Mud football used to be a tradition in Topsham. Originally played at the end of the Strand by the Goat Walk, it was moved to Underway for the BBC Blue Peter programme presented by Chris Wenner. It is fun to see how Topsham has changed in thirty three years. Look out for the London and South Western Inn and the Steam Packet (now gone) and even the Tuborg lager boat alongside the quay. Once a common sight it delivered lager form Denmark. Look out also for a very young Mark and Katie Trout, the Van Oppens, Roscoe Clayton, and umpire Graham Ward. The Mud Football is featured in my book 'Blue Peter: Behind The Badge' Chapter 5. Now available as an eBook on Amazon Kindle.
