Your videos are the absolute BEST. I watch them over and over and the way you break things down and explain how and why it works makes so much sense. My serve has improved immensely. THANK YOU!

One my favorite FeelTennis videos ever - I never felt comfortable w the trigger finger and I guess it’s because I didn’t understand the role. “Feel the finger under the racquet” w that exaggeration w the straight index finger makes this click instantly - thanks Tomaz for this ! Will be sharing w all my tennis buddies

I've been struggling with hitting topspin serves for a while now, I'll go to a court and hit serves for a long time, but I could never wrap my head around how to really get the topspin (also had wrist overuse strain multiple times too). Excited to try this out.

Try to hit the ball into the sky. Don't rotate forward. Its like a flat serve at the sky, but it will dip in the court. Have faith.

I watched the video and had my doubts. I made the change to the grip and focused on using the base knuckle to accelerate the racket head. With this grip change, I got more speed on the topspin serve and the “sound” of the strings brushing the ball. You know what “sound” I’m talking about. I encourage everyone to spread the index finger on the serving grip. Try it! It really works!!!

Venus Williams said the same thing on her serve videos. She said its easier to pronate and increase racket head speed when the index finger is spread out a little. Its subtle but she does mention it. I like that you are teaching this too.
@feeltennis

Yes, most coaches teach spreading of the fingers but it can take long time for the player to feel WHY that's important. This trick can help you feel "the why" usually in a matter of minutes.

Excellent tip. Does the concept also apply to the forehand groundstroke? Does the separated index finger act as a trigger for increasing racquet head speed and topspin when hitting a forehand?

Hi Tomaz, thank you for your work I have been following this channel for a while now and I loved every minute of your content. A couple of days ago I was trying this tennis simulator for virtual reality devices, and my right hand controller (I am right-handed) ran out of power. I didn't want to wait so I went into the settings menu and set "left" as my dominant hand so I could keep playing. I felt kind of strange at the beginning, as if I had to learn the movement from zero again but with pretty good theoretical knowledge, I was surprised by the feeling of my left arm executing a shot and at the end I felt that it was a very productive session since I had so many new sensations that felt good but I still can't explain why it felt like that. Do you think learning how to hit some easy balls with the non dominant arm can have benefits? or was it just a tennis illusion?
@feeltennis
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's beneficial in junior training as it stimulates the opposite side of the brain and also makes them more aware of the movements, then they can transfer these details back to the dominant side. So long term in juniors we even have them serve here and there with the non-dominant arm... I don't know how adults would respond to such stimulus, likely it would take lots of repetition for some significant effect.

so the knuckle of the index finger is on bevel 2, and when you exaggerate with a straight finger to get a feel, the whole finger is on bevel 1?

@@athenacajas8230 when I served, the racquet slipped in between my index and middle finger. That caused some tear and swelling in the back of my hand.
