I owe the same 770, I love it. I make my own parts that I sell. But for me it’s a love of machining that drew me to buying mine. I justified my purchase as a hobby, let me explain....... some people like to golf, shoot, boat, ski, skydive, fly...... on and on...... me, I like to tinker in my garage so to me ....it was a up front expense of a 5 years of(name your hobby) But the best part of my hobby is, that I can make money on it...... how many other hobbies will give you that luxury with out having to gamble every single time. (ITS A WIN WIN FOR ME)

Thank you for the word of wisdom Jody. I am going down that rabbit hole of starting my own little shop at home.

I will file a complaint against this Tormach company through all the channels I use. This is because I have not sent the product for more than 3 months without any reason for my order and there is no response to the refund request. I hope that companies like this don't do that.

That is a shame. I know they have been dealing with delays receiving items but they have always been responsive to communicating what is going on with an order. Have you tried calling them?

Great video and thanks for the thoughts on upgrades. I have a Series 3 1100 that I bought new in 2011 and am getting chatter more and more frequently. If I machine around the OD of a piece of round stock I notice chatter about 4 o'clock and then again the 10 o'clock positions, even on light depth of cuts. Have you had this problem? I believe my gibs may need to be adjusted although I haven't tried it yet.

No I have not had that problem. It could be looseness in your Gibs, I would start there. Also, check for backlash and lost motion. These can be adjusted with Admin tools in pathpilot.

They just really need to ditch ways and gibs and go to linear rails then there machines would be very viable

I dont think you would see any real benefit from linear rails on a machine this size. You actually loose rigidity with rails. The main reason they are use is for high speed applications and they are cheap Precision. I'm already getting 300 ipm. While gibs must be adjusted it isn't that difficult and the adjustability means you get more life out of a machine. Once a linear rail is worn it must be replaced. All that said I think the MX series should have had rails.

obviously, your NOT doing precision work as +/- .001 as tormach boost their machine will do, which they WILL NOT HOLD!
@jodyolivent8481

Most of what I make typically make has a tolerance of +/- .005 There have been a few tight tolerance parts but you have to get creative and if you can design the part with the machines limitations in mind you will be well ahead in the game. Ultimately if you are needing to hold that tight of tolerance or doing large quantity production work, one would be better suited purchasing an industrial grade machine instead of a Tormach.
