I've had mine for three years now. My lawn is not that big but I am partially disabled and can't push a mower anymore. This machine with it's Personal Pace drive is perfect for me. Very maneuverable and gives a beautiful cut. I hand scrape under the deck after every use and sharpen the blades about 3-4 times per season or as indicated. Clean under the belt cover about every 5 or 6 uses as grass builds up under there. Great mower!

Best video yet on the 30" Timemaster. Thanks for being efficient and so thorough at the same time. Nice to see you uncover the belt area. It seems it is something a handy person can take a look at to avoid expensive service in the future. This mower seems to be the perfect candidate to go bigger from a 21" mower, especially for a flat and mostly open yard which I have.

I have an older unit with a 189cc Briggs... I love it! It has no problem with long grass as long as you bag it.. otherwise it clogs up and leaves clumps... If you cut it every week.. it is great at mulching... After 1.5wks bag it... I bet going to the 223cc motor helps... Over all though, great mower and it is very maneuverable in my yard. Bagging it. 21" two and half hours... 30" about fourty five minutes... If you ask me.. Well worth it!!

I suggested that they put that 223cc engine on this mower back in 2012 when i bought mine and Toro told me there was no need for that! These mowers are good if you have some wide open areas to mow. If your yard requires lots of turns due to obstacles the extra weight of this mower makes it a bit more cumbersome to maneuver than a typical 21". That weight will also cause ruts in your yard if you don't change your mowing path. The perimeter cut will almost always be rutted eventually. The hose clean out port makes a frickin' mess. If you do it on concrete you will have grass stains if you don't hose it off right away. If you do it on your lawn you will have a gloppy mess that will kill the grass unless you remove it. Mulching wet spring grass is always the toughest thing to do. The deck will get fully clogged. The only way around this that I know is to mow very often and possibly side discharge if necessary. Then go back and re-mow the clippings once they dry a bit if they are plentiful. I'm 5'11" tall and I wish there was a handle height exactly in between the lower and upper available height settings. Since I've owed it I have replaced blades to high-lift and gotten a much better cut (mulching too). I also bumped the rpm up about 200-300 rpm. I removed all the blue plastic pieces on the handle (useless for me) and also removed the lever for engaging the bail handle. I've only had to replace belts once and just replaced the spring that returns the personal pace lever back to 'neutral'. I'm a test engineer so I always find things that can be improved but all in all I like this mower.

I flat don't agree. ... I just bought one with the 8.75 hp engine and I noticed the first time using it how it was under powered. It sucks on hills, if grass is a little too long it struggles to cut and often under those circumstances it doesn't always cut nicely. Don't even think of trying to cut the grass if it's wet at all again it doesn't cut nicely. And tall Dandelions somehow escape the blades..weird. I should have bought the 10hp machine.

A customer called me last year and they had this TimeMaster. I've never seen one before then. He has snapped off a bolt for the deck tensioner. He also shredded the belt which runs over $80.00. I used it after the repair and my front yard looked awesome. A year later which was yesterday he called me up stating this his engine is very loose. One bolt had come out of the frame securing the engine and the other one that kept the belt on the pulley was also very loose and crooked. I had to remove the whole engine to make sure the threads weren't damaged. The repair wasn't an easy one with barley any access to the engine. Between laying the engine on its side after removing the fuel tank and draining the oil and extending the wheel height up to the full mark finally got the job done. Other than that...motor starts up with ease and the self paced action is a good thing.

I just picked up one of these 30"timemasters from an older man, for 50 dollars, he didn't want it cause the battery on the keystart died and he isn't able to pull start it, and wanted it out of his sight, he has a land scaper who mows his grass so the time master was used like 4 times, it's dusty but in pristine condition, not a scratch on it, the blades still have the paint on it, and the tires still have nubs, and came with all the assories, I really lucked out on it..... Please note two things... First work hard on perfecting your straight lines. The practice will produce really nice stripes just a stock version, no roller needed. Secondly if you notice when the fella empties the bag of grass, HE DID IT WRONG... Take blue dog ear behind the engine and move the handle straight up-then take ahold of bag and empty... Bring handle down to desired height and continue mowing. The feature mentioned here and how to exercise oneself is that which sets this mower apart from other walk-behind mowers among other features. HAPPY MOWING and STRIPING. Really nice machine. A large yard is no prerequisite for owning this machine either. Do you want one of the best walk-behinds for cutting and striping??? GET ONE!!!

Can not believe these mowers come without an air filter pre-cleaner. The pleated paper filter is B&S P/N 795066. If you add a foam pre-cleaner element, get a B&S P&N 796254. The paper filter and the foam element are also available together in a kit under B&S P/N 5419. Bulk quantities of 5 each are offered for both the paper and foam elements.Their B&S part numbers are 4240 and 4261 respectively. The addition of a foam pre-cleaner extends the useful life of the paper element significantly and anyone mowing in the vicinity of shedding cottonwood trees knows exactly what I mean. These filters must always be replaced in accordance with the mowers service schedule and do not oil the foam in this application.

@PaoloFrancesco99
2 жыл бұрын
I'm back. I've had my Timemaster for about three years and it's been giving me trouble for a couple of them. First issue is a surging engine at idle after it's warmed up. This year it stalls after about 15 minutes. The filter is empty when this happens. I replaced it last year.I don't think it's a clogged fuel line because gas runs through the filter no problem when disconnected. I opened up a hole in the gas gap to make sure it's breathing. Would love to hear your ideas why it's stalling and why it's surging. Although many people have posted about these problems, somehow there are no clear answers on the forums. I just ordered the springs for the carb, and these may help the surging issue but the stalling/vapor in the filter baffles me.

It will bog in thicker wet grass while mulching. The blade design will pack the wet grass in the deck and stop it from letting the grass fall. Eventually there is too much grass being moved around in the deck and it bogs.

One question, is the cut width really that much wider than a standard 21 inch mower considering that the tire width on both a 30in and 21 in almost seems to line up the same if they’re face to face? So when you start a new lap on the side of the tire marks of another lap it might a bit more but now really a 9 inch wider cut difference considering?.... I notice the deck on the 30 sticks out wider than the tires so thats why I ask. Hope I explained my question ok! :) Thank you.

That is so you can hold the personal pace sysen back on the normal handle and it becomes a normal push mower.

@@WorkshopAddict Sorry for the late comment, but does that also mean that you can disengage the self propel feature and just make it a simple push mower? Thanks

@@petrinilevi7811 Yes, it will work as a normal push no issue

@@petrinilevi7811 It is a very heavy machine and unless you are in very good health, you wouldn't want to push it very far. Also, the self propel system takes some getting used to. My sister-in-laws machine goes from zero to full speed ahead in the blink of an eye. Top speed is 4.1 mph on her model.....I can't even walk that fast, never mind controlling a mower at that speed!! Best wishes. : )

Will this work on hills?
@WorkshopAddict

Our lawn has some fairly steep grades and it has no issues. I guess it would depend on the soil and if there is traction for the tires. Sandy hills would probably shut this down due to the weight.

@@Pinozcyclezandridez If you are cutting wet grass, or have cut wet grass at some point, it will build up in the deck and not handle cutting tall grass. I have to assume they needed to put the water clean out port on this machine and it was not just an addition. Clean your deck and you should not have issues.

Amazingly, it sold last year for 30K. I would have never thought that was possible. It was a 7,000 original mile car.

Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower kzitem.infoUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.
