Thanks for this info, It would be great to see a follow up review after the summer months

We actually did this review this past Fall after traveling thru summer with it. It was a great addition. This year we've added a soft start to it so that we can better use it with solar and lithium boondocking. We'll do that review after this coming summer. Thanks for your continued interest.

I have the same unit but branded as Eco-Cool by Gree. It can with a soft start already and it uses about 1100W max. There is also an app and the AC connects to wifi. This way, I can have my dogs in the RV, and if I get a temperature alarm, I can start the AC from anywhere with internet access. I also use a Shelly to close the MaxxAir fan. I can run it for about 12 hours on my battery. It is also amazingly quiet. It is far more quiet than the ducted fan that comes from my model of RV (Winnebago Ekko).

Mine is louder than our basement AC. It cools down our living area really well and helps keep the rig cool in the summer heat. Thanks for watching!

This unit (Tosot) and the Gree appear to be identical. The reason for that, Tosot is manufactured by Gree. There seems to be a discrepency on the opertating range for the heat pump. Tosot makes it very clear the heat pump operates down to +23 F. The Gree on the other hand does not provide this spec anywhere. I think I saw somewhere the Gree operates down to +2 C which is +35.6 F.

Me and Jim watched this today. Wow! Great job! Very interesting. Also, clever editing and use of music to cut out any bad words. What? Jamie wouldn’t do that? Jim sure would and throw screwdrivers too! 😂 Can’t wait to see you guys in January!

Thanks, you can’t take the carpenter out of the man. Bad words make up at least a third of my vocabulary. I learned not to throw screwdrivers. They have a tendency to stick into things. Looking forward to the Q and seeing you in January. Thanks for watching!

id the gasket the only thing thats used to seal this unit to the rooof? Hey how do you install a soft start in this unit? i just installed hte Ac but it overloads my generator...
@RoamingWithRosie
19 күн бұрын
Yes the gasket is what seals the unit. If buy a soft start you can contact customer service and send them your ac units information and they’ll send you a wiring diagram.

As far as I can tell that is a Gree Air Conditioner. Maybe Tosot has them private label it for them?

Don't know. Several are similar. Tosot is a long time a/c manufacturer in China. RV products are a new line to them.

Based on your install and having the unit first hand, do you think it could be installed in a 14"x14" vent hole or is that extra 1/4" in both directions crucial? Or is that just for some wiggle room?
@RoamingWithRosie

There was some wiggle room. I think the vent hole and holes for Fantastic Fans are pretty much the same size. Thanks for watching!

Anyway you could take an existing Coleman to upgrade to this?
@RoamingWithRosie
10 ай бұрын
You should be able to. As long as you have the electrical to the Coleman, a 20 amp breaker that’s dedicated for the ac unit and the opening where the Coleman is measurements are 141/4 X 141/4. Hope this helps.

Is there ANY metal in the base pan or is this unit ALL plastic?
@RoamingWithRosie
3 ай бұрын
There’s metal on the AC unit where it sits on the roof and a metal mounting bracket the goes on the inside. The cover with the control panel is plastic. I show the inside mounting bracket and the cover in the video.

Do you know, or can you measure the decibel reading of the unit on high blower? (The one downside of a rooftop AC unit is the noise it produces. I replaced a brand new Dometic Penguin II unit on mine because it was soooo loud.) Is there only a single fan for the condenser and the evaporator blowers? Is the unit a heat pump or just an AC unit? Does it have a "Fan Only" mode or a "DEHUMIDIFY" mode?
@RoamingWithRosie
10 ай бұрын
Hi Jim, The db is 43, it has a heat pump so it heats as well as cools. It has a fan mode I’m not sure about dehumidifier. There’s a link in the video for the unit. Amazon has all the information about the unit on there site. There is also more information on the website Tosot direct.com
@JimHarvey-bi9yo

@@RoamingWithRosie Wow! Just checked out the specs on this unit. Dual fan. WiFi capable. Quiet. 12,000 BTU HEAT PUMP good down to 23°F, it does have a "Dry" (dehumidifier) mode. About the same price as the Dometic Brisk II (which is NOT a heat pump and a lower BTU AC). And it is a pretty low profile being just over 12" tall reducing the chance of the housing being damaged by low hanging branches at campgrounds. It's a WIN-WIN! Highly recommend more folks check this unit out. (especially if you own an ALFA)
