Great review. An interesting note would be that technically this arrow felt less force BECAUSE it shattered the cinder block. Take that as you will whether it does less damage to the head than when’s you hit the centre rib in the block.
@LuskArcheryAdventures
2 ай бұрын
Yeah, there are a lot of dynamics like that involving the cinderblock. It’s not a completely homogeneous medium in the first place. Sometimes I had happen to hit a larger piece of rock and other times it squeezes into a gap. But I have found that heads that breakthrough the concrete off and get more damage to them, because the blades Are more impacted over their entire length. And that’s especially the case when there is an angle involved. In this case, I was sure that the head was going to be bent in half as it took off that chunk and veered to the side.

Hey Greg! We totally get where you’re coming from. We like to think of the cost of broadheads in price per shot. When you factor in that they can be shot through a target more than 100 times and through critters multiple times and reused for multiple seasons, just one Toulou Broadhead at our price point cost less than $1.30 per shot(let alone 3). Compare that to a pack of $60 broadheads that you can only use once or twice and will have to replace next season and you’re looking at between $10-$20 per shot. We also make them 100% in the USA from the broadheads themselves to the Toulou travel tin, to the foam inside. Thanks for your comment!
@GregK-pv5xe
2 ай бұрын
@@ToulouBroadheadco thank you for that. I understand that quality design and the extra steps that you take each require additional cost. I’ve seen some things on this broadhead that I haven’t seen anywhere else. For what the broadhead is designed to do and as I said earlier, especially if you were going after bigger bones or dangerous game, this would definitely be a consideration because at that point one shot may be all you get. It could be on an animal. It would be more than willing to , kill you. At that point, I wouldn’t want any doubts in the back of my mind. Cost for quality would be a moot point. I do absolutely love the offset design of the head, causing more rotation. That just equals bigger wounds with more damage. As I had said before, fortunately for me, I’m only hunting thin skinned white tails. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe I’ll get to try these someday. Thanks for building a great high-quality product.

@@tannervanasten Thanks for that! You’re exactly right. Spiral wound channels don’t close easily. If you imagine a wound channel like a straight electrical cord versus a coiled electrical cord when you stretch them out the coiled cord is much longer. The same logic applies to a wound channel. There’s an increase in damage internally that’s proportional to the amount of increased rotation. You’re just cutting more surface area internally. We appreciate your perspective. Thanks for adding to the conversation! We hope you do try them out one day to see for yourself.

@@kennethminnes5290 broadheads definitely do rust especially if they’re not well cared for. It can be particularly bad if they have set screws and water gets in. Surface rust is partly why we use Tacti-black to coat our heads. The other two reasons are: 1. It adds a slippery, teflon like, feel to the surface that won’t scrape off and aids in penetration. 2. It increases the hardness of the outer surface of the metal by 3-4 Rockwell making it more durable and resilient.

I fletch my arrows with a left helical, and this broadhead is "twisted" to rotate clockwise. I wonder if that would have any impact on its rotation once hitting the animal, or even in flight having the broadhead and fletchings wanting to rotate in opposite directions. Maybe not, or if so the impact may be minimal, but something to think about.

@@Ratt-ln3mk Hey! Yes we have tested with crossbows and they work just fine. The rotation at the front of the arrow will overcome straight fletchings causing your arrow to follow the tip and fly true. If you want even more accuracy, fletch your bolt with a slight offset (1°-2° if your crossbow has the clearance) in the same direction as the rotation of your broadhead so your whole arrow system works together.
