The meat of this episode is an analysis of what it's like to live in Budapest as a digital nomad or expat or perhaps even student for more than a tourist stay. We stayed here one and half months this time, and I have stayed up to three months at time in the past and been here probably 15 times over the last decade.
First, you get a tour of the fancy two-bedroom flat we got for a month for around $1500 USD in a central area (two stops from Oktogon on the way to Hero's Square).
Second, a quick review of a typical restaurant that's not too touristy, it's called Ghetto Gulyas. Get a sense of prices and quality for mid-range meals for two (we paid $38 including wine).
The third section takes places at Fisherman's Bastion, one of the most beautiful spots in all of Europe, and thankfully, unlike much of the rest of Budapest, NOT currently under construction. From this vantage point I explain my experiences here living longer than a typical tourist, including the sincere pros and cons. Check it out!
