It was nice to watch all this happen this past year in the knife world. I’ve never paid so much attention in prior years and I got to meet a lot of really really nice people through leaving comments . Good people that were there with answers and good recommendations. Sure I got to hear some shit stories but there was more good than bad, a lot more good.

Great list overall, including the honorable mentions. Glad to see I’m not the only one who really appreciates the Invictus, it’s my go to for inclement weather but it’s nice enough to not be solely relegated to that role. Unfortunately I missed the Factor but I was fortunate to get in on the Mirage preorder. I’ve also got the Divo Buzz and Null Voodoo on preorder so this coming year promises to be a good year, knife wise at least. Glad you’re starting to get settled in after the move (20 years in the army made me loathe moving).

At 42:48 “The fact that the Divo Stout is so inexpensive that (knowing it would get a lot of hard use in moving) it would be easier for me to replace than something three, four, five times as expensive.” Looking it up Blade HQ lists this knife at $299. Yup, great inexpensive toss-away knife if it gets messed up cutting boxes! 🤣

I really want to like the terrain 365 but it just does nothing for me aesthetically. I didn’t really like the Nymble personally, but I can see why it made the list. 2 that I really loved this year were the Matthew Christensen/Reate Maverick S and I also just got the VBR MKIII that i preordered a while back. The addition of the thumb studs really adds a lot for me. In 2023 I’m looking forward to the Null knives Voodoo, the Divo Buzz and the Tactile Maverick. -Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Gotta say that I got one of those Vero pry bars and used it for relatively heavy tasks a few times in the next few months. The first time was just a few days after purchase when I was getting the ice out of the freezer of my mini fridge and without that I certainly would have used a knife. I was taken aback by how useful it has been to be honest.

Your overview shows me one thing at least, which is that all these knives are metals or, in one or two cases, composites. No Micarta! I might sometimes prefer Micarta to use,but for the collection, I prefer metals, which don’t show wear from handling. I don’t really like the dirty look of well-used Micarta!
@JimSkeltonKnives
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’m a micarta hater. Same reasons as you plus I don’t like the feel of it. The exception would be polished linen micarta. It feels more smooth like g10 or carbon fiber at the same degree of finish.

I only have a handful of customs and all were pretty reasonable. I have quite a few that were way more expensive knives that aren't customs like the 2 CKF Evo 3.0s I got in recently. I have the Brown FSD not sure what that is considered a semi custom I guess and I have one of those Avian Knives pre ordered so don't have it yet. I did just have another custom come though from Boos Blades. Man is it nice and I think it cost me right around $600. I would have to go back and look because I had to do a down payment months ago and just paid the balance when he finally got it built for me. I got another one recently from USA Made Blade I can't even think of who the maker is but I thought it was cool and it was only I think $450 for a ti framelock s35vn full custom made from a maker north of me up in NC. I got another custom from Knifecenter right after blade show for $365 and shortly after I bought it I saw more of the same exact model they must have just got at blade for $700. Assuming the one I got they probably had since blade last year and just were trying to move it because it was on sale. Having a hard time thinking of who the maker is there too but its polished Nitro V titanium liner lock with silver twill CF kinda looks like a Terzuola and I think the maker was from Iowa. Edit I just thought of the one designer of the one. Wilmont Knives. I knew he made grinders was having a hard time thinking the name.

Ughhh I need to get me a terrain 365 knife. I am that guy that does a lot of hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping so it would be very very useful to have a blade that doesn’t rust. I was looking at some of their blades and I really like their clip point folder so hopefully I’ll come across one while I have funds this coming year. As of now I’ve been carrying my Chaves Liberation and it’s been a good knife to me. It’s a little thick behind the edge but still performs great. I actually gutted my buck with it back in November and it did surprisingly great. I will say it sucks a little right now as I live in Pennsylvania and it’s winter so it’s cold as hell and snowy right now and full titanium knives can be pretty damn cold on the hands without gloves in winter lol
