I wore Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere in my late 20s, Viva la Juicy Gold Couture in my 30s, and now, at 42, I’m wearing Delina. I suppose my “fragrance journey” hasn’t been typical. One thing I can say, however, is that it’s true that as I get older, I know myself much better and I choose fragrances that make me feel like myself. That doesn’t mean that I’m necessarily wiser, that I’m more successful or even wealthier. But I do know myself and that is reflected in all of my choices, including fragrances. Love your channel! 🙂

I’m 43 and I have the same preference for sweet gourmands and aversion to white florals and green/aquatic scents as I did when I was a teenager. Depends on how in to fragrance someone is but I don’t necessarily think everyone has to go on a “journey” that wildly alters their preferences. I’ve never once smelled something and thought “oh that’s too old/young for me.” I like what I like based on the notes, which I don’t really see as having age limits. I wear fragrance more for my own mood than anything else so If someone thinks I smell “old” or too juvenile I consider that a ‘them’ problem, not a ‘me’ problem. 😂

I have worn Chanel Mademoiselle Coco and Chanel No 5 edp forever. I came across your channel one evening because your voice was so beautiful and calming. I initially was listening because of your voice but I have learned a lot about fragrances along the way. I have ordered a number of samples from your recommendations and I can’t wait to smell them and share my thoughts with you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your voice with us.

The other day I went to Sephora and smelled the new kayali fragrance and I thought this is so generic. Smells like a teenager. Then I smelled the Tom ford cafe rose and I loved it. I told my sister I must be getting old, lol. However I’ve always liked more intense versions of perfumes. I also love “eastern”smelling fragrances.

Over a decade ago when I first tested Coco Noir I wasn't a fan, neither was my husband. Fast forward to today and now it's in my top 3! Even my husband now loves it. Interestingly it seems both women and men's taste change with age as well 😉 N5 L'eau is next on my list!

Yes, we definitely change in our preferences. And as we sample new scents. I never would have guessed that I could love Delina & Iris Malikhân. Thanks for sharing.

I mostly only liked clean scents in my teens and 20s, anything close to nature, citruses, fresh flowers…then I started to fall for the sweeter fruity scents and strong gourmands in my late 20s and early 30s after moving to a cooler climate. Going into my mid 30s I went through a short phase where I was really into heady, old-school cozy orientals like Obsession, Youth Dew and Opium, I loved how they smelled in cold air, so warm and rich. And now in my late 30s, I am into clean, soft musky scents for daytime (Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc and Omnia Crystalline), for night-time I like boozy-sweet scents (Initio Narcotic Delight) or a refined feminine oud (Folklory Ward)…and I like clean, ‘generic’, semi-gourmand fruity-florals for casual wear (Coach Dreams and Dreams Sunset, or even Viva La Juicy Gold Couture…they make me happy).

I love your videos but I honestly believe parfums journey has NO age. If I wanna wear Chanel 5 with sweat pants or Britney Spears fantasy - there is no age limit or whatever - just find what makes you feel great and express yourself.

True. I also could not afford perfumes I liked when I was younger so now I buy what I always wanted. I wanted Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy and Pink Sugar and wear them regularly. I am growing to like musky perfumes though.

I see that Sketch is compared not only to Shalimar, but also to Lubin Akkad and Close to Midnight from Musicology, which are two of my favorite fragrances! I’ll definitely give it a sniff! And I do recommend Akkad, it’s such an underrated gem!

I will be 52 next week and the first perfume I bought with my own money at 17 was Chanel no 19 followed the year after by Guerlain Mitsouko. Of course it was before the gourmand era, but still I believe you can’t go wrong with something that stood the test of time. Also love Samsara, my math teacher perfume 😊

I want to sample the pistacio one for sure. I am a bit older than you and in my twenties I would have never gravitated towards a strong fragrance such as YSL Libre Intense. Yet now I feel I can pull it off well. Still trying to "grow up" lol! The journey keeps going! xx

34, the best is yet to come. For me at least. 30 is not old!!! I never liked candy like fragrances. After hearing your husbands response to Her Burberry, I realized I've always like more sophisticated but fresh, youthful. I thought Burberry felt too young for me. Im 45. Are Celine perfumes too old for you?

I really like Celine perfumes but because they are super hard to get hold of here in the UK unless you live in London, I never got round to purchasing them.

How do you think they make money. You think someone will just post to post lol majority of the time it’s gifted and they review it. So they continue getting things for free…
