Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. Great video. When I was a kid, I mowed an elderly lady’s yard and she gave me her push mower. It was a Hahn mower with a key electric starter. At 10 years old I thought I was hot stuff with that mower

I'm still mowing my lawn with the cast aluminum self propelled Toro I bought new in 1996. The belt was on top of the deck back then and I've never had this problem. I hope it outlasts me because nothing on the market today comes close to the quality of that machine.

You may enjoy this! I bought a Lawn Boy Utility mower in 1981 right after I bought my home. I was strapped for cash and it was a cheap 2 cycle machine. I planned on getting a better mower but never needed to. It has worked for me every Saturday since and I've put in a new carb needle and seat about 20 years ago and replaced two wheels. I just kept the bottom of the deck clean and I probably have changed the spark plug (maybe??) three times in the past 43 seasons. I'm 68 now. I asked my wife to bury it with me when the time comes. I love that mower.

Nothing to do with this post. However, I wanted to thank you for your insight, on the Briggs & Stratton engine not starting, because of the choke being open, and stuck. Mine was not set up exactly like the one you showed, but it was stuck like you said. Thanks again!

👍 cleaning with blow pipe at the end of the season helps with some belt dressing spray. I have got 4 years out of my 1st belt. And, my 2nd belt is going strong yet...

Nice! A scrapper buddy of mine who does garage clean-outs just gave me a Toro front wheel drive mower from 2010 that looks like it was never used. I checked underneath and the drive belt was jammed between the bottom of the engine and the pulley. It must’ve happened when the mower was new and the owner never got it fixed, it just sat in his garage for 14 years until last week. I replaced the belt, rebuilt the carb and it’s like having a new mower right out of the box!

Mine is exactly like that and mine started squealing when I pull the cord. I tore down to get the top off I wanted to check the key. i when to loosen the nut it was loose already on the flywheel I tighten nut up put it back to together and it started it's a good mower. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO

Good video. I just made this exact repair. In my case the belt was shot and I had to replace it. I have to admit I’m not a big fan of the self-propelled setup on these mowers. I find it a bit awkward especially when manually starting these.

I learned a lesson replacing drive belt on a troybilt. Be sure to engage the belt when replacing the belt cover. I messed up and had guide pin inside the belt, not outside.

I once had the drive belt come off the engine pulley on my Recycler. It still worked... kinda. It wasn't obvious. It just seemed like it wasn't providing the right amount of assist. I didn't find it until my off-season servicing.

Had a front drive recycler that was squealing. The belt came loose and was jammed between the pulley and bracket. I replaced the belt and it ran fine.

a good video there Donny mate and who,d have thought of something so simple could be a squeaky problem but yeah not too often you come into problems like what you found and yep over here in Australia or the Land Down Under 🐨🐑🦘🌴🌳🇦🇺 we have our versions of SP (Self Propelled) and even our legendary Victa.s with the P/T (Power Torque) engines have common problems too but yeah luckily very preventable with a good bit of cleaning and of course general inspection in between jobs and if it,s a easy fix that,s good and if not we often take ours into a repair shop if it,s needed to be done by a mower shop professional for sure and normally it,s a genuine Victa Cutting Disc in the center with two (2) blades on there and well a few O-rings on there from the Starter top cover the the Inlet Manifold and the Carburetor aka carby which is the G4 type on those engines and the air filter compartments are located at the top through a Snorkel tube assembly which i kind of like as it protects the motor from dust and a healthier engine life too etc and cheers to your area in Canada 🍁🇨🇦 and i hope your keeping cool in your Summer Weather over there too.

Some people are so lazy. Seriously, the owner could have taken 5 minutes. To look over the machine. Before taking it to the shop for repair.
