Probably a stupid idea, but if you show the irrigation externally, could you use a half ear model (the kind that shows the internal structures of the ear) to show where you put the instrument and what you would do. Don't know if it's possible, but the idea popped into my head (like stupid ideas tend to do)

It's probably just that your skin everywhere tends to produce less oil once you've reached menopause. If that's the issue, you could try using some medical grade olive oil regularly (maybe once a month) to supplement it - basically as a moisturiser for your ear canal.

Here's an idea for an occasional video format. I know y'all have some patients that have to come in regularly, so if you have someone that previously came in before y'all were doing irrigation, and now you're able to do irrigation on them, put the old and new videos together to show the comparison.

I have something called "grammar pedantry syndrome," which makes me ultra sensitive to people using incorrect grammar. So much so, that I constantly correct people in my head. I do this when you say, "...the lovely Taylor Green and myself'". It's correct to say, "Taylor and me," as it is to say "contact me" instead of "contact myself". Sorry for the grammar rant. Just saying.

There was no possible way that the first guy was able to hear anything! His ears were full to the brim. Wow I bet he hears like a kid again. When it comes to the irrigation, is there a limit of how many a person should have done in their lifetime? Since you said it does wash out some of the ears natural defense. Would over a period of time it wash it all away or does it rebuild as you age? I am looking forward to the video on the irrigation.

When dead skin and oils in the ear are exposed to oxygen in the air, they slowly change colour and darken as they oxidise. Earwax starts out almost white, turns yellow-orange, and just keeps getting darker. Also, the light reflected off the ear canal walls can add a reddish tinge because the blood vessels are so close to the surface.

I have gone my entire life never hearing out of my left ear. I’ve never had my ears professionally cleaned but now I’m beginning to suffer hearing loss in my right ear. I’ve gone to a couple of ENTs but the exam is less than two seconds and I get the ol’ they’re clean. I grew up wondering why God gave us two ears but only let us hear from one. I did have the mumps as a small child. Could this loss be something else? Is there any hope of curing it? I’m 61 as of the 14th but very much go go go.
