldn't carry anything smaller i used to carry a 10inch blade bowie knife everyday

_The best knives don't fold._ My EDC: Spyderco Street Beat w Micarta handle. Comfy, stealthy, front-pocket carry.. Sheath pops off with a thumb press and stays in pocket when knife is drawn. You can't see that I'm gripping it with hand in my front pocket, blade is loose from sheath but still covered. by it. Belt clip needs to be removed from sheath; it's attached with machine screws.

@mattdagger1480
Жыл бұрын
I posted awhile back about my edc1 having a edge issue. I’ve since then sharpened it twice and I must have gotten a burnt edge or something. Now it holds an edge forever. Initially it would fold over in the middle of the sheepsfoot blade after the first couple of cuts for some reason. After the second sharpen I’m about a month of edc use and still hasn’t folded over. I even reached out and asked him what grits he used and how he recommended to sharpen it with my wicked edge and I’ve been following that. But after the second sharpen it’s not folded once on my at 18degrees worked up to a 1000diamond, 1200cermaic, 1600 ceramic then a 0.4 compound and strop and it’s good now. I’m assuming a burnt edge? Idk I’m still pretty new to this world but that’s the only thing I could figure. Still my favorite knife I’ve got. Every now and then I’ll toss in the 3v demo ad 20.5 just because I think 3v may be my favorite steel. Low key wish this edc1 was cmp3v a little haha! But I definitely love the edc1 and highly recommend it as well even as a newcomer
@j.t.553
Жыл бұрын
I have a 3v ad 20.5 and I rounded the tip on it with my grinder sharksfoot blade btw 😭 so I haven't gotten to use it at all.idk how to put a tip back on it. I also have an ad20.5 with aus10a and aftermarket scales feels amazing compared to the stock scales, their kinda uncomfortable. What's so good about the 3v would you say? I don't have enough experience with it.
@mattdagger1480
Жыл бұрын
@@j.t.553 I also have the ad20.5 in 3v and that’s mainly where my love for 3v comes from. It’s semi stainless so where I live I’ve yet to have any corrosion issues, it’s tougher than a lot of other steels, the edge in mine holds up pretty well. I only have to touch up the edge maybe once a month with a strop or a high grit stone. But the main reason I really like 3v and especially fora a fixed blade is the toughness and re sharpenability. I was shocked how easily it was to get back to a mirror polish. I don’t have a lot of variety with steel but I own 3v, cpm154, m390, s30v, and nitro v knifes. And the 3v is just miles faster to touch up on the wicked edge vs the rest of what I have. S30 is pretty close to as easy but not as tough. If 3v could last as long as my m390 on the edc1 I have it would be the best on my eyes haha.

I like my blades to have a protective nub or guard before the blade. When using a knife in extreme conditions, skinning game, cleaning fish, wet weather, blood, or especially in the cold, you want a nonslip grip and a way to keep your hand from slipping into the blade, especially your pointing finger and palm. Most of the knives here seem to miss that part. While 90% of users will use a knife for practical purposes, like opening boxes, to cutting or shaping, or just to have it for whatever may arise, I personally want something that can do everything. A piece of broken glass can become just as indispensable as a knife in a survival situation. Cost should be acceptable, value and material shouldn't be questionable, and should make for a well-rounded everything blade. From hand use, to attaching to wood as a spear, to self defense. That said, these knives look great, but not one would my choice for everyday carry. #1 is decent, but would not last me. I have some decent blades that I carry, few have lasted me more than 2 years in the field. Everyday hard use is the real test. Loved the video, great blades, very cool, just not applicable as far as being well rounded. #7 would be the closest, still missing some fine points though. Appreciate the video.

To be 100% honest I think the regular one is a way better deal because the Micarta is the cheap stuff and there isn’t a huge noticeable difference between the two but I am really surprised they didn’t do it as a regular production model like they usually do.
