I saw a video recently a video of one of the Little Rascals (Darling) where she had a great story about Roscoe. There was a rabid dog on the grounds and the Rascals were having a photo shoot, everyone backed away from the dog but a little girl was trying to pet it. He ran over and picked up the girl, the mother was angry at him 😢 Roscoe started to cry and Stan Laurel took him to get ice cream.

Hello Mr. Z here - William H. A. Carr in 1962's "Hollywood Tragedy" "....3 trails of Roscoe there were charges and counter charges of bribery, perjury, suppression of evidence, intimidation, coaching of witnesses...or witnesses vanishing all together. Most of Roscoe's friends did stand by him however the bulk of the moving going public turned on him. And that killed the heart of Roscoe.

Where did you get your information? I’ve found some on the internet, but I never heard of that Maude ( I have a lot of choice words for her but will just keep those to myself) until your video. Beautiful home. Like the Thelma Todd case this one was another that didn't make sense. He was thrown under the bus. Why didn't they wait for the autopsy before accusing anyone. Taking the word of a woman who was known for several morality flaws in those days doesn't make sense. Don't even get me started on Hearst. Fatty should have sued and owned that newspaper. Many think the stress of all he went through was an additive cause to his death. Very sad destruction of a human life. Kudos to Buster Keaton for being a true friend. Thanks for an in-depth look into this case.
@Tam5115

Soothsayer1356 - This was tragic, and even when he was acquitted, he wasn't accepted. That happens still. Forensic science had very little to contribute in such cases, and Hearst owned the media. I firmly believe this contributed to his death at such a young age, and Roscoe was a victim who was done wrong. iirc, i don't think they knew much about Maude's con artist lifestyle, or Virginia Rappe's 'open door' policy. (the popo in SF) but everybody knew who Roscoe Arbuckle was. People jumped on because they could smell the money! Prosecutor with political ambitions, gossip gobblers and scandal seekers. They accused him of penetrating Rappe with a champagne bottle! She died of peritonitis and a ruptured bladder. (supposedly caused by the bottle, but more likely a botched abortion)

Chris Farley was set to play “Fatty” Arbuckle in the 90’s But they told him he would have to submit to drug tests and be clean for two years prior to filming but he just couldn’t do it and he died not long after. One of Roscoe's other residences in Hollywood became a restaurant that was open in the 1990s; it used his name as their name somehow; I just can't remember how. It wasn't Roscoe's - that's the chicken and pancake place (if it's still around). It might have been called Fatty Arbuckle's - went there a few times (nowhere near as much as to Roscoe's though!).

Jordan, well researched vlog On the unbelievable outrageous frame of Roscoe. This is your forte. The by gone era of Hollywood. You can tell in your voice you truly felt for Mr. Arbuckle being bamboozled. That Maude woman started this sordid lie that ruined his life and career. Then Hearst added fuel to the wood. That guy was a jerk.Its seems since Roscoe was rich and famous the jealous losers around him wanted to profit off his name. I will be looking forward to more about Roscoe. He may of been the first true Hollywood A list celebrity. Nowadays the sexual accusations SEEM to have merit to them. Guys like Spacey, Weinstein look to have done something. Spacey lost his leading role in the movie " All the money in the World. to Christopher Plummer.

Too much there. Sounds like someone or multiple people were EXTREMELY JEALOUS or Mr. Arbuckle. I believe the political part, absolutely but there were just too many layers for it not to be a plan, a master plan. Seems like even his death is suspect. Maybe they left him alone while he was down but then when Mr. Arbuckle was about to make a comeback, lights out. PS. If you are friends with all these top, most famous comedians and you are HONORED they play a clean, funny joke, what kind of JERK are you! What a funny story to tell your friends!!! I can understand a man getting tired from working hard over several months, but when you have a house and car like that in Southern California in the 1920s, and you need rest, go home and get some sleep and take a drive to the beach and stay there for a week or two. That would have been a whole lot more restful than heading to a luxury hotel in San Francisco for a party with a lot of liquor and a lot of ladies. He knew that his wealth and popularity made him a king of the hill, and he should have protected his reputation instead of opting to participate in that wild party which claimed the life of one of its participants. And I'm not saying he was guilty or not, just that he was unwise, as one of the richest dudes in California, to let some underlings arrange for three days of kicks with booze and chicks.
@thedativecase9733
2 жыл бұрын
Despite the fact that Prohibition was going on in the U.S. San Francisco had a much more liberal attitude to booze than Hollywood at the time, and going off for a wild weekend probably seemed a good idea at the time. The whole Rappe scandal is so shrouded in myth now that it's impossible to know what happened. Personally I think whatever went on in the hotel bedroom what killed this poor woman was the intervention of her "friend" Maude and the treatment of a seemingly incompetent doctor. After all Virginia died four days after the hotel incident - how could that be classed as murder? I'm English so we have a different legal system so maybe I'm wrong here. I feel sorry for Roscoe and Virginia - what a sordid mess it all was. Wasn't there a film from the 1970s based around this story called "Wild Party" ?
