Hey, you made an investment in that grill. Not everyone has the innate ability to just "know" how to use one. Just don't give up and you'll be surprised on what you can cook on it. Basically, anything that you could cook in a cast iron pan, you can most definitely do on the grill. Even things you'd not think you could. Just keep at it and you'll do fine :)

I’ve always been curious what the difference is between seasoning it ahead of time or allowing it to become seasoned like you described with use. Why then do people “season” it before using, if it can just naturally happen ? Is there a valid reason, that people season ? 🤭 lol
@toryannasJMW
Жыл бұрын
@@cassidylopez671seasoning before using a blacktop, cast iron or grill will help but true seasoning comes with time and use. Typically when you season a new item you heat it up to about 500 degrees and allow oil to permeate the surface. Most people prefer to use lard or animal fat. Hope that helps.

Doesn’t mean everyone has to run to your rescue. You have to make mistakes to learn. Next time she will remember. Next time she will do better. Tip: when making a smash burger the goal is to get it crispy so that it tastes better. This is because when you smash the patties, a lot of the moisture gets removed from the burger. So when a smash burger is plump, it makes it taste dry and a bit boring to eat. THIS IS JUST A TIP I AM NOT TRYING TO SPREAD HATE

@@princesakat2098 yes, to not be specific, in my province there is no actual certification needed. It helps you get a job in salons but if you can just show a portfolio of how you work and do a test run to show them how fast you can work it’s typically easy to get hired if you practice enough on your own. If you want to have your own suite or salon the only thing you need is a business license.

@@erintucker12 I want to work as a nail tech temporarily while I am completing my bachelors so that I have some thing that is flexible and will make enough money for my life expenses along with grants and scholarships. i’m trying to avoid getting a certification because it’s upwards of 4K to 5K for literally a week and a half, if you’re lucky, of nail education. However it is not a forever career choice that I would like to make, for right now at least. I just love doing nails and I’ve been doing them as a hobby since 2018 so I thought it would be fun plus it meets all of the qualities I am looking for in a student job

I’m about to get a black stone too. Also I’ve seen your other videos and you’ve gotten so much better. I’m 38 but starting working at a restaurant using a flattop at the age of 12. Best thing, lots of butter, breakfast food works the best, meat, and buttered bread. Yet I’m sure you know that. Also you can make pasta on it. Pre cook it then dump it on with butter and the cheese/toppings and mix together. Again you probably know that since you’ve gotten better. Never give up lady. 🙂

Point being after all that I’ve learned kindness is what we need to move forward. I don’t think most will, yet the few of us can try. Got to get that griddle HOT. Wide open. You want it smoking. Use flax seed oil. Pour a bit of oil on the griddle, dip a paper towel in the oil, use tongs to apply oil. It'll smoke and stink...flax seed will give almost a fish oil smell. Cover everything. The top, sides, front, back, outside of cook top. Let burn for at least 10 minutes. Repeat at least four times. I did 10 times. Process was an hour and a half. After seasoned, cook a whole pound of bacon. It'll give a black, glass like sheen. To resurface, use a scraper, sandpaper and a pressure washer. Get it all off, wash with soap and water, then DRY IMMEDIATELY....then season. Simple clean with a scrapper and water, with heat on high. Always clean after each cook. Turn heat off....coat with oil every time.

I always use corn oil. I can’t stand that flax seed smell. It just bakes into my clothing and follows me until I wash it all out. The smoke point of corn oil is also way higher which, in my experience, makes seasoning your surface a bit more forgiving, it just takes longer. I’m also vegan, so I don’t use meat/animal fat to finish my seasoning. Usually a generous amount of chopped onions, peppers, zucchini, and some tofu with a splash of sesame oil will do the trick. Plus you get a pretty solid basic stir fry once you’re done. A high firmness tofu is also just a really good tool which I used when I was first trying to figure out how to season my flattop. Especially if it’s been pressed, if your surface isn’t properly seasoned, it will stick and crumble as soon as it hits heat. A little water and a scraper will take off any residue if you need to.
@UnforgivenTrucker

Corn oil does have a higher smoke point; true. However flax seed produces a much harder polymerization. You want that glass like hard surface. A higher smoke point oil will be more soft. As for the rest, you lost me at "I'm also vegan." But, you do you. Happy cooking.
