The Tour Master 4 flow really does a good job of taking you comfortably through temps from 105-40 degrees F (40-4 deg C) with the three layers that can be fixed or combined. Pockets (similar style) in each liner is also a plus. Being able to mount the vapor/rain liner with the thermal layer zipped to it, or just the thermal layer or just the rain layer makes trip packing much easier. I move from low elevations to 3500 feet in just a few minutes of riding and this makes it versatile. The color coded various zippers, tabs and loops avoid putting it together wrong. High vis really makes my wife happy as my bike and bucket are black. Great jacket. I bought it from a gear junkie (retired cruiser) for $40 and I think he wore it twice. Well worth the $200 retail. I got lucky.

@@theripper121 I'm 6'2" but also quite thin (thinner than Ryan, as he claims a weight of around 185-190 and I'm at 165), but have broad shoulders. A large fits me perfectly in most things. I wear the Merlin Columbia jacket and fits about perfectly in large. In fact, with the Outlast layer in and if I wear anything under it apart from a T-Shirt, it's almost too snug. Since all I have to go off of is video, it seems like Ryan's shoulders aren't anywhere near as broad as mine, which may explain the fitment issues when it comes to a larger jacket.

My girlfriend is getting into motorcycle as a pillion with high hopes to get her motorcycle license one day. You should definitely get a video review covering women gear (with women models of course). As her and I went over tons of gear, reviews, shops and tries, we couldn't find something yet. There is generally less choice for women and less inventory. Her priority when looking into gear is 1) style (cut) 2) color, 3) price, 4) Everything else: functionality, protection, venting, pockets etc. which is completely the opposite of what I'm looking for when in the market. I have to remind her that she is after all buying a motorcycle jacket meant for motorcycling. We even ordered male jackets that we returned because she looked like a tiny football player and doesn't like it. Any chance we could get a couple videos covering women jackets-pants-boots (which in my opinion have the most differences when compared to male gear). I heard women are a growing market for motorcycles so it'll be good for you guys. A happy girlfriend = more riding time for me...in the end, I lied, it is a selfish request.

Your reviews are better than a company called Revzoid, or something like that. Shorter, more detailed and to the point, and less traditional non-pertinent content. I have a question: do you prefer jackets which do not include zip-out liners? Especially when it comes to waterproofing, I find the zip-out liner to be an afterthought method of water resistance or proofing. And after riding in a downpour for 10 minutes the outer material doesn't usually shed water that well and becomes bulky and water logged. Sure I might be dry under the hot, sweaty liner but I sure won't want to put that soggy shell jacket back on or spend time in shops or a restaurant after pounding through the rain. What are your thoughts on zip-in-out liners? I think I'd like to get away from them. They pile up in the back of my closet and aren't typically used. Who wants to stop and take their coat completely off, zip a liner into the shell including the clumsy velcro or snap fasteners in the sleeves, and put all of that back on again before continuing on into the rain storm? Thanks in advance.
@FortNine
8 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yeah, I pretty much agree with you on zip-out liners. Ideally, I like to have a breathable jacket with a removable windproof thermal liner. Then I buy a cheap rain shell to go over top, and I'm set for all conditions. Having said that, there *are* a few times when it's nice to have a waterproof liner *under* the jacket. Like in hot and rainy conditions, it's a lot cooler that way. You'll see mesh jackets with waterproof underliners for that reason. ~RyanF9

Hey Ryan, thanks for the review (and all your reviews). Just excellent! I'm interested in the Tourmaster, but concerned about sizing. I'm only 5'8" but I have a 45" chest and usually take a "large" in most things. But if the large is a good fit on you, I am thinking an XL might be better for me. Thing is, then I might end up with too much length... Advice? Also, there are several jackets on sale for up to 50% off, which brings them down to around the same price. With that in mind, what are your thoughts on the The Joe Rocket Ballistic 13.0 as compared to the Tourmaster in this video?
@FortNine
8 жыл бұрын
Hey! I think the Large would be right for you. I had the Saber 4 cinched in all the way for this video, but there's loads of room if you have the adjusters opened up. In fact, they recommend a 44-46" chest for the size Large, so you should be spot on. As for the Joe Rocket, you're right... it's a steal at the moment and definitely a better jacket at the current price. Cheers! ~RyanF9

Something like Forcefield's Pro line (fortnine.ca/en/forcefield-pro-shirt fortnine.ca/en/forcefield-pro-action-shorts). There are similar offerings from Alpinestars, Dainese, etc. Of course that will only work if the leathers aren't too tight on you? ~RyanF9
