On Day 10 of our Tour du Mont Blanc, we braved freezing temperatures at the Le Peuty campsite, waking up to icy conditions but with breathtaking views all around us. In this episode, we reflect on the challenges of hiking over 100 miles in September, from battling steep switchbacks and massive temperature swings to savoring moments of warmth and comfort. After starting our chilly morning hike, we quickly had to de-layer as the sun hit the valley. Along the way, we found a picturesque bench for a snack break, and the nearby refuge was a welcome sight where Gemma enjoyed a hot chocolate, and Michelle indulged in a herbal tea and tabbuleh salad.
Fueled up, we faced powerful winds at the summit but were rewarded with some of the most stunning mountain views we've seen so far. After a long day, we finally arrived at Auberge La Boerne, where we expected a cheap camping spot but found strings attached. Still, we were grateful for the warmth of a hot meal and shelter. Join us as we take you through the highs and lows of this unforgettable day of adventure!
